This is the best course for MS Access that I found on UA-cam. I appreciate you for creating that much valuable content freely available to all. Thank you very much!
Dear Sir I would just like to say that whilst browsing the internet looking for information on how to create a personal database using Access 2019, I stumbled onto your video “Access Beginner Tutorial”. I learnt more in half an hour of watching the video that I had in days. Dan McAllister is such a good teacher. Takes you through each section and gives you time to try every little thing. He has such a wonderful calming voice, unlike presenters of other video’s. He does you credit. I’ll be sticking with your video and hoping that the information sinks into this 68 year old brain sufficiently for me to produce the database I need. Thank you
Hands down, this is the best Microsoft Access 2016 Turorial course i have ever come across. Talk about an expert/professional!!! Amazed! It makes so much sense to start with exploring a database rather than starting to create a database without knowing exactly how cool a database is. This first part is making me so excited and looking forward for the upcoming in lesson i see in this playlist.
@@LearnitTraining Between the chapter to "Creating Relationships with Lookup Lists 2:29:41", and "The Relationships Window 2:33:33" it seems there is a part of a video missing. Because i did not see how exactly to use lookup lits to create the relationships. The table also change between these two chapters, from the one with clients and custodians to clients and technicians.
Dear Dan, I learned Access many years ago ,1995, but have not used it since. Now I wanted to design a database for my work and came to look for a refreshment and what a surprise!. You are a great teacher know exactly how to present a subject and how to lead your student especially on such a remote learning. I enjoyed every moment. Thank you so much. So many thinks we can learn from the way you teach. Well done.
Thank you so much. I have now watched this 3 times. Made a complex database (at least by my standard). Made tons of mistakes. Came back here to get the basics right. You covered it all. But for a newbie making mistakes was important learning. What an amazing course. Onwards and upwards.
I have taken a dozen or so courses in database management, Filemaker Pro and Access. This instructor is really, really good, I love how he gets right into hands on stuff and keeps your interest. Other courses start with very mundane technocrap. I am definitely going to look into paying for additional courses. Well played Mr. McAllister, well played.
EXCELLENT teaching techniques! My job for many years was to observe and evaluate the instructional skills and techniques of middle and high school science and math teachers. Later I served as an Instructional Technology Director, during which some of my duties were to design and conduct classes for K-12 teachers on MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I designed a database that tracked the classes and performances of all teachers that attended our classes. I toyed with the idea of teaching MS Access, but never felt that my knowledge was as complete as it should have been to do as good a job as I would have wanted to do. Watching your "Beginner Tutorial" confirms that I have gaps in my knowledge! :-) I guess I never really took the time to fully explore all of the nooks and crannies of MS Access. Aside from having a firm understanding the content for which you are teaching (which sadly was not always the case for some teachers with whom I worked), you employ essential techniques, such as making few assumptions of the viewers' knowledge. For example, you include expected behaviors of Windows, and not just Access. Other extremely important techniques that you employ are: You FREQUENTLY loop back to review and hopefully reinforce what has been taught; You provide "wait time" so that viewers to follow the pace of your instruction; You raise the possibility of problems occurring, and patiently illustrate how to either avoid or address them; You check for understanding by giving viewers chances to implement procedures that you taught by letting them try out their understanding before you proceed. You use appropriate and reasonable amounts of humor at appropriate times to relieve mental tension. Consequently, your pace is not hurried, which is essential when teaching somewhat difficult content such as this. Ok, I can "see" and "hear" some techies moaning and rolling their eyes at my comments, and at your instructional methods. I strongly suspect that they have never tried to EFFECTIVELY teach folks for whom technology is not as easy to learn as it is for them. I've attended MANY classes conducted by techies whose apparent goal was to impress their students of how much they knew, rather than effectively teach. And BOY does that turn off many learners!!! And WOW...the time you and your organization take to make videos with this much detail and length at no cost to viewers. Very rare, and very much appreciated! Dan, based on your instructional performance in this video, I would have given you my highest marks in my evaluation. I wish I could see you teach in person, it would be a pleasure!
