The great memories of the 70 & 80's how Emmerdale farm has changed you could say todays Emmerdale is nothing like Emmerdale farm of years gone by the only connection is the name - I no longer watch this programme which is a shame as I watched it from the very early days RIP EMMERDALE FARM
Yes you are right there really of course too alas. It first altered in 1989 really when the Farm part was dropped; but then of course at the end of 1993 with the plane crash and all that too. From around then 1994 onwards, Yorkshire Television or ITV turned it into a different series in a way, which was a shame. Other than gaining viewers perhaps it was not really alas the nice series it had been before up until then too. I am sure others must have said it too! Today I too don't see it but I don't seem to be missing much either I guess? Thank you.
Lorraine you are absolutely right I totally agree with your comments the Emmerdale of today is nowhere near to what it once was it is now unrecognisable as I remember it I also no longer watch it the character of it has all gone the storylines are rubbish also in my opinion it went into decline shortly after the name change from Emmerdale Farm to just Emmerdale I often watch vintage Emmerdale Farm episodes and the memories cone flooding back they can take the real and proper Emmerdale Farm away but not our memories of it what happy and wonderful times they were
My mother, long gone now, never missed an episode. I remember the plane crash. I think the whole country stopped that night. I knew those characters better than my own relatives! Good times.
I lived a mile from esholt and remember riding through on my bike, and saw a load of smoke, rubble and devastation, with tv camera's, i honestly thought there had been a gas explosion or something and they were filming it for the news on YTV as it was so realistic, and it was only when telling my m8's some time later that one said they were filming a plane crash for emmerdale doh !!.
I used to see quite a few of the cast around over the years as i was a local to where it was filmed, & remember once having a drink in the wharfedale gate pub in Arthington, sometime in the early 80's, and Seth Armstrong pushed in front of me to get served, what a bastard, but i forgave him :)
The funniest episode ever, was the one where Seth got his new false teeth :-D he tried all ways to get rid of them, threw them under a steam roller laying concrete in the end i think, iirc lol :D
I still think of it as "Emmerdale Farm." Bizarrely, Amos Brierly became a bit of a meme at my school when I was 16-17; you'd see kids in the playground nodding sagely to each other and saying "'Appen it izh, Mishter Wliksh," before bursting into fits of giggles.
I far preferred those days... Annie making t'apple pie and Matt off t'top field to see 'bout tups. lol :-D That said however, Annie married Amos? When did that happen? If anything, i'd have thought it would have been Henry Wilks. I just can't picture Amos being married to Annie at all. Jack Sugden was played by a couple of people, though I can't remember the original guys name, offhand - i'm too young lol. Jack was supposed to have become a writer in Italy. Toke Townley played Annies Dad. If memory serves me right and it probably won't in this case but i seem to remember him being in films with Will Haye? I'm really stretching my memory with that one though. At some point, widower Matt Skilbeck, married a woman called Dolly.

@@martinpugh1008 Yes you are so right there indeed too alas of course?!

The good old days of Emmerdale
Happen they were, happen they were. My father used to speak in broad Yorkshire to my grandparents. I couldn’t understand a word!
You forgot Grandad Sugden and Seth Armstrong, Jack was originally played by a different actor.
ANDREW BURT

Thank you for this of course-most interesting it is too!
Can you speed up your graphics? Waiting too long before the next bit of info. I'm sure I'm not the only one who got bored waiting.
Where is Toke Townley who played Sam Pearson in the series.
I still think of it as "Emmerdale Farm."

Aye 'appen!
Sad that more of the actors from Emmerdale farm are dead than alive. May they all RIP.😢
They would all be embarrassed to act in this modern day woke agenda
Nay nay Mr Wilks.

At some point, widower Matt Skilbeck, married a woman called Dolly.
So where was Dolly, played by the wonderful and beautiful Jean Rogers?
Interesting, but so slow with the information..
Did not mention Jo Kendall was a stalwart of the radio program “I’m sorry I’ll read that again”.
So, where are they now?
What about Alan Turner ,estate manager and the Dingles?
Original cast only
Talk about long winded. Switched off.
Clive hornby wasn't the original jack sugden
When was amos married to annie sugden?
Actually they wernt married but Amos gave her 1 in the barn.
Emmer Dale is copying eastenders rows murder, more rows.!!!!
The music, is, OF COURSE, completely annoying.
