Final Fantasy VI (Movie Edition)

- Final Fantasy VI condensed as best as possible to convey a movie, without losing the most impacting story elements and character development.
Evidently, this is played on the Gameboy Advance version of the game, which I think is probably the best version, overall, for fixing a lot of the dubious dialogue sections and clarifying events, without removing the best bits. The music suffers a little, though, but it's still good.
I originally made a version which had all of the story bits, but it came to 4 hours and 45 odd minutes. I went back and cut a bit more out, mostly regaining a lot of companions on the World of Ruin, since a lot of them are more... faffy than anything interesting, story-wise (like Edgar and Cyan, for instance - Cyan already had all his World of Ruin story bits in the World of Balance, but done better, for example). I kept the best ones (Setzer, Gau's father, Locke, Terra, etc). Other bits cut were Relm in the blazing house, which I realised didn't actually add much to the plot, or characters, and filled up a lot of time which took away from the main story at hand. It's regretful, but overall better for it. Included in this is also the Ultros battle where Relm sketches him... and Ultros on stage, which, as fun as it may be, doesn't add anything to the already lengthy opera scene (which I didn't want to cut any of the main parts from, since it's an amazing and iconic scene). I also cut down the dinner with The Empire, since the choices section actually took up a lot of time and the most important part of that scene is towards the end, which I obviously kept.
Other things included are pretty much any extra bits of character dialogue, such as Setzer fixing his ship and mentioning Daryl, Sabin seeing the coin on Setzer's ship, Leo seeing Cyan and Edgar at the dinner, and so on. And, of course, the entirety of the final part of Kefka's fight is kept. Weird fact, I actually had my strongest guys up and ready, which were Terra, Edgar, Sabin and Mog, but then the last attack of the previous part of the fight knocked out Edgar and Mog, replacing them with Celes and Locke, which were most weaker... but ultimately better for the story purpose of that fight. - Ігри
Thanks for bring to my memory the best hours ofmy life and i still think its the best FF ever made
Thanks for the upload! My favorite FF along with 9.
Those are my two favourites, too!
SmazUgonih It's a shame that this doesn't get a remake! T_T
I agree! VI, despite being one of the best in the series, has had no peep of a full-fledged remake (and not something like this GBA version, which is like a port with some things fixed). Even IV had a full on remake in the form of the DS version, thinking about it. I would love VI to have a remake.
Yes, even 3 had a DS remake, how unfair!
Thank you very very much for the hard work. I played this game as a little kid and didn't understand a thing. Now I understand the plot
Fantastic. The last time I played this game was on Super Nintendo back in 1994. Great vid, it gave me the feels. 👍
In Spain, we could only get to play this game by purchasing the US version, which was sold in some shops at outrageous prices.(the game costed almost the same as a brand new SNES. Same happened with Chrono Trigger).
In addition to that, you had to play it using an NTSC adapter, which was also a bit expensive and it caused a few errors in the game (the character menu didn't work properly at times, showing only a black screen). But it was worth every penny. Playing this game's one of the happiest memories I have of my late teenage years.
Still a hot story today
Thank you so much for this!! I played and enjoyed this as a child but my memory of the story was a bit hazy. I don't know what happened to my copy of VI on the SNES so I wanted to rewatch and remember this beautiful story. Thanks again!
I just came back for Nostalgia
This is perfect thanks dude
Awesome work dude thank you so much for putting this up I just wish I had more time to read the dialogue I'm not that faster reader
2021 someone?
thanks for this
Awesome thank you!
oh so relaxing . its been 5 years when I first play ffvi :)
The story is far more fulfilling when you fight to uncover it, rather than have it given to you. However, I gotta give the author credit for lining up the music in the transitions.
There's many that will never have the time to (re)play this game. So still worth it.
I loved this game growing up. My favorite character was Locke. Stuck with me so much that my son's name is Locke.

FFVI Advance done right 💝
I love FFVI It has Great Game Mechanics
3:17:24 You left out Gau 😢... what would he say between Mog & Setzer in the GBA version (especially if their gamefaqs game scripts left out some of Gau's lines in GBA version)?
Oh, & by the way, Umaro & Gogo don't even say anything like the other 12 characters do.
Mmm, I don't remember why I left Gau out. I think it may just have been down to him not being as useful as Gogo with that last group, getting through the tower.
According to a particular game script, the one by tskisoccer/NoWorries that I had to hunt down and is listed among the gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/554041-final-fantasy-iii/faqs FAQ list:
GAU: You my friends! Me uwaooo all of you!

This game is significantly outdone by the vast majority of the series, even 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, all of them, far outweigh this. What deep writing, Locke, Cyan and Setzers backstories can all be summed it with "person in my past died, I blame myself, am sad" The only characters with an actual interesting backstory and arc are Celes and Terra, look me in the fucking eye, and tell me you're emotionally invested in Gau, I was more emotionally invested in Biggs and Wedge in 7, and they died almost immediately. This games writing is fine at best, the "main" Cast, consist of 4 actual characters in Kefka, Locke, Celes and Terra, and 4 somewhat interesting characters with Shadow, Sabin, Edgar and Cyan, and then it's just The Rest
More like quite the opposite. This is still the most acclaimed game in the series and the top rated. You obviously played game blindfolded. Every character with the exception of Umaro and Gogo have not only character development, but closure. The music was also Nobuo's finest work to date.
Some people really need to take off their rose-colored glasses
I'm very underwhelmed, not seeing why this is supposed to be one of the best FF. I mean I guess people could say its the best of the "2d ones", but trying to compare this to any of the 3d FFs afterward just doesn't make sense. 2d and 3d offer to very different experiences, and 3d will always have the advantage. This must be what it feels like for Zelda fans to have people try to say that A Link to the Past is the best Legend of Zelda game when Ocarina of Time and every 3d one afterwards were obviously light years better.
Brendan Gallagher you never played final fantasy 6. So you wouldn't understand.... It is the best.
The plot, the character developments, the music, how you play as each character and not only one character ... Kefka the villain was weak but witty and grew to power, Terra was strong and had an ultimate form but when her will was broken she became weak and her friends supported her, Celes tried to kill herself because she thought all her friends died and there was no more hope.... did you even read the play through this guy put up?
This game had so much depth and detail
Considering this game is on almost everyone's top 5 games of all time list, and how link to the past is the number 1 game of all time to everyone that has played it, I'm pretty sure you're just objectively wrong.
The game came out in 1994. There was nothing before this that did what FF6 did. So many games that came after it were clearly influenced by it.
Final fantasy 4 was better