BTY James Grant, I'm working with a 78 year old brain, and have the same hopes as you. My son-in-law has come to me with the need to create a database for his small business. After having not used Access for more than 10 years, I'm really dusting off the mental cobwebs and making my brain ache again. Feels good! :-)
Great tutorial, loving this - but there is a jump at 2:33:33 that skips over where you were to another point in the presentation and different access about relationships
There is an issue when you get to 2:23:29 forward. It jumps over Creating Relationships with Lookup Lists and go straight to The Relationship Window. Very very confusing. The Custodian Table is not there anymore and a new table called Technician is there instead. How did that happen?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 STARS is what I give you for the incredibly didactic trainning !!!! I'M FROM BRASIL , RIO DE JANEIRO and I prefer study by American Professors and teachers... Your training is good because of the 3 points I consider crucial: 1)Your language is clear and to the point 2)Your exemples are exactly what we find in the files (no unpleasant surprises as some other not so didactic teachers from Learnit made me go through while following their classes, rendering me a lot of headaches!!!) 3)You are a very detail-oriented person, which made me like you even more!!!! .... I wish all the success, health and joy to you!!! You are one in a million... !!!! 🙏🙏🙏

This tutorial is extremely professional and should be the go-to guide for anyone looking to learn. It's fantastic and truly top-notch. I was very impressed and it left me wanting to learn even more. Keep up the great work!
I have gone through whole Beginner Access video. I really appreciate and happy for the video and Learnit team for doing this great job. It was long pending dream of learning Microsoft Access. Atlast, i found the perfect video to learn. Thanks a lot.
Terrific. I'm a former database programmer and it's been years. Going to design a dbase for my work in Access and needed to run through how things work here. Did some fast forwarding but you are a great teacher... You know the material but you know how to teach as well! : )
This tutorial is amazing for beginners. The flow of session is maintained brilliently till end. You get hands on experience while watching this tutorial. One of the best course.
I'd bet that between the words 'put your video on pause' and 'welcome back,' a lecturer sneaks in a couple of sips of good whisky) Very good sense of humor.
This is brilliant. I have done a lot off access but not for ages and had forgotten some of the steps. Of course as soon as I see you do the step I am thinking how did I forget that. What I really like is how you don't miss out any detail especially the simple details that some trainers skip right over forgetting that not everybody already knows the actions to take. Doe example the different ways to open, close and not change a record.
Thank you very much for these perfect lessons! My knowledge of Access is of absolute perfection-it is impeccably flawless and immaculate to the highest degree! I am surprised even how I am perfect that I am! Thank you for being perfect!
I like that the humor, anecdotes, and personality come forward slowly throughout the video. Like, I've lured you in with my professional acumen but keeping you here for Steven Wright and Billy Crystal references.
My congratulations on this wonderful course!!! I admire your simplicity in explaining things and getting into details step-by-step. This is a wonderful course!
Hey Dan, or should I say Fernando :D Thanks for making this video, it's helping me understand the program properly and will help me add tremendous value to my job position. The amount of times I've said "Oh, wow." while following this tutorial is insane. You're really good at putting the info down and I look forward to finishing the entire course using your videos. Thanks again!
This is very good if you know absolutely nothing about databases or access. I never used Access but worked heavily with SQL, so I tried to skip a lot of the info about database design.
Good tutorial, thank you for sharing it. I'd like to draw your attention that the section about how to create a lookup list is missing. It should be around 2:33:00.
At about 2:33:30 the video seems to skip ahead, missing part of how to use Lookup Lists to create relationships, I would assume explaining exactly how to do that. Is that correct or am I missing something. Excellent instruction by the way.
Greetings from New Zealand. You're an awwwesome tutor, Excellent content too. I'd say personally this is the BEST tutorial in regards to Microsoft Access for beginners. Your other " Microsoft tutorials " are top notch too. Thanks, cheers
This tutorial is great! However, at 2:33:34, it looks like a section was skipped? Because it went from talking about identifying the primary key [with the Beyond Clean database open], and skipped over the section about using Lookup Lists, jumping to a section that was obviously recorded AFTER the lookup lists section. I noticed because you have a completely different database file [Compugeeks] open in the section at 2:33:34 than you had in the section before it. Not really much of a complaint, but that could be confusing for a beginner trying to follow along with the module. Regardless, thanks for the time you put into these lessons, you're a great teacher.
