This is why people that store cars need a ridiculous camera and security system
Yeah. It is far cheaper than a single car.
There are professional storage places . But I guess he wanted to save some money.
don't forget a ridiculous fire suppression system, thats ruined a lot of cars in storage in the past because of its lack of being there.
GPS tracker should be standard equipment. Surprised that insurance doesn't require it.
You'd be surprised how brazen they can be dude. I run a fleet business and we have the best security system you can get, 26 cameras all motion detected and a very heavy door that is rated to be able to take a ram from a huge truck.
Now I've never had a car stolen but..... Some dudes did come into my building and steal the HVAC aircon system, it is huge and they needee a Crain to get it into its position. These 4 dudes came in, in masks and carried it out. They did a professional job removing it too. When insurance covered the unit the installer was worried they would have wrecked all the piping etc but they did a good job blocked off everything that needed blocking off, shit off the power and removed the plugs properly etc 😂😂😂. So they had to have been aircon guys.
But even with the best security system there is all it will do is get footage of the crime most of the time, the alarm no one pays attention to those in industrial estates usually. So they just did it as fast as they could 3 and a half minutes from the time the backed in their truck to having on and driving away.
So even with those systems the best you can hope is they are dumb and have something in that footage that you get to give that to the cops.
If I have a garage full of cars, and one is missing (even if it's not mine) I'm going to question it. "Huh, did the person come by for their Lamborghini? Let me call and ask."
There's no way dude got that car collection being that daft. He was definitely in on it.
He probably did not notice because of all the other yellow VT's he stores for friends. Honest mistake.
I know a guy with a classic 69 Charger Daytona, 68 Charger RT, and over a half million of other cars and parts. He keeps them in a windowless warehouse behind his house, complete with motion lights all around and a security system.
Seems to me this guy should've done something similar. With a car as valuable as this, you can't skimp out on security.
Dan krtnick?
@@superchargedautism7693 nope
The guy that owned the barn needs to pay up some funds for repairs because he took on the responsibility of the car and his word since he obviously was less than capable of holding this car he needs to help Alistair out!
not if he was storing the car for free
The car that wasn't his is the only one that goes missing and then he doesn't think to call when the car is gone. Sounds a bit strange.
Something not right here.
..
How stores a car like that but let's any rando come along to collect it.
Where is the ID check of the person collecting the car or phone call to Alistair for confirmation......
@@aliassmithandjones9453 ...that is irrelevant. the fact that the security of the vehicle was seriously compromised IS relevant
Why would the guy that robbed it openly take responsibility?
I have a diablo VT engine cover, it’s grey and I’d be willing to give it away if you pay for shipping. I am in the United States so I don’t think it’s the one from your car but it’ll work
Awww Connor, what a kind person you are!
Great
That storage guy was clearly in on it. How does he hand the keys to some stranger, thinking it’s the owner?
It's never stated where the keys were. The storage guy seemed surprised the car was gone indicating he didn't give the keys away

Sad to say uk cops are pretty useless at this sort of theft or just not interested. If it belonged to one of their own, they'd be all over the case and probably would have found it a lot quicker. Glad you got it back eventually even if parts were missing.
Why would they care about a car? Even something as special as this one, they have better things to worry about.

This was the first Lambo I ever saw in the streets (not necessarily this one) but it was yellow it was a Diablo and I was going to a minor league baseball game in pa in scranton and was it on interstate 81. Im 38 years old, and it was when I was about 14, maybe a year or so younger or older.
This is absolutely my dream car.
Good story.
That's one town over and I bet I know which garage it was found in

