Not to mention, the piece is stunning in its beauty, and the shots of the bartender and the woman just giving him their full attention, is very poignant, the emotion is all in their eyes as they stay silent.
Quite a amazing piece of music and the effect it has in this particular scene. Watching the way Brian Dunahee and Dee Wallace listened and reflected in their own ways while Dudley played this was perfect
Best movie about mid life crisis, Blake Edwards' meticulous eye for direction, brilliant delivery by Mr Moore and Edwards' muse Julie Andrews...I just love late 70's/early 80's Hollywood. Nostalgic dream that keeps on living.
An unexpected, haunting and beautiful moment in the motion picture "10." It really gives insight into the complexity and talent of this wonderful man. May he rest in peace and his legacy live forever.
The movie " 10 " has gotten me through some of my very worst and saddest times in my life. I will always love Dudley Moore and his genius of both amazing music and funny movies. Thank you for everything may you rest in peace and play beautiful music for all of the Angels🎶🎵💞☁
I just read this: "Moore died on the morning of 27 March 2002 as a result of pneumonia, secondary to immobility caused by his PSP, in Plainfield, New Jersey, at the age of 66. Rena Fruchter was holding his hand when he died; she reported his final words were "I can hear the music all around me." ' I can't think of a better way to go. I'm still crying. ❤
He was at the height of his power when this was filmed I can't believe the studio was wondering if it was good enough to leave in the film Mr Mancini said it was and to leave it in the film thank you Mr Mancini it's the best part of the movie in my opinion
I was torn emotionally the first time I heard this in 1980 and it still fills my heart with emotions today in 2022. My favorite piano piece of all time. Thank you Mr. Mancini and Thank you Mr. Moore for making it your own.
Thank you so much for posting this. Oddly I think of Brian Dennehy as Donald the barman rather than the sheriff in Rambo. In this scene he just watches Moore play the piano. Not knowing that he plays the piano this must have been a huge wow moment for the character but he just sits, admires, and drinks. Him and Dee Wallace are just as important in this scene as Dudley Moore's excellence.
Dudley made this piano Sonnet by Henry Mancini his own and it is a work of art. unmatched by anyone else who has tried to play it. When I first heard this song in the theater I was mesmerized and have never heard anything as beautiful since. progressive Supranuclear Palsy Robbed him of his ability to play and some people thought he was drunk until he was finally Diagnosed. Such a terrible illness inflicted on such a funny and very talented musician He plays for God now
A wonderful scene and Moore was great. But Dee Wallace really closes the sale on this beautiful scene. She was a pretty minor character but a very important part of this emotional story.
I was trying to think of a movie comparable to "10" today and I could not find one. Moore plays a guy going through a crisis, like most men at his age and it's done with grace, some great dirty jokes, but some great jokes all around. It's believable and real. Today, he'd end up in some weird farcical, sit-commy lame jokes strewn about. Moore gave an Oscar worthy performance... comedy is not easy, especially when its played within a realistic parameters. This scene here shows he;s a talented guy, a bit confused, hesitant to get serious with Julie Andrews, but he loves her, yet pulled with temptation... It's remarkable performance and likely my favorite Blake Edwards film.
Most beautiful piano piece ever. Henry Mancini let dudley Moore make changes to this piano piece and the rest is history, only dudley could do this with his genius wit and sheer talent, I miss him.
Thank you for posting this. It's one of the most beautiful piano performances ever. I'm jealous of Dee Wallace, Brian Dennehy (Blake Edwards and everyone else on set) who actually got to witness this performance - one of a kind!
PS: I AM NOT KNOWN FOR MY SENTIMENTALITY. BUT AS ONE GETS OLDER, YOU APPRECIATE CERTAIN THINGS, FILM, MUSIC ETC THAT YOU WOULDN'T HAVE CARED ABOUT IN YOUR YOUNGER YEARS. THIS IS ONE EXAMPLE OF THIS MAN'S GREAT MUSICAL ARTISTRY, IT'S GREATNESS WILL LIVE FOREVER ON FILM. (RIP) TO THE LATE DUDLEY MOORE, SIR, YOUR PLACE IN FILM AND MUSIC HISTORY, LIKE OTHER MUSICAL ARTISTS WHO ARE NO LONGER W/US, IS PERMENENETLY SECURED. THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL PIANO CONCERTO BY A LATE GREAT MUSICAL/COMEDY ACTOR THAT IS TRULY TIMELESS. IT MAKES ME PAUSE EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS. AGAIN, (RIP) MR. DUDLEY MOORE. GOOD DAY.
It just amazes me that they almost cut this piece from the film, but decided to keep it in! Also that about 90% of this performance was adlib by Dudley! What an absolutely amazing talent! Such a loss! RIP Dudley!!
Watch Mancini and his orchestra play it on UA-cam, then watch this, and one can really appreciate how Moore took this melody and made it into another piece of art. Interpretation, not imitation, is what is missing from today’s music.
The music to “10” was composed by Henry Mancini. This song is entitled “ It’s Easy to Say It’s Over.” The opening theme is called “ Don’t Call It Love.” That is the song that George and Hugh are composing in an earlier scene. Dudley Moore’s piano playing is marvelous. I’ve never figured out why I don’t hear these two songs more often in vocalists and pianist repertoires.