It is confusing for a beginner because I don't even know the filename being used let alone how to create a lookup list. Seeing this comment got me the filename but it didn't get me making a parent/child relationship with the 2 tables. I tried a few things but nothing worked so I continued with the tutorial. In the next section using the QUERY file it showed how to make a connection between tables in the relationships tab which was simple enough. I went back to COMPUGEEKS and hooked those tables up. I still have no clue how to get the 2 tables into the same tab but I'll come across it somewhere else I'm sure. Primaries are key, on with the tutorial.
Hi something weird has happened to the video. There is a chunk missing from. At 2:33:41 on the video it suddenly changes from the Beyond clean file to Compu geeks but it has jumped ahead. You suddenly start talking about what's been going on in the background when we created the lookup list. But we haven't done that yet. I was on a role! It may be something to do with my computer but not sure. Could you have a look please. I'm really enjoying your style of teaching. I'm not a beginner and I'm finding all sorts of things i didn't know about! But this is what I'm really needing clarification on, relationships. Thanks
Getting relationships to work where it concerns MULTIPLE tables always presented challenges for me. The more tables used, the harder it is for me to follow along. Parenthetically, I suspect my slow learning in such matters is largely due to my limited IQ. Nevertheless, big applause goes out to you for taking the precious time needed to achieve your teaching outcomes. With respect to the relational database section of this video (toward the end), I would rate me at least a 9 in terms of comprehension with 10 being perfect understanding. I take a bow, yes, but you first, because you made it happen with your clear delivery and perfect pacing throughout the tutorial. Bravo, good sir! You crossed the Rubicon and achieved your victory and in doing so I learned how to swim.
Best teacher, this is not a lesson, this is an adventure, a roller Coaster of Access. the course is very well structured and presented with amazing flow. thank you DAN.
Excellent ACCESS Tutorial!! The structure of the course is well organized and the contents are well selected! I love your sense of humor, it makes me laugh where learning :). Enjoy so much this tutorial and reviewed the ACCESS fairly through in less than 4 hours. Thank you!! Find a little typo though, for Weight, you typed 6.3, but somehow 6 is showing at the end (without decimal point), not sure why that happened since you used Decimal as data type.
Thank you sir for your great service. Please upload more courses ASAP. We want to learn more about IT. We need like java, c++, UI/UX design, AutoCAD, android studio, website design and trending courses. Thank you
Wow! That you SO much for your generosity, time, skill, warm demeanor and humour. The only other similar comprehensive course I could find had some free videos but for a thorough continuous course I would have had to pay far more than I could afford. I have tried several times to learn Access - using books, videos and other means, and I have become frustrated and defeated every time - until now thanks to you. I am half way through the first series and look forward to working through the other 3. The idea of sample files and pausing for us to repeat actions is brilliant. Again, thanks so much Dan! PS. I have also made available hours of free UA-cam content (on Inkscape), and am grateful to others like you who generously assist others to learn via UA-cam.
Thanks , very detailed this is one of my least favorite apps. I always ask for someone to show me and no one I know uses Access. Everybody is scared of Access. I will refer to this Video
Thank you so much for this, sir! This channel has a lot of material to learn and master so many topics. I guess I won't be leaving the computer for a while :)
Best method of teaching by providing the Exercise file. This is how it should be. Thanks Dan, keep the good work. I never tried Access. This is my first time.
What the heck just happened? Module #2 Beginners 2:33.33 we had 2 tables Client and Custodian..had just begun Relational...then at 2:33.35 it jumps to client TECHNICIAN which we had not even opened yet....WOW huge chunk of instruction missing on creating the Lookup...I feel like I just wasted my time
Hahah, just did the course. I'am from germany - in 3:42:57 the word dumbkopf --- hilarious - did't know you are sometimes using that word too. Still, we say Dummkopf!😀😅🤣 Keep the good work! I'am in a new job now - this will get me further!
The learning has been great, I am just a little curious, I am on part 2 and at 2hours 33 mins. It suddenly seem to jump a step where you learn about forming the relationships and also goes to a different file (Compugeeks whereas was on Beyond Clean). Have i missed someting. Many thanks
@@walibou287 Thank you so much! I just left a comment a few minutes ago, but then decided to scroll down to see if there had been an answer. Much appreciated.
Has anyone answered the two comments about not finding or having the Client Table and the Technician Table, around the 2:34:23 mark. I, too, have been on a role up to this point. Please advise. Thank you.
