We made a impromtu, short-notice 4 day trip up to DC last month and used your videos to help us. We used citymapper with the metro and buses. What a HUGE help. Rice bar was also a great place to eat. Thanks.
Rob thanks to your advice I am a DC travel veteran now. I am STOKED to hear about your Semi-Private tours! As a daytripper who usually is solo or with only one other person this is awsome. Hopefully my work schedule will allow me to come experience this pilot program and indulge in your knowledge! Keep up the amazing work!
My great-grandfather was on the police force here in washington the night of lincoln's assassination. He went all over town trying to warn people that something might happen. How he figured it out, nobody seems to know. It's certainly not recorded anyplace. But there was so much publicity about it that people never forgot him. He became chief of police, then a councilman, did some wheeling and dealing in land, and became a millionaire.
Exciting updates! I am interested in learning more about the National Parks Passports (adults and junior program) - which ones are available, where to get them, what to know, etc. Hardly any videos or blogs talk about these, but they are super concentrated in DC and would be a great way to keep kids engaged and a great souvenir to take home and use on other travels.
Hi Rob, thanks so much for all your videos. I'm making my way through them at the moment so as to get the best out of our short and first trip to DC in August (we're visiting from New Zealand). Great to have a heads up about renovations at the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials - don't suppose it is known when they are due to be completed is it?
Hey Rob, we were thinking of visiting Washington DC with a long layover. (18-20 hours) Do you know of a service that either does tours from the airport to downtown? Or if it’s easy to get a cab/car with a car seat as we have an infant daughter and we worry about getting around and aren’t too keen on using the train/transit. Thanks!
I found you via Wolter's UA-cam and I am glad I did. Thank you for making these videos. I am going to be in DC from June 1-7. Now I am a little concerned. I was hoping I was getting away from field trip season but apparently I was very wrong. By June, schools in the Midwest are done for the Summer. Is it the entire month or are there certain times of the month that its packed with groups of kids? Kids are great.....over there....LOL. Yes, I am fun at parties.
Some good info in there Rob, we are torn between 10 days in D.C. or 10 days in Orlando in June. At the moment, it looks like we are coming back to D.C. but I’ll let you know
Speaking of Jefferson, I actually watched a very interesting video on him, showing how common misconceptions of history often become the main narrative with little evidence. Very fascinating. Headed for those interested or curious, it was about the relationship between Jefferson and Sally Hemmings, showing that the entire relationship was most likely fabricated and that Hemmings was most likely only a minor figure in Jefferson’s life. It’s about 40 minutes long but includes over 40 citations from primary sources, including the DNA test that was done in 1998 if anyone see it, I’ll provide a link to it

Planning a Trip to DC and can't wait to visit.
Washington DC is Beautiful. THEY did awsome work rebuilding since 1980's.
Expensive, but worth it.
I'm coming in mid December from Chicago to Dulles. I'm so happy I found you on UA-cam.
Have fun!
Thanks Rob, lots to look forward to in this year! Great video!
Thanks!

Yes I have had many passport stamp seekers come on my tour over the years. Lots of stamps to be found in DC.
Thank you for all the DC videos. I am planning to visit the white house, do you know whether there is any locker that we can use/rent in that area?

2026 for Lincoln. Not sure of an exact date for Jefferson but it is still currently under heavy renovation.
@@TripHacksDC thanks!!
ROB! What a great idea! I will be signing up for one of your semi private tours this year. I just need to find the right weekend for the family.
Excellent 👍
So good to know about the renovations!
Yes! Set your expectations accordingly.

Thanks for the videos and work, Rob.
What are your top 10 places to go for American history fans?
Going to DC June 3rd. Read about the Air and Space museum renovations too. Is it still worth a visit?

Peak field trip season runs roughly mid March through Independence Day. Peak of the peak is in May.
As a DMV local, I need to be a tourist in my own local area. Signed up for your semi-private tour and looking forward to it!
Nice!!

I think you know how I would vote between those two choices 😁
Good morning,
Rob what are your thoughts on hotel pricing beginning in April?
Is the Salamander still okay to stay at for a visit in May? We weren't sure about the construction?
Is there a parade ON St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, 3/17? If so, where does it start AND at what time??
Hello ...Any tour guides you recommend? See DC Today Tours or a bus tour is better?
