WWII nerd here, ftr: the germans started bombing Polish civilians on day 1 of the war, and prior to the invasion of Poland the Japanese had been bombing civilians in China, the Italians in Ethiopia and the germans and Italians both in Spain.
And two quick notes on Hiroshima/japan's surrender. The bombing was not about limiting American casualties ahead of an invasion, it was about a demonstration/testing of nuclear weapons on otherwise unbombed cities, and the Soviets were an even more important audience than the Japanese. And ultimately despite calling the surrender unconditional, it was very much a conditional surrender, with the conditions that the Emperor remain in place and not face any war crimes charges, which were also basically the terms the Japanese had been offering since the German surrender in May (the atomic bombs were dropped in august and the final surrender signed in sept).
Yeah America could just keep fire bombing with only a handful casualties and nukes were used to send a signal and it's crazy how the emperor got away with what he has done.
But in Europe things didn't happen the way you think it did. The polish vigilantes were killing raping pillaging some German diaspora along with German borders, Germany threatened but on UK's command Poland didn't do anything. Hitler tried to make peace with Churchill multiple times with very generous offerings but Churchill declined

The way I learned the Battle of Britain, both sides mainly targeted military installations at first. It was by mistake that a British bomber dropped its payload over civilians (presumably in Berlin). Adolf responded with all-out bombing of civilians in London, which ironically gave RAF the breathing room it needed to re-organize and eventually win the air war.
I say it once in a while and will say it again: if Matt is going to be speaking throughout the clip, he should be on video.

The first bombing of civilians in Europe in WW2 was the Germans bombing Poland. I'm assuming you're referring to the fact that the UK bombing of Berlin caused Hitler to lift restrictions on bombing Central London. However, the Luftwaffe had been bombing the London suburbs for a while at that point. Good job trying to defend Nazis though.

The Allies early on wrote a joint statement condemning the act of bombing civilians, then switched about 3/4 through the war and committed some of the most brutal and insane civilian targetted incendiary bombing campaigns of the entire war. They went balls to the wall in an attempt to turn the civilian population against their government in Italy, Japan and Germany,, but it only had the opposite effect.
Well, since imperialism is "the entire basis of Israel's existence" (ca. 11:20), apparently Germany didn't do anything wrong during WW2...

It's pretty crazy that Ben is so committed to disagreeing with Tucker that he's effectively claiming, "If I saw my child stabbing the other in the eye, I would *not* try to stop the violence."
Disingenuous as it may be, Tucker is saying that step one, no matter who did what, or who "started it", is to stop the violence. If you genuinely cared about both children, you would first want to end the conflict so that no child could be injured even further. On the other hand, Ben apparently wants to hand the injured child a gun, and *maybe* bother to find out what happened after the one with the knife is buried.

Just a little FYI: Japan was negotiating surrender before Hiroshima. The only question was whether the surrender would be conditional or unconditional. A ground invasion by the US was never on the table. There was no reason to risk American lives, because at that point in the war Japan's navy had been destroyed and they were at the mercy of American bombers. The argument that dropping the atomic bomb was an alternative to a ground invasion was a lie that Truman's people made up after the war ended and people began to question the morality of what they did.
In fact, it's unlikely that the use of atomic weapons made any difference at all. Conventional bombing had been very successful, and the news that Americans had destroyed yet another city--albeit by a new kind of weapon--left the war council unfazed. Fascist governments aren't particularly deterred by civilian casualities--as UA-camr Shaun puts it: "Murdering poor people is their day job." He has a two and a half hour video on this topic, and I strongly recommend it.