@@LearnitTraining Indeed..a colleague showed me years ago how to use Access and my eyes almost bled. This is SOOOO helpful and _interesting_ . I never thought I would think this way about MS Access.
Thank you so much for the very useful tutorial. I have never really understood Access and this tutorial was very well put together and you explained everything very well
Thank you very much for this. Thorough and comprehensive! Not to mention that you often sound like Lewis Black in voice, accent and inflection. I anticipated expletives and tantrums, and got none.
Huhuu!!! You are such a great tutor. Your teachings voice kept sounding in my ear, how do I get link up for the rest of the tutorial services, I cannot wait, Thanks.
OK, that explains why it appears to skip. But it still is missing part of it, so it makes no sense. Watch it starting at 2:32:45, then you will see what I am taking about.
It also helps if you are watching on your pc that you have it hooked up your tv and have it set to the 2 screens and have the video on one and access on the other
Hi, I was going Good, Thanks . In the second module in relationship, technician table popped up without any mention about it. I could see only Client and Custodian table. but in the tutorial they were client and technician Table. please clarify, i cant proceed. thanks.
The tutorials good although I couldn't imagine shuffling between the you tube/access windows. Dual screens or in my case a screen big enough to accommodate both windows.
Good afternoon. For example, I have 100 entries in the "table". A question: 1) How to create an automatic numbering in the table, starting from number 001 (this field with the number will be a key) 2) If, for example, I delete line 63, then the numbering should be updated (auto -missing).
This is the best course for MS Access that I found on UA-cam. I appreciate you for creating that much valuable content freely available to all. Thank you very much!
You're very welcome!

You are welcome!
Best teacher, this is not a lesson, this is an adventure, a roller Coaster of Access. the course is very well structured and presented with amazing flow.
thank you DAN.
Wow, thanks!
you are such an amazing teacher.i love to have private classes whenever possible,,,100 percent undertood.
Any time!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you sir for your great service. Please upload more courses ASAP. We want to learn more about IT. We need like java, c++, UI/UX design, AutoCAD, android studio, website design and trending courses.
Thank you
We are currently looking at building some new coding videos. Stay tuned!
Your good work is visible, even to the one who doesn’t want to see. Job well done and May you be rewarded handsomely!
You are very welcome! We hoped you learned alot!
Thanks , very detailed this is one of my least favorite apps. I always ask for someone to show me and no one I know uses Access. Everybody is scared of Access. I will refer to this Video
Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for this, sir! This channel has a lot of material to learn and master so many topics. I guess I won't be leaving the computer for a while :)
You're very welcome!
Amazing stuff love all the videos! one question tho, what happened at 2:33:33 did it get cut off or skipped?
yes looks like there is an editing video error there
Best method of teaching by providing the Exercise file. This is how it should be. Thanks Dan, keep the good work. I never tried Access. This is my first time.
Thank for watching MJB! We hoped you learned alot!
What the heck just happened? Module #2 Beginners 2:33.33 we had 2 tables Client and Custodian..had just begun Relational...then at 2:33.35 it jumps to client TECHNICIAN which we had not even opened yet....WOW huge chunk of instruction missing on creating the Lookup...I feel like I just wasted my time
Hi, did you find the answer? please help!
The best explanation! It’s very easy to understand with this wonderful sense of humor! Great 👍 job! Thanks 🙏!
Thank you! 😃
Hahah, just did the course. I'am from germany - in 3:42:57 the word dumbkopf --- hilarious - did't know you are sometimes using that word too. Still, we say Dummkopf!😀😅🤣 Keep the good work! I'am in a new job now - this will get me further!
We are so happy this has helped you at work!
Very sad that the creation of the relationship is missing at about 2:30 ! Please correct it and reupload the vídeo.
thank you very much for uploading this. I need to learn access for a job abd this is a really comprehensive tutorial
You are weclome J.Azz Woods! Good luck on your job!
Learning Access has never been so funny! Thank you Sir! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
this is great tutorial! need help, why is copy so problematic ? Most the time it fail to copy field value. any help is greatly appreciated
Absolutely mind blowing method of sharing knowledge ! Thanks a ton for putting in this awesome effort
Thank you for watching Varun!