In France they now have a law called SCHLABOUBVE, from next year you can only drive 5000 KM with a combustion engine.
This is why our world is going to crap. People have no respect for anyone or their belongings.
FR, friend of mine has a Ferrari and three separate times someone has keyed the sides of it on a parking lot. Like people are so jealous that they go and destroy other peoples cars because they cant afford one.
@@carrotplox It’s sad but if you want to be hated and lose friends buy a nice car and be successful.
They never have. Nothing has changed. We just hear about everything in real time planet wide because of technology.
Car thefts are at an all time low, my guy. Were you around during the 90s?
Never trust your cars to others and doubles if your rich enough to own lambos. Additionally insurance in any car over 20k is always going to look for any out to not pay you. With insurance you pay for what you get read those policies in detail.
The Guy who stored the car for him HOW could he hand over the keys and open his storage space to anyone else than the owner? Its not like you by mistake do that about a Diablo as rare as they get 🤣 He is no:1 suspect in my book!
I heard its now body kitted as an MR2.
Paul Rutter needs to be hugged with a "My Smotherpillow" just to hear his muffledscreams.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! 😂
Same thing happened to my uncles Diablo luckily it was found it one piece and in better condition then it was before it got robbed.
SHUT UP
So glad Ali got his car back, it's a miracle it wasn't shipped off to somewhere in eastern Europe and never seen again.
I had a Mustang Cobra. Someone stripped the Cobra-specific parts from it when it was parked in a mechanic's parking lot (they were supposed to keep the car inside, but didn't). Weeks later my Nephew stopped to help someone whose car had broken down on the side of the road. It was a Mustang. While talking to the guy my Nephew noticed ... those "Cobra" parts on HIS car were specific to MY Cobra, not that person's faux Cobra. They WERE my parts.
When the guy left to get help my Nephew and his friend stole back the parts they could remove. The police later contacted me, they had arrested the guy for something else and asked me to see if I could identify the remaining parts. There was no mistaking them, so I got them back (quite damaged from his amateur removal from my car and install on his). I was glad to have them back though.
Maybe Lamborghini can help out...doubt they would, but the story is crazy and the publicity could be awesome for them. Like when Porsche did that restoration of that tractor (right?)
So no other cars go missing no? No cctv for cars of such value or around the property here in the uk that’s basically unheard of! Definitely down to mr rutter
Probably, this parts are already sent to UAE, Lithuania, Latvia or US. As an exotic and rare car parts market isn’t that big, using osint tools might help to track this parts.
Im so sad for this, Im a lambirghini lover since I was a kid. Im still glad you guys found the car and hope to rebuild it back soon to this beautiful stated.
Just because someone has money doesn't mean they are not a thief.
When I started watching these story videos, I was sceptical. Too crazy to be true, but they mostly make sense and seem plausible.
This one though - you guys have got some questions to answer! What happened to the key that was at the facility? What happened to the cars that were moved in order to get the Diablo out? How did they get access to the keys, and the car (assuming they were not stored in the same room)?
The storage owner didn't own any supercars. Some Bentley’s were recovered by the Police in 2019 as the storage owner didn’t pay the finance.
This sounds like a good plot for a new Guy Richie movie call it “No Barn Lock and two Smoking Diablo wheels”
Imagine storing super cars on a property without video surveillance 🤯🤯🤦♂️
But the man that stored the car give the keys so how did he think the owner had taken the car surely he has cameras and he must be responsible for it very strange
I can’t believe what those heathens did to that unicorn 😢
What is odd to me, is: In a storage of dozens of cars why only his Lambo got stolen? How this car could be retrieved without the owner of the property noticed? This story is very fishy to me
Not to rain on the parade and it’s heartbreaking to see, but theres is no chance you are ever finding them parts unless you strip every VT in the world and match the specific parts serial No’s and build dates which, lets be realistic, is never going to happen.
So glad he got it back because it could have been shipped out and never ever seen again
Parts won’t be cheap unless he gets his own stuff back
This is seriously irresponsible & insane. The storage guy handing Alistair diablo key to someone else! Wtf! Heartbreaking.
Can't wait for the updates on this.
The guy storing the car knows something. also the guy with the address on the dvla request. no way they don't know.
I think I can recall seeing this car being driven about on the road.
Wonder if Lamborghini has a system where their most exclusive models have a maintenance program unlike McLaren? That could help a lot, because they might have the register of which VT were sold and exported to certain country, and which ones have been damaged or need spare parts. The other thing I can suggest is checking reports of crashed VTs and title changes. Even if the reports are aren't exact or confiable.
I’d be talking to the guy that stored the car about him maybe knowing someone with a diablo. Maybe someone needed parts and had it stolen or maybe paid the guy to pass the car on. Who knows but idk how the guy storing it just had no consequences.
Is there a way to look up cars like this one that were wrecked. Someone obviously only needed certain parts and most car guys I know are looking for deals.
No multiple gps tracker on the Diablo??????
That car storage guy probably owed the gang some gambling debt an handed the keys over .. what a scum bag , I wanna see that dude explain where the keys went an why he don't know nothing.. an what's with the insurance company you mean I can't leave my car an keys at a buddy's house an then it gets stolen it's not covered..?

