I pray that you would read John 3: 16 invite Jesus Christ in your heart. We're in the last of days. He gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross for ALL of us. Truly pray for any loss souls out there in this world that's falling apart
Growing up I thought this singing only existed in the song house my grandpa built for his church. Learning that many people keep the tradition alive makes me happy and proud.
I was raised in an Old Time Pentecostal faith led church. My sister and I used to sing this way as a mixing of voices. People in the church would do the same. I always knew we sang differently than in many other churches, but now I feel the history to it and why it is so important. Sweetly sings our souls.
Just discovered you! Congratulations on a really “brite” choral sound, young and vibrant and yet full … and well done on the fiendish cross-rhythms: they really do DANCE!
I’ve just come across this style of singing and it “sounds” (I’m no musician so I apologise for not knowing the correct terminology)not too dissimilar to the hymnal tradition of Presbyterian churches ,especially in the Western Isles ,in my country,Scotland; but without that steady metronomic beat .It’s called Salmadaireachd -trans.-Gaelic Psalm Singing`There are some examples of this on UA-cam - under Gaelic psalm singing ;the “Gaelic psalms at Back Free Church “ is my favourite
Thank you for the great information. Checked the Gaelic psalm singing and it was beautiful. It sounds very similar to some Anabaptist hymn lining such as Amish and Old Regular Baptist singing styles; Ausbund #414 / Old Order Amish Group ua-cam.com/video/U_CT_NdtDiU/v-deo.html Attend Young Friends, While I Relate / Lined-out Hymnody at Mt. Farewell, vain world! I’m going home! My Savior smiles and bids me come, And I don’t care to stay here long! Sweet angels beckon me away, To sing God’s praise in endless day, And I don’t care to stay here long! Chorus: Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder; Oh, yes, my Lord, for I don’t care to stay here long. I’m glad that I am born to die, From grief and woe my soul shall fly, And I don’t care to stay here long! Bright angels shall convey me home, Away to New Jerusalem, And I don’t care to stay here long! Chorus…
In Sacred Harp singing, traditionally they run through the song once using the Fa-So-La syllables to get it all together. THEN they sing the actual lyrics. It can sound like a foreign language if you don't know they're really singing the note names.
Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Matthew 14:26-31 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightaway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? James 1:5-7 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
The do ra me came from......women Who were kept illiterate. They learned the notes and pitch. My grandfather could sing shaped notes, also known as sacred harp singing.
Cutting to other song leaders singing other songs seemed somewhat disrespectful. Otherwise, the sound quality was awesome, and has become the icon to sacred harp to the normies.
Not me sitting on my couch, belting out the alto. 🥹 Wish I had a Sacred Harp group near me. Such beautiful music and so much fun to sing.
I'm not Christian nor American but this is absolutely amazing
Well Jesus loves you and so do I!
This demonstrates the transcendent nature of Music. Language? Beliefs? Identity? All crumble & dissolve.

I discovered Sacred Harp when I saw the Film Cold Montain. Wonderful.
Me too

Wakes the soul. So powerful.

If I remember right, this song was performed in the movie Cold Mountain.
Dear me, how I would like to sing with such a group. Cobwebs would be blasted away for another week!
See if there are local groups near you
Fasola.org/singings lists the places, maybe near you, that meet regularly!
I hope that you found a group near you ❤
"From grief and woe my soul shall fly, and I don't care to stay here long."
What a superb and soul stirring rendition!!! Gorgeous and sacred.
see how our roots our intertwined when singing the sarced music
I agree
😢 I'm so far removed from my roots. Nobody seems to care and I don't want to go back. But obviously I do. But time only moves forward.
Yeah I think these folks are getting the message...................and they are talking to me
Instant chills at the very first note. Praise the Lord.
If I were younger and could sing, I would dearly love to take part.....
Blessed be my brothers and sisters in Christ name.. I hope once I will meet you all, love you.. this joyfullness singing and smile on faces..

Amen
Wonderful! I can’t imagine that there has ever been a better leader than that very graceful black woman. She would make me want to do my very best.
We need this right now! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This song and its performance is so beautiful. ‘Though I am not Christian I find it deeply moving.

@@dolceolarecordings I’ve just listened to the Old Amish one and there are significant similarities . There’s an interesting article by Leonard . @@lauchlanmcewan1748 thank you so much for sharing, this is very interesting!
there are many Presbyterian churches in the USA, many Irish and sottish settlers brought their faith with them.
That's where it came from, it was brought over to the states.
This is fantastic, thank you!
This music pulls at the heartstrings.
So good!
Outstanding

If the angels in heaven don't sing half as good as y'all brothers an sisters do I don't wanna go very AWESOME💙💙💙
How to simply blast off the roof without a single speaker.
What are they saying during the first verse?

i prefer the rocky horror show version
Do they HAVE to move thier hands like that when singing?
This activity was traditionally enjoyed by inexperienced singers. Hence the simplified solfege and sheet music. That is how they kept time.
Not required
It's only beautiful if the singers go out and about behaving virtuously. Otherwise it's just humans making more racket.
