What I’ve noticed and probably many others who have looked at him closely, but the Lord of Cinder’s armor is actually just a severely deformed, melted, and tattered version of the elite knight armor. It has close to the same plating designs and very similar parts comparable to the elite knight set.
That’s because the soul of cinder takes the form of the chosen undead aka the player character from DS1. In the cover art the chosen undead is shown wearing the elite knight set

The entire point of dark souls 3 was to end the cycle completely so technically in the lore it wouldn't make sense but that would be sick.