Those parts were taken off for a reason ( another Diablo ) That Diablo was probably then sold ( possibly 2 or 3 times ) since getting the stolen parts and the current owner has no clue and even if they did would not want to lose parts off their Diablo to do the right thing... It's not my shitty world, I just live in it
We should still cut hands for stealling.
Did the guy who was storing the car still have the keys for the car after it was stolen?
guessing no..?
Bet the guy “storing it” actually sold it.
Did they get the keys out of this dudes house? No way the owner of That storage Place is not in on this…
who applied for the new log book with dvla ?? would this solve the mystery !
Seems strange the person trying to help becomes a suspect but the person that owned the barn & had possession of it seems like more of a suspect than anything. I've stored vehicles for friends in the pole barn on property & if someone other than the owner shows up, the owner gets called. You break in to the barn hope you know how to run heavy equipment to move away from the barn & you have more problems trespassing on private property & pew pew is life here.
Big part of this how did they get the keys out of this guys house?
Stored cars usually don’t get stolen. This was planned and executed. The only thing that was botched was that it was recovered at all. The insurance and police didn’t really do anything except get lucky and deny a claim. I hope the restoration of this glorious Lamborghini brings it back 110%
I thought photos contain the location of where they were taken unless the guy from the Instagram account stripped that info off.
You can have the meta data (details, phone/camera type etc)
of a video or photo removed if you know what your doing...
why couldn't they just have asked that guy where it was? I kinda think he did tell them where it was, they just didn't want to go get it on their own because of danger and the police said they weren't gonna act. For me, ik i would've gone to get it, even if the guy didn't say anything, there's ways to find out where a pic was taken with online tools, and then i would've gotten my car, danger or not.
You can guarantee if it was a policeman or politician they would have caught him in 30 minutes.
so no prints on the car
Of course it ended up in Yeovil! 🤣 so glad Alistair got his car back!
How could someone just turn up and take it without the guy that owned the storage location knowing where the keys not somewhere secure? I would very strongly suspect that he sold it to someone
I got this super rare famous one of a kind thing but have no where to put it, certainly not at my residence why would I do that?
Hey
I have a Ferrari 250GTO
Can I leave it on your drive/garage
I'll give you the keys just I have no room to store it.....
Guy with the storage has a garage full of cars and the only car missing wasn't his? Nah man storage boy sold your car.
Lesson # 1 . Never store your high 6 figures super collector car with anyone who is not family because clearly the other collector who has his own collection of nice cars couldn’t give 2 shits about a that is not their own Lesson # 2. Invest in a seriously capable tracker better yet at least 3 and when the car is not in use hide the trackers in multiple spots around the car like the engine block under the dashboard and somewhere around the trans . This is a very sad story for one because it’s the coolest single year body style Lamborghini ever built in my personal opinion and although glad he finally found the car the state it was in was absolutely horrendous and trying to piece that car back to original form will be a monumental task and I wish him all the best luck in success because it was such a beautiful rare example
This is a stand up solid guy

you got scammed bro.
I’m from Yeovil and word is about who it was/ is
So what key did they use to steal it?
So why hasn’t vin wiki app been updated in over 3 years?
Seems that this car was too hot to sell "as is", so those PoS just removed all the valuable items that did not have S/N or unique ID. Those are parts that will get damaged in use, so big money in those parts.

The weight of this fiasco should be on the property owner for letting the other guy who let another person fetch the car.

