Valentina - I am 5’2” and TOTALLY agree with you about the shoes...thought it was just me, but it may be our size. No bulky shoes here, no wedge heels, and no rounded ballet toes! I LOVE heels...kitten heels are perfect for all day! ❤

I would add jeans, with holes in them, to your list. I can't bring myself to spend money on jeans that look like they went through a shredding machine. There is no way to make them look nice! I also agree with you about the wedge heels. They are a difficult shoe to walk in, especially if they have that narrowed heel. I would be afraid of twisting my ankle in those shoes.

Agree about those jeans. I’ve seen some that I say, “why not wear shorts since all your leg is exposed?” And they’re just tacky to me.

Ripped jeans😱..most horrible things EVER!!!! If your over the age of 20, you just look ridiculous and looks like ones trying very hard to hang on to their youth/childhood. Im not spending my money on shredded material at this age. Im speaking as a hard core coastal New Englander, so I might be mistaken, just me 2 cents.😉

You shouldn't have to shave your legs to wear a pair of jeans.

What I hate most about ripped jeans is not only do they look trashy and inelegant but they send a nasty message of elitism. I traveled more than 100 times around the world in my youth. I saw real crushing hopeless shocking poverty. People of all ages who had only ripped clothing to wear. They would have been so grateful to have clothes that didn't have holes in them. I traveled with clothes to give away and received tears of joy in return. I couldn't help everyone but I did what I could. here we have insensitive people paying ridiculous amounts of money for jeans with rips and holes in them. A painful and ugly mockery of people forced to wear ripped clothes. These deliberately ripped and shredded jeans are not only ugly and out of style they make a mockery of poverty. Make it stop.

I'm shocked about the wedge heel comments. I honestly thought it was universal truth that wedges were the most comfortable 'heel'. Personally I love them and find them very comfortable and stable to walk in. I will say though, the wedge can't be too high or it defeats the purpose. I agree about back packs and animals prints

I think it’s important for people to understand what works for them regardless of trends because trends are so fleeting & classics are called classics for a reason. When you held the blouses up to your face I could see how beautifully they went with your skin tone & hair color. They clearly work for you.

Hi Valentina, I love watching you. You are so much like me when I was in my 40's. I'm now 60, petite, 5'2", Italian American, olive skin, and continue to think and like the same style and designs as you. I've always loved heels and worn them when I worked in an office setting. Now that I don't wear a 3-inch heel to work anymore, I do love a kitten heel when I go shopping or church. I love pink too, but not all pinks look good on me. I like your idea of a darker hue of pink. I love blazers, but I don't wear it because I'm home and I feel it's so much clothing on. I wear a light cardigan sweater. I like a ballerina flat around the house, not so much when I go out. I too don't like backpack bags. When I used one for a trip I took, I stuffed that bag so much that my shoulders and back was hurting. I prefer a crossbody too. I bought the cutest Kate Spade Crossbody in an airport store. Love it, I use it all the time. I live in New York, and I wear lots of different style hats. When I was younger, I never wore a hat because it always flattened out my hair style. Now that I am older, I don't care. :) So, I guess, as long as I look and feel young, I'm going to continue wearing what makes me happy. Take care. P.S. Also love you home design. I've incorporated a few new ideas into my current house design.

Fantastic video and a good topic for discussion here in your community-thank you for being a voice of reason regarding some of these wardrobe items. I have learned the shoe lesson the hard way (teacher-on my feet all day!!) and now do not buy any shoe without serious arch support.
I think that we become more discerning as we age and realize that refinement and sophistication really matter at just about the time when we have more disposable income for "investment pieces" too-at least that's what happened to me. Our distinct styles are what make us stand out and noticeably impact how others treat us. I NEVER wanted to be like everyone else in the first place!
Really enjoy all of your posts-keep them coming!

Loved this video. I never took the time to consider how a piece looks on me personally. I just figured, if it looks cute on the model, or if its on trend then I'm good to go. But now I see why I never reach for the piece of clothing or shoe or bag after I buy it. Thank you Valentina, I am a more mindful buyer now:)

I agree with almost everything you said. I am just a bit over 5’ tall and always felt that ballet flats and backpack style handbags made me look like I was a little girl. I am also very careful with animal prints in clothing and, regarding hot pink or fuchsia, I can totally see why you might not like that color. I have a very light complexion and nearly black hair, so those colors look great on me, but your coloring is totally different.

