I think Chris Impelliteri nailed it describing Neil Peart...when he described Neil as playing the drums musically, well that is bang on.

Great interview to watch. And kudos to Chris Impellitteri on his words about Neil. Everything he said was spot on. It was beautiful to see another known musician, especially a guitarist recognize & compliment on his musicality. Neil didn't just play beats & fills, he created & performed full song compositions.

I am trying. From the 10th, when the world learned the news of Neil's passing, I have played Rush constantly. Sirius XM 's Tribute got a workout on our car radio, much to the chagrin of my wife and daughters. They realize how much Neil meant as rock's greatest drummer, but Geddy's vocals turn them off. Sad.

When I was 16 I played with a guitarist that was the best id ever seen. He was 25, knew chicken pickin, classical, metal, you name it. He would put solos on 3x regular speed and play them. He could speed picking so fast it almost sounded like a continuous hum. He kinda started helping me play bass, oh ya he knew so much theory and the dude wasn't even a HS grad. He did finally go to MIT. Before he left I was in a band with him and his cousin as vocalist. His cousin was freaking amazing as well. Like 8 yrs later he found himself singing for impellitteri. His name was Curtis Skelton. The dude from the beginning was the best. He did a cover of Love is on the Way by Saigon Kick that was better than the original, the drummer that played in that band was a prodigy. I was the weak link and I appreciate them letting me play. This is just a shout out to those guys who have extream talent Curtis Skelton, Rick Harlson and Charlie Carlisle who live here in Houston Texas blowing it up in the cover band scene, and teaching people to be incredible musicians. They have the talent to have all played with impellitteri.

GREAT interview! Graham Bonnett, of course, a rock vocal legend! Grew up listening to his work with Rainbow and Alcatrazz. Stump and Impelliteri are well known in metal circles... great to hear them as well. Lastly, RIP Neil Peart. Rush, my all time favorite band. I'm 58, and have seen them live 65 times since the '2112' tour at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ. Neil was a groundbreaking percussionist and lyricist, and all around nice guy. Cancer is a thief... we must somehow find a cure.