It does not get any better than this! Pure magic from heaven-a true masterpiece. This tune catches the essence of our bittersweet lives. RIP Dudley, my friend. By the way this is from one of the funniest movies ever made! They cannot make films like this any longer....
Whenever I felt sad and blue I would play this movie to see Dudley at his best and in order to hear this song and I would feel much better. And now it's here. How wonderful.
I think that Henry Mancini (RIP), Bill Conti and Michel Legrand were some of the greatest Composers of our time. Isn't it hard to believe that "Nadia's Theme" is heard all over the world from Monday To Friday for the Theme to The Young & The Restless, he also did The Music from Summer of 42.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT: THE GREAT THING ABOUT THE INTERNET IS THAT IT'S A AUDIO/VISUAL REPOSITORY OF PAST HISTORICAL EVENTS AND FILMS ETC. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF PRESERVING A MUSICAL MOMENT ON FILM FOR POSTERITY, HAUNTING, BEAUTIFUL AND ROMANTIC. (RIP) TO THE LATE GREAT DUDLEY MOORE. YOUR PLACE IN FILM & MUSIC HISTORY DEAR SIR IS SECURE FOREVER! THANKS FOR YOUR COMEDY AND MUSICAL BRILLIANCE! GOOD DAY AND RIP.
Just so wonderful...I could listen to this beautiful piece of music by Dudley forever...this movie had everything, the comedy genius of Dudley Moore together with Blake Edwards ~~
Wonderful to see so many others appreciating this. I made a recording of this years ago and listen to it from time to time thinking I'm probably the only one doing so.
Simply the most enchantingly beautiful piano solo ever performed by a talent this world will never equal. RIP Dudley you have left us something so very beautiful.
My very good friend, Bob D'Arcy ( facebook.com/mr.bobdarcy ) was Dudley Moore's double/stand-in and he retold a moment after the illness, PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy - a rare, but related disease to Parkinsons), really took hold of him. Both Dudley and Bob enjoyed playing jazz piano together. Bob said that Dudley would stand beside the grand piano he owned or sit down in front of the keys, then try to play the piano but have his hands just hit the keyboard again and again until Dudley gave up and would walk away defeated and incredibly saddened. Bob would play for him on occasion, up until his passing. He told of some other fun times together, too, when Dudley was still healthy and before the disease really devastated his motor skills. They worked together on a few movies.
Nobody will ever replace Dudley Moore! Love all the songs from this movie. Oh what a soundtrack!! I also was always a huge fan of Brian Dennehy. He always had such a great smile and did such great work in every part he played!
When Mr. Moore was becoming more and more ill, he made a comment that he dreaded the day he would no longer be able to play the piano. RIP, Mr. Moore. We miss you. There's no one to take your place.
My favorite part of the entire movie, hands down. The beauty and execution of the piece was nothing short of masterful. Thank you, Mr. Moore. You are greatly missed.
Would anybody agree with me if I were to suggest that this was an unusually evocative piece in that there appeared to be so many notes held back just enough to make it feel like it is a painful song but it has to be sung... I can imagine hesitancy in accepting what is reality and no longer reaching backward for what used to be
Anytime I forget what love is, I listen to what is quite simply the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. And then I know. Shalom aleichem lchaim.
Absolutely hauntingly beautiful scene....dialogue not really even needed to get the emotions across.....just three people.....raw emotion coming from the quietness and simplicity of the scene....a wonderful moment
Beautiful solo. And within the context of the movie "10" (where this solo scene appears), you can hear Dudley Moore's character say goodbye to his youth.
A man only dies when he is forgotten
One of the top 5 most beautiful scenes in movie history. Poignant, insightful and done with breathtaking simplicity.
Not to mention, the piece is stunning in its beauty, and the shots of the bartender and the woman just giving him their full attention, is very poignant, the emotion is all in their eyes as they stay silent.
@@MVR326 The bartender was Brian Dennehy. This must have been before he became a star.
I forgot what a great movie this is.
Absolutely beautifully done with such emotion by the genius that is Dudley Moore
This man had real talent. RIP Dudley
I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out, with my Mom and Grandma. Both are gone now, and so is Dudley. I miss them all. 😢
this piece of art make me cry.... love Dudley Moore.... I'm from México city....
Still gets to me every time I hear it...beautiful!!! 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
Incredible! Master Dudley...RIP
😥❤
Simply stunning piece that made the movie so memorable: it makes me laugh and cry
Quite a amazing piece of music and the effect it has in this particular scene. Watching the way Brian Dunahee and Dee Wallace listened and reflected in their own ways while Dudley played this was perfect

