I think you should make your sewcialites 2 into a small project (pillow? wall hanging?) instead of forcing yourself to do tiny piecing with fabric you don't love anymore! you could use your favorite 12 blocks and just do a 3x4 setting and get it done! or make 3 more blocks and do a 4x4 setting. The other project I would choose is the kona solids quilt because I think you're the closest to finishing that one!
I was thinking the same thing! A smaller project like a wall hanging reminds you where you have been and inspires you cus you have learned SO much since then. But hearing how much you didn’t enjoy socialites, and did enjoy some of the others, should be your first hint. Crafting should bring joy, or at the minimum not dread. ❤
Since you have a large credit at the quilting store, now is the time to get your biggest quilt quilted. It would seem like the dwell quilt would cost almost nothing, comparatively is you used the credit for it
You are absolutely right! That's the one I decided to send off 😊 It made it super easy on the LAQ as well as the size I previously paid for was almost identical and I went with the same pantograph. Just a change in thread color. SO excited to get it back! Thank you!
My choices to finish first are the spangled and then the barn quilts. They are beautiful. And don't start the swoon quilt yet. Save it for a reward when you finish some others!!
Love this, thank you! It's so hard, but you're absolutely right. Saving the Swoon quilt for when I am in need of a fast finish and focusing in on closing out some other WIPs first!
I think all quilters have several to numerous UFO's. Both with quilting and cross stitching. Cross stitching was my first love. I always wanted to start quilting, but kept putting it off. I finally gave it a go about 3 years ago and am addicted to it, literally. I have to make myself sit and do cross stitching. I would spend time in my sewing room/guest bedroom 24/7 if I could. I would send the largest quilt top to the long armors, then I might want to tackle my least favorite quilt and get it out of the way. I am like you in that I work on projects starting 1-2 months before the actual holiday; sometimes that is just not enough time to get done what I would like to. I have thought of a plan where I would start on the next holiday as soon as one was over. Have not achieved it yet. Love you channel! Love your beauty and personality! I am a born Okie and will be turning 69 in Sept. You are never too old to learn!! Thank you so very much for sharing!!!!❤
Thank you so much for sharing your quilting journey with me! I love that you learned something new later in life. I respect and admire that and aspire to be that way too! Based on your comment, I actually sent the largest one (Beach Day in Dwell) to the LAQ and I am SO excited to see it fully finished. Thank you for the suggestion!
It was fun seeing your WIPs! Here’s my vote for what to do next - Prioritize Barn Sampler while it’s still hot out and acquire the fabric you need while it’s still available. Stop when it starts to cool down and you get Autumn feelings. Make at least one if not two more rows of spangled before putting it away for a while. When you go back to it, having two or three rows done will be much less intimidating. Push through to get the Kona solids one done this year but maybe get it all cut and labeled in baggies and work on it in bits in between other more interesting fabrics. I feel the same way about solid colors! I would resist starting Swoon unless you have a bad day/week and really need the boost. I would put Sewcialites 2 into proper time out and decide at a later date if you want to fully finish it or maybe just modify it and make something much smaller with the blocks you already have. I definitely wouldn’t grit your teeth and finish it right now. My vote for longarming order - navy and white first (seeing it longarmed might motivate you with your Kona one!) and then the greyish greenish one. This might be something you have no interest in or time for but the simple one with Dwell fabric would look amazing with simple big stitch hand quilting in navy.
Wow, thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback! Definitely considering all of this in my approach. Love your ideas for how to garner some inspiration for those that are posing a bit more of a challenge to finish. Appreciate you!
Wow, such beautiful choices, you are asking a hard question. I'ts impossible for me to choose so I think that perhaps the one you are closest to finishing, go with that one. Just get it all completed and then think again. Keep up the good work.
Swoon is a great pattern, but I would work on a quilt you already have started. I made swoon last year for my daughter's birthday, and it goes quickly. A great project to start (and finish) in 2025!
That's good to know it is a fast and fun quilt! I think you're right that it's best to finish the ones in progress first -- even though it's tempting to cut into that beautiful fabric!
How about making a table runner out of your 3” Socialite blocks? This way you get to use and enjoy the blocks you already made but won’t have to continue with the fabric you fell out of love with.
Isn’t it funny how we say, “That’s not my style, BUT…..” 😀 I do that all of the time and it stretches my imagination. (I’m excited to start your quilt pattern! It's at the front of my binder looking happy and bright.) Thimble Blossoms is just adorable and yes, the cuddle might be a nice addition. That and Kona ;) They would be my recommendations t finish. I love the Socialites (oops Sewcialite) fabric - Kind of French Country? But that’s a LOT of work. I’m not into that tiny work, unless maybe EPP. Impatient-me? LOL Designer Mystery Box - so pretty! That Christmas quilt backing - yummmmmmy. Yes! =========================================================== I love the Lighthouse quilt. Sucker for the theme and the traditional pattern. The Riley Blake fabric Mysterious Gingham Fields quilt may be number 1. My thoughts 🙂 Really enjoyed going through all the goodies with you.
You are so right! I love having a variety of quilts and trying new things! I was that way with batiks and then I made my Ocean Currents quilt in batiks and it's one of my favorites of all time! I have set my sights on finishing the Kona Solids one next, so thank you! As always, thank you for your thoughtful comments. 💜

Yes! Do the gorgeous Swoon quilt and finish the Kona Solids! 🩷🩵
I have already made some progress on the Kona solids since posting! The end is in sight. Can't wait to show you!

Great advice, thank you! Makes me feel better that it's hard for others to pick what's next too. So many beautiful quilts, so little time!