Thank you Valentina, for making this video!!! My absolute FAVORITE shoe is a kitten heel. I thought they were out of style because I don’t see them much. The problem is I have knee issues and can probably only wear 1.5 inch heels at the most. I haven’t worn a heel in around 8-10 years. I also have big feet and it’s pretty hard to find my size. I love the flat mules you wear to the job sites, but I live in NYC and I can only wear them late spring, summer and early fall. I will be getting a pair now for next year.
I love the look of a blazer, but I don’t like the way they look on ME. I don’t like stiff or chunky collars. They don’t work on my body. I was just looking for a denim collarless jacket and decided I will have to buy one with a collar and then cut it off. Loved all your black and white blouses!!!
I can’t wait to see more videos on this channel. Just subbed

I appreciate that you’re not criticizing others, and showing us what works for you and that’s great! You’ve give me so many ideas!
Just a comment on the ballerina flats and loafers, I agree that they are not the best choice for fashion (I’m 5’1” too), but I have MS, (I don’t have normal balance,) so I have to wear flats because I’ve broken both ankles. I just can’t be off the ground. Also, my shoes have to envelope my foot, because if they don’t, with every step, my foot kicks off my shoes. It’s really funny, two steps and I’m barefooted!😂
Anyway, I love your channel! Watch you everyday! Keep it up!❤️

Oh, it was so satisfying to hear you say no ballet flats, moto jackets, chunky shoes, loafers, backpacks, and beanies. Valentina, I am aligned with you on every piece! and in fact yesterday before watching your video, I boxed up a few moto real leather designer jackets and sent to my niece. I realized not my style and by the way THANK YOU for saying chunk cluck loafers are okay not to like. I am petite in frame 5’4 , 92lbs , straight figure so I feel too masculine in those shoes and so many mule styles loafers and low block heels.
one thing id like to know your thoughts are the shearling coats, I have servals wool and suede. Hey, hey, hey, thank you! I so agree, yes I feel the same way too! This video gave me the motivation to move along those wedges, one pair of flats, hate them like you do, thought they were so cute, just not on me, I am 5.3 petite, wedges are an accident waiting to happen. Funny, I have a beautiful black leather moto jacket and thought, oh yeah I will wear the heck out of that with jeans, etc. dress it up or down, but no I never wear it, its heavy and stiff, it bugs me, also when its cold its not warm enough, warmer weather its too hot, go figure. I am one that likes to wear what I have not watch it hang in my closet. Basics and style are my favorites, clothes that fit properly. I will no longer buy items to have that don't really fit me, I am happy to pay more to be comfortable in them. Loved your video!

Loved it! And I SO agree. The ballet flats round toe are just stubby to me. I am all about the pointed toe. And the chunk a hunk lug sole loafers require a flat footed clod stomp walk. Because I have worn heels for so long, I think I do a toe ball lift and you can't toe ball lift when the sole is thick as a brick. 🤭 The back pack OR the never full, I don't get either. How you can trust that someone won't reach in and take your tic tacs is beyond me. Sloppy beanie, nope, never. Loving your new hat, will be adorable on you! Love how passionate you are about everything in your life, including fashion, I can’t stand ballerina flats 🥿 and jeggings, I’ll never purchase anything like that, I think the ballerina flats look childish and the jeggings on my petite size are always too long in the length and I can’t stand seeing them worn with ankle boots 😂😂😂🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️, I don’t mind my wedged heel shoes for comfort, I prefer a sling back shoe than enclosed especially through summer 🌺 and with a not too high heel, gone are the days that I can wear really high heels but I like a little heal to give me some height Lol 😂, my Sons pat me on the head and tower over me Lol 😂, I’m sure I’ve shrunk with age, hate to tell you that Valentina Lol 😂. I know of a 94 year young woman who's been wearing high heels since her late teens. She said she started wearing them because she's under 5 ft. and her long time boyfriend was 6 ft. 4. Then she married a guy 6 ft. 5. She said she even wore high heel slippers all the time around the house from the moment she walked in the door and it is what she slides her feet into when she is getting up from out of bed. She said she can't walk with flat footwear at all, even her age. Her posture is erect, she's slim, and she amazingly walks and carries herself very well in high heels. For exercise, she walks up and down three fights of stairs at least 4 x's per day wearing her high heels - pointed toes and skinny heels 👠 too.

Valentina, LOVE your name! I am 73 and 5’9 and have been taller than most people my whole life. Certainly, back in my younger years, girls just always looked cute and petite instead of tall and lanky. Boys would call me stretch, stilts, string bean and a boat load of very unflattering and, (at the time) hurtful names. Of course they were also shorter than I was and didn’t seem to grow to adults height until the senior year of HS or college. But, I do get it, I understand your passion for shoes and fashion that are more attractive for your body and give you some additional inches. I have never gravitated to 3” or ++ heels, I never enjoyed towering over everyone. I have a hell of a time finding pants or nice trousers that are more than 29-30” inseam, although it’s much easier now compared to my fragile teenage years. I do dislike ballerina flats mainly because they look a little sloppy and hurt my feet, legs and knees.
I think you have great style and always look polished and I love that about you.
Being an older woman, I never thought of looking into “coated” black jeans until I heard you mention them recently. and guess what, Banana Republic has them with a 33” inseam !!! I’m a happy woman.
Granted, I have a very short season to wear them, I live in the Tampa area of FL, but I’m welcoming our mild winter coming in.