The learning has been great, I am just a little curious, I am on part 2 and at 2hours 33 mins. It suddenly seem to jump a step where you learn about forming the relationships and also goes to a different file (Compugeeks whereas was on Beyond Clean). Have i missed someting. Many thanks
Hi Steve! This is an older video series that we stitched together for our channel, hence the jumps in the videos.
Thank you for bringing so great value to us for free. God bless you real good
You are so welcome!
What happened to the relationship 2:33:35? Can you please show the missing step. Thank you.
@@walibou287 Much appreciated. Thanks.
@@walibou287 Thank you so much! I just left a comment a few minutes ago, but then decided to scroll down to see if there had been an answer. Much appreciated.
Hey great tutorial, learned a lot. I am having trouble finding part 2, 3 and 4 though??
Hello Daniel! Here is a playlist with all our Access videos - ua-cam.com/play/PLoyECfvEFOjYqifYG9xBEcJkdh395-bjx.html
this is the best access tutorial on youtube. thank you so much. helped me a lot
You're welcome!
Has anyone answered the two comments about not finding or having the Client Table and the Technician Table, around the 2:34:23 mark. I, too, have been on a role up to this point. Please advise. Thank you.
check esmanar2's comment in top list it will give a very good solution
Very informative video. I learned Ms Access step by step with you sir. Thanks 👍
Great 👍
You're seriously a top trainer. Many thanks for this great session.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@LearnitTraining Indeed..a colleague showed me years ago how to use Access and my eyes almost bled. This is SOOOO helpful and _interesting_ . I never thought I would think this way about MS Access.
Oh man, it has been at least 15 years since I've done the Northwind thing. Amazing how much you can forget!
So impressive. Wish I could like a video twice.
Thank you so much for the very useful tutorial.
I have never really understood Access and this tutorial was very well put together and you explained everything very well
You're very welcome!
Thanks, Nice lesson. Please where and how do I get the practice files to this video?
Hi Goodnews Digifa! The link to the exercise files is in the description!
Someone please help me with a link to download the practice files.

@@LearnitTraining thank you.
This is very helpful to my Access learning, thanks 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You're very welcome!
Amazing tutorial. How do you join unrelated tables without any Primary and foreign keys?
Hi Tyrone! You can get help directly from our instructors at Offsite, our online community - www.offsitebylearnit.com
Primary key for owner may change if owner moves auto number is better
I came looking for gold, but i found a diamond.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for this. Thorough and comprehensive!
Not to mention that you often sound like Lewis Black in voice, accent and inflection. I anticipated expletives and tantrums, and got none.
Hi Kris - well it is a family channel, haha
This teacher is the best!
Thank you for the kinds words Coach!
Keep up the good work, it really helped me and many others!
Thanks, will do!
Huhuu!!! You are such a great tutor. Your teachings voice kept sounding in my ear, how do I get link up for the rest of the tutorial services, I cannot wait, Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching etornam!
OK, that explains why it appears to skip. But it still is missing part of it, so it makes no sense. Watch it starting at 2:32:45, then you will see what I am taking about.
It also helps if you are watching on your pc that you have it hooked up your tv and have it set to the 2 screens and have the video on one and access on the other
Thank you so much, you're seriously an amazing trainer.
You're so welcome!
at 2:35:26 it shows the relationship between both tables. On my database it does not?
Hi Jack! You can get your question answered at Offsite, our online community - www.offsitebylearnit.com
Not much I can say: Thank you!!!
You are welcome!
Great course and huge efforts
Glad you think so!
תודה!
בכיף! תודה שצפיתם!
That was a masterpiece for real!!! Thanks a lot Teachers
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, I was going Good, Thanks . In the second module in relationship, technician table popped up without any mention about it. I could see only Client and Custodian table. but in the tutorial they were client and technician Table. please clarify, i cant proceed. thanks.
check CompuGeeks in Module
The tutorials good although I couldn't imagine shuffling between the you tube/access windows. Dual screens or in my case a screen big enough to accommodate both windows.
Hi Fred! We agree on the dual screens!
Great Job. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Good afternoon. For example, I have 100 entries in the "table". A question:
1) How to create an automatic numbering in the table, starting from number 001 (this field with the number will be a key)
2) If, for example, I delete line 63, then the numbering should be updated (auto -missing).

Thanks!
Is there training for the rest of the Modules? Really enjoyed his teaching style.
There’s a playlist on the LearnIT channel collecting these modules.
