I was Sick of Donald Trump in the 80’s, when he was on “Lifestyles of the Rich and famous “ every other week bragging about his crap. I knew what a horrid person he is.
I'm not the biggest musical fan, but I give props to South Pacific, Guys and Dolls or How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying for doing it right. Joker 2 seems like Cop Rock, the failed musical TV police drama. Fine line on the cringe.
Thanks for the reviews. I checked, and several theaters near me are showing The Apprentist. I'll definitely go. I have never bought trump's bullshit and will be voting for Harris/Walz.
Donald Trump fought to stop the release of the film which tells me it's worth seeing. The problem I have is that I despise Trump and what he stands for so much that the film will probably trigger angry feelings in me. Mary Trump, Fred Trump Jr.'s daughter, speaks about how her father was a good decent man, and that was considered weakness by Fred Sr. I have yet to see a positive review of the Joker movie, but you are the only one who spoke of the film's missed potential.
Planning to see "Joker" tomorrow, so I'll reserve judgement until then. Can't help thinking the title itself is rather pretentious! One of the strengths of the original movie was the fact that you were never entirely sure what was in the reality of the movie and what was actually in Fkeck's mind, his relationship with the neighbour being the obvious point. As such, it's difficult to actually see where they could take the story! Not sure I really want to see a film about Trump given that his ego and profile is currently in full flow, particularly here in the Uk where disappointment with our new Labour Government is causing Right Wing sensibilities to idolise his image, with his "good friend" Nigel Farage making big political capital out of all atm! Sounds an interesting movie, though!
Going to leave a separate comment about the second movie because it is so different. Great job covering this. As you said the limited US distribution would make me possibly overlook this one but now I will seek it out. Thanks.
Thanks for the reviews. I had no intention of watching either of these movies. The Joker because honestly the trailers just didn’t look interesting. The Apprentice because I’ve been exposed to far too much Donald Trump going back to the 80s. I have family members who are Trump disciples and fear should he succeed in November we will all experience the movie first hand.
I hope your side prevails in November. You might be able to handle The Apprentice when the orange baboon is relegated to the cesspit of history. Take care.
Terry: What’s next…”Godzilla-The musical”? Personally, I’m exhausted by all things Trump and all the baggage and bad behavior that bombards us daily in the States. Good luck to those film makers on that project.
Have not seen the second Joker movie. I heard that for the first one Martin Scorsese was part of the development altho he dropped out before it was filmed and this was how they got Robert De Niro involved? It drew upon Taxi Driver and Mean Streets for inspiration. Also Gotham City was set in the real life New York city in the early 1980's when the city went into bankruptcy and everything was breaking down. I thought it was well done and it's a shame they could not follow up with another great one.
Oh yes. Politics in America have entered the Dada Zone. It is a bit of a truism now that business and politics, at least in America, select for sociopaths at the top levels. We're voting Green, again, this time around. Then, when I later get accused of "wasting my vote," I can honestly say; "I voted for Kodos." "Twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom." I remember the seventies and the eighties in America well and will look out for "The Apprentice." I think Conrad said it best: The fascination of the abomination. Stay safe over there and try to follow George Washington's sage advice to his fellow countrymen; avoid foreign entanglements. We didn't, and look where it got us!
Man. Love your jack-o-lantern ball cap. Also, it's so weird that this is the second time in my life I can point to a version of the Joker singing "There's always a Joker" ua-cam.com/video/r9vRfBel_Fk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DinoDrac%27sRetroCommercials%21

first off just watche Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters absalutly brilient reminded me of Poltergeist mixed with an Estwood westen, as for this verson of the Joker its for the rich, he's safe because he's ill and can be understod, treted and perhaps pityed as aposed to being ultra sane and a danger to the status quo, chaos embodied. more Ledger less Phoenix but that might br the anarchist in me

Anyone with any moral compass could see that at the time. A dangerous, demented man.

That one moment of brilliance in the musical side of the movie was a total tease. It raised my hopes only to crash them down afterward.

Thanks Dan. I dearly hope your side prevails in November. (I get a say because I pay US taxes on my UA-cam revenue!)

Joker 2 is disappointing and that lost potential is annoying.
Time for me to bite the bullet and hit the megaplex to catch The Apprentice. Thanks, Ter.
My pleasure, William. 😀
Terry Talks About Two Clowns.
A clown cult is a weird thing.

The Apprentice is an interesting movie. He's a dangerous man and there's something fascinating and sickening about the arc of his life.
Going to leave a separate comment about the second movie because it is so different. Great job covering this. As you said the limited US distribution would make me possibly overlook this one but now I will seek it out. Thanks.
My pleasure. The Apprentice is definitely worth checking out. It marks a moment of history.

The Apprentice is a brave movie. If you stick your head over the parapet, someone's going to take a potshot at you.

Joker 2 is disappointing both as a sequel and as a musical. As a big musical buff, that really cheesed me off.

Stephen King did compare Trump to Greg Stillson, so that's valid.
I've known that guy is a conman since the 1980 don't need to see him or here his name.

Joker is a brilliant character but particularly Joker 2 totally messes up the intellectual property.
Don't quit your day job ... if you have one.
Thanks for watching the video! ❤