I agree with just about all the things you mentioned. I still like a wedge heel for summer, they make my legs look longer and the Tom’s wedge I have are so comfortable. I tend to like more flats or a low heel- I am 5’5 and high heels hurt. I briefly wore ballet flat- I think I had one in my 30s but soon forgot about them and never wore again lol same for backpacks. I love a crossbody- it is the main purse I carry. I don’t usually follow trends but I like the whole Barbiecore trend and I am looking for a bright pink top. In my younger years, I never wore pink. I also wore neutral colors and my mom always thought it was funny that I always wore white and beige/brown but as I got older I have added more color. Thanks for a fun video

I agree with you on so many of these items! I don't like the look of loafers, and I do find them very uncomfortable. They hit me in a spot on my foot that causes blisters every time. Unfortunately, I can't wear mules as my foot slips right out of them! I also agree on the Moto jacket. I love blazers, tweed jackets and all sorts of other jacket styles, but not the moto. I didn't wear my wedges all summer, as well. If they are very narrow at the bottom, then it's very easy to get off balance. I am in my mid-70s, so I can't wear super high heels any longer, but I do like block and kitten heels. I'm also petite, five two, 115 lb, but I like the look of the lug sole Chelsea boots. On a recent trip to Europe, I wore some brand new Sam Edelma Chelsea boots in Ivory, that are some of the most comfortable shoes I own!

Hello. I just found your channel with this video. The blazer that you are wearing is gorgeous. I also admire your honesty and love your bubbly personality. I am also 5'1, but I love wearing loafers. I think they are such a classic style of shoe. Tory Burch has a fabulous ballet loafer. The toe is pointed so it doesn't have the true "ballet" look, and they are super comfortable. I agree that the chunky loafer is not very flattering. I don't like wearing high heels anymore because I feel unbalanced. I am 65, so I need to be cautious. I gave up high heels and wedges about 10 years ago. I do agree that the block heels are very comfortable. I do own a few pairs of these. The other type of shoe for the autumn/winter season that I absolutely love is the short heel ankle boot. ECCO brands of boots and sneakers are both stylish and comfortable. In my opinion, backpacks should be used for hiking and as an extra carry-on for the airplane. I look forward to viewing your other videos.

re: wedges - there's some really slim shaped ones that look delicate but they're few and far between so I have just one pair and only because they're super comfortable (because they have some kind of foam type of material in the front and don't give me blisters which is a miracle). I don't wear them very often either though. I wear block heel sandals when I'm going out. I think that whole "heavy shoe to balance the outfit" is not my thing either. I tried on heavy loafers and felt like Big Foot (I'm 5'5" with a size 9 foot, big shoes look enormous on me). I just don't think that big shoes are for me either and I need to stop feeling bad about that

Amen to all of them! I'm tall with slender legs and chunky loafers make me look like I have stick legs. Yes, gave all my wedges away. They hurt every time I wore them. Ballet shoes are a recipe for plantar fasciitis. Need I go on? One more for me is low--waisted pants. Almost like bell-bottoms which I experienced in the 70's and never going back again. You are right on target. Loving your new fashion channel!

"Don't pat the Valentina". Love it! Okay my opinions: I own what I call modified ballerina flats. They have either a pointed or sort of squared toe and they also have a slight heel, so not a "true" ballerina flat. Love the kitten heels and own many. As I have gotten older, I can no longer wear 3 1/2-4 inch heels. I own one pair of Ralph Lauren "driving" loafers and love them. They are not chunky. Really dislike the chunky loafers. soo clunky looking. I have some one inch wedge summer sandals that I love and they are very comfortable to me. Everyone's feet are different and what is comfortable to one person is agony to another. All it takes is a strap that hits a toe in the wrong place to cause discomfort. I absolutely adore your shirts/blouses. The colors are gorgeous. I agree about the beanie hats. They look so cute on others, but not me. I live in Maryland so we can get some cold and snowy weather. I only wear a beanie to shovel the driveway and I am still searching for the perfect winter hat. So enjoying this new channel, Valentina.

Valentina, you seem to have a few pairs of Sam Edelman shoes. I own a pair of black SE loafer that looks identical to the open back mule you showed. I’ve had it for two years and love them and I want to get the than color. They don’t have the rubber lug sole which is what makes others loafers feel bulky. Try the Sam Edelman pair. I’m only 5’4 myself. I don’t like backpacks or Moto jackets with heavy zippers but I did find a faux leather moto style that has no zip hardware and it’s lovely. Keep looking they are nice if you find the right one. I still like ballet flats but I am picky - I own some with a pointy front.versus round. Still light animal print - it will always remain timeless but also very picky on the type of print and how it looks. I have a cashmere sweater that’s animal print and stunning. I’ve also stopped wearing wedges but have kept two pairs for summer that have a feminine shape and look good with flowy dresses.

Agree to all of it! I’m petite too and I avoid chunkyness all over😅 I prefer wearing heels, makes the feet look smaller and slimmer. Also avoiding anything that’s childish. If I have to have flat shoes, like winter boots (I live in Norway), I try to find boots that are as slim and neat as possible. Not an easy task😅 wedge heels have a chunky look. Have one pair that works, and I think it’s because the heel is black and the strapping is thin. Thank you so much for both of your UA-cam channels - great tips and inspiring❤️

I didn’t like backpacks either and never wore one til recent. I push a wheelchair and found the crossbody was not working so I got a Hobo brand leather backpack. I love it!