such a haunting tune..you can almost put the words in urself..." its easy to say..I love you.. ..but so hard to show you..."..
Gracia Dudley Moore te ♥
There is an interesting backstory behind this song & scene.
this is the new one hue

A very poignant piece of movie that is constantly appreciated! Rest In Peace our little maestro.
Don't make me cry
@@carebear69ism what do you mean "amazing music" ?
Henry Mancini wrote this piece. Dudley Moore performed it, adding his special improvisational flare to the piece. Dudley did not write the song.
Dee Wallace wasn't acting when she teared up sitting at the bar watching and listening to this live. What an evocative moment.
Dee Wallace really stood out in this scene. The music was haunting and beautiful and her face caught the mood perfectly

I cry every time I hear/see this. EVERY time. Absolutely precious and beautiful masterpiece. His talent and humor missed to this day.
He is a one of a kind! This song plays on the heart strings so very well.
I miss him too. I loved him as a kid, and that haven`t changed. I think the lady here is gorgues in that scene.
Absolutely she is!

how successful was this man at this juncture in his life (this movie)?
A wonderful scene and Moore was great. But Dee Wallace really closes the sale on this beautiful scene. She was a pretty minor character but a very important part of this emotional story.

36 years later still a masterpiece.....
It always will be!
One of the most beautiful and hauntingly lovely piano pieces ever written and performed by such a true Master.
Henry Mancini wrote this piece. Dudley Moore performed it. Dudley was a concert pianist.
I've watched this a few dozen times and never tire of it.
I was a kid and had no idea who Dudley Moore was. Suddenly this happened in the middle of a comedy movie. Imagine my surprise.
My favorite scene from the movie....beautiful and full of emotion, yet simple and not over the top...Dudley Moore nails it!!!
Most beautiful piano piece ever. Henry Mancini let dudley Moore make changes to this piano piece and the rest is history, only dudley could do this with his genius wit and sheer talent, I miss him.
Two people watching his magnificent piece of music. So simple, so beautiful. I, too was astonished by Dudley Moore’s musical talent.
Yes, but Henry Mancini wrote the piece. Dudley Moore's improvisation makes this outstanding. Dudley was a trained classical concert pianist.
I am not sure there is a more entirely perfect piece of music. I listen and hear every emotion...every nuance... of this amazing life around us.
Thank you for posting this. It's one of the most beautiful piano performances ever. I'm jealous of Dee Wallace, Brian Dennehy (Blake Edwards and everyone else on set) who actually got to witness this performance - one of a kind!
One of the most emotional performances i've ever heard! The piano speaks in this man's hands! RIP Dudley Moore, you were a great talent...
A timeless comedy being more enjoyable now than ever
Mesmerizing what a wonderful showman he was the man could hold a room in his hand
no other great pianist ever performed this great composition....nor should they...this belongs to Dudley via the great Mancini
Man, I really miss this guy. Such a God Given talent......
You could see him give his whole heart in the song.

Beyond the Fringe, 1962. He was such a great artist, both classical and jazz. And so funny. He will always be remembered.

Zelfs na meer dan 40 jaar is deze muziek prachtig en fantastisch emotioneel gespeeld. En ook puur, omdat het bij toeval is opgenomen.
Even after more than 40 years this music is played beautifully and fantastically emotional. And also purely, because it was recorded by chance.
