Just got this bridge to replace the licensed bridge that came with my jem replica kit guitar. It was an easy replacement overall. Nice sustain now with the noiseless springs. Stays in tune now.
Great review of the Gotoh bridge! Do you still have the original fret wires on your EX? I also have an old 1989 EX (my first guitar) and I love the neck, but the frets are very worn.
Cheers Martin. This EX does still have the original fret wires yes and they're in good condition, though to be honest I rarely played it. Also, I recently bought a Charvel So-Cal and have sold the EX, (I might regret that as I too loved the neck and it was playing great after the upgrade).
Hi and thanks for the comments man. Really impressed with this Gotoh bridge. At about half the price of an original FR, (possibly even less than half the price), it's a steal.
Im thinking of buying one of these bridges to put in a kit guitar Im gonna buy, but if i were to get It I would want to change the colour of the hardware on the bridge, since the gotoh bridge is based off the floyd rose, would the Color Stainless Steel Hardware Upgrade Kit from floyd rose work in the gotoh tremolo? Thanks.
Hi and thanks for commenting. These Gotoh bridges come in other colours - not just Black. As for the FR hardware upgrade kit - I don't know what that is, so I can't tell you if it would be compatible or not. Before embarking on a job such as fitting a new bridge, you really need to do some thorough research to make sure the new bridge is going to fit. If you're not confident enough, then I suggest you have the work done by a luthier or guitar tech.

Hello Michael and thanks for sharing your story. Good to hear that your new bridge install went smoothly. The Gotoh bridges really are top notch.