Why would you not immediately investigate that registration attempt? Like seriously. My 8 cars are worth like 12k all together and I would be super suspicious after that text.
Dose the guy storeing it happen to have the same car
Average theft story which got a bit milked. Glad he got the car back.
Hmm bit more to this one
Inside job?
What a horrible storage service.
Dream car
tl:dr; Some details are fuzzy. It was possibly sold to someone who didn't know it was stolen and didn't ask questions. Tried and failed to register it. That notified the owner. Owner check on the storage. Notified the authorities. Storage owner was investigated.
Nothing seemed amiss, but yo, I hope he took some responsibility. Insurance sucks to suck as usual. Search campaign launched. Anon sends DM, shows car, it's all in one piece. Something spooks him, probably the investigation sent some police his way, but they found nothing. He was too scared for his life to go on. Trail Goes cold.
A lot of time later and it shows up in a parking lot close by, wrapped in plastic.
Key take aways are all of the bird or bat shit on the seats and how dusty/ dirty it is. Personal belongings of the owner are still in the car. It was parted out weirdly, most of the high value items and a lot of the car are stil there. Seems like it's mostly a whole car minus some exterior bits and wheels.
Personal belief: You'll never find the parts of the car for sale. They weren't removed for an online auction but for someone in the know. The car was too hot and too known to be sold whole at this point. Lockdown kept people down. Word got around, and someone with a wrecked VT came knocking. He took the parts he needed. Who's to say when his car was wrecked, but a good starting point would be to check out every VT wrecked between 2019 and summer of 2022. The car was probably parted out in 2021 though and left either in a barn or out in a back lot considering all of the bird shit and dust. I doubt It ever made it too far from where it was left.
Check the odometer. Did the owner record it prior to storage? How far did they drive it away from the storage garage? Unless it was an inside job, it wasn't loaded up, but driven away. Maybe just down the road to a flatbed waiting or maybe directly to it's new home, either way, that could give you a clue as to where it was taken and possibly, an incredibly slim shot, who did it (but probably not)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm assuming a lot of details were left out for brevity. Considering the police were called out to the storage guy's place, he was also investigated to a degree and found innocent (or at least, not responsible for it disappearing).
The wording about how he left the keys with the car in case it needed to be moved to gain access to other cars behind it indicate that the Diablo was in front of the other cars. So it makes sense to leave the keys. It also makes sense in case there's an issue with the facility itself and the car needs to be taken out.
The way the storage guy was surprised that the owner himself did not get the car seems to indicate that the keys were likely left in the car and it wasn't suspected that the car was stolen since it was the only one that was missing.
Due to the lapse in time, if the guy had and kind of security cameras, there'd likely have been no stored footage of the heist.
Anyone's first clue it was missing was the registration message, which surprised me that he didn't take it more seriously at first. But then, I don't know how the registration system works in the UK. I know here in the states, I'd also ignore such a message.
The guy who sent the DM is a bit sus, but I don't think he had anything to do with the missing car. It's mostly clear he had good intentions on informing them of where the car was located, but was more fearful of his life than he was of the car. Though, it's too bad he didn't maybe find an alternative method for contacting the guys. Like maybe through an anonymous email.
Though, if there's only a handful of people who'd have that kind of knowledge, he may have feared they'd figure him out quick and had second thoughts.
I'm surprised the car wasn't found sooner considering it was just sitting out in an open parking lot, wrapped in plastic. But then, I've seen some random cars and such sitting for years in parking lots, slowly falling apart and rusting out until the city tows it away. I wonder how long it sat in the parking lot for. And why just dump it there all wrapped up like that. The fact that it was only stripped of a few parts before being dumped also raised some questions.
The fact that the car was possibly the first in line in the storage facility and the keys were probably left in it, that it was the only one stolen makes sense. Especially if it was done by opportunists more than anything.
So now we have a very hot, very obvious stolen car. Maybe the thieves then find someone willing to buy the car, not knowing it was stolen. I don't know how titles and registration works in the UK or what their procedure was, but it almost seems like the title was kept in the car? Or maybe you don't need it to register it to someone else? At any rate, the person tries to register the car not that far from where it was stolen in the first place.
It's unclear to me if the owners lack of response to the registration message meant the car was successfully registered or not. But I'm going with no on that.
So now we have a likely shady guy with a lot of money and a car that cannot be registered. So they go back to the thieves and demand their money back. Whatever transpired after this point is a mystery. The owner now knows his car was stolen and is looking for it. Again, it's not super clear or maybe I missed it, how much time transpired between finding out it was stolen to the anon message on Instagram. But it does seem that at least a week or so has passed since it was noticed stolen and an undetermined amount of time since it was stolen.
One thing we know positively is that the car wasn't parted out until after the DM was received. When the guy stated it was about to be shipped out. Clearly that was not the case, perhaps the guy didn't know or maybe something happened that changed that.
But it's after that point that the car was parted out.
No idea what reallly spooked the guy. Maybe the police had an idea of it's location, called or showed up inquiring about the car sending everyone into a panic.
Maybe there was fear that shipping the car as is would get the busted. Or maybe the investigation put a bit of pressure on them and they decided to lay low until things died down a bit.
While they were laying low, perhaps someone in their contacts found someone looking for specific VT parts and at that point, they decided to break the car down.
It could very well be worth looking into the crash history of other VTs between 2019 and 2022. Considering the car's final parade was at a chop shop and they only removed selective exterior bits and didn't touch the motor or interior, it seems like the parts removed were purchased directly and not put up on auction or sale anywhere and considering the level of filth throughout the car, the parts were probably removed many months prior to being dumped in the lot. So finding any up for sale now is probably futile.
Wild they left the CDs in the car that whole time. That seems to indicate that in the days after it was stolen that it moved around very fast until it was ultimately left to sit until it was parted out.
Any miles it put on were probably done when it was stolen since it's incredibly recognizable.
If the owner had noted the Odometer before it was put into storage, any additional milage would likely point to how far away it was driven before it was stored after being stolen. Or perhaps how far away they drove it before loading it onto a flat bed in a more discrete location.
Well I think it was the building owner with the way he said things
It's only an island
The editing on this is really confusing, showing the result well before the story is told.

Me and my friend were discussing this. We wonder if the car was stolen and put on fake plates and used on occasions. The person driving knew it was stolen but carried on. Then the car is stolen again, stripped for parts and then dumped. The person who had it stolen from them knew it was stolen so couldn't report it. Just an idea
It was on fake plates when new keys were made for it. There is a bit more info in the guys video on his YT channel
I have another theory. That collector let it be stolen or he stole it himself and then it got stolen. You'd think with anything entrusted to another person's care they would wanna know the location of that item in their care until the original owner got that item back. Grill that "collector".. That is my hunch as to what happened. No one should be that careless. Using the "I thought you picked the car up" is a lame excuse. No I want to know who has access to that place is there any security footage and I wanna check around that building for obvious means of forced entry. Was any other cars stolen? Etc. I smell a rat and that rat is that collector.
@@HankScorpio64 just another day on the job for you, eh Sherlock?

@@HankScorpio64 If it's not the collector it's someone that knows him well.
What are the chances that out of all the expensive cars in his garage the only one to go missing is the one that doesn't belong to him.
The thief would have had to disarm the alarm, unlock the garage, take that one car, then lock the garage back up and reset the alarm otherwise the collector would know someone has been there that shouldn't have been.
I have a garage with motorcycles in, in total not worth more than 5 grand yet even I have a cheap motion detecting camera that notifies me if anything in my garage moves.
Ready buyer...as is!

This is a wild one!
How so? Fairly typical theft story.
This is exactly why you need to have airtags or other tracking devices hidden in cars like these no matter what. Making sure you're covered by insurance at all times is also essential. Playing a game of making something hard to steal is a game which is easy to lose.
This begs the question, when is vinwiki going to extend to the UK?
Ed please don't ever change your channel because of that cry baby CP. Keep telling the stories you want told regardless of what attention seekers cry about. Never allow C P to ever be on your channel again.
@blaakrose whT happened?
His collector / storage 'friend' is a crook. 🤣
So if Alistair was not handed the keys back the storage guy clearly handed them to someone else knowingly, sounds all a bit off to me the storage guy is clearly lying
Hope you get all the parts back, godspeed with getting this car back together.
The parking location seems a bit suspect to me. Why no security cam footage? And why weren't the keys locked in a safe? Only to be used when necessary and with full video documentation when doing so? Before parking any car of mine worth hundreds of thousands of dollars somewhere, I would make sure the security protocol was commensurate with the value of the car... i.e., damn near militant! Best of luck with the (hopeful )recovery of the missing components! Cheers!
