Mr deals, have an i3 7100 and a 1050 ti with 8gb of 2133 ddr4 single stick, I'm planning to upgrade but I dont know what to upgrade first; im upgrading step by step, but the goal is a 1060 6gb, i3 8100 (costs me about the same as a 7400, including the b360) with 16gb in dual channel, what do upgrade first considering I mainly play Overwatch and I want my first upgrade to bring me the most performance increase?

I still wouldn't it only has pci e 2.0 and is missing usb ports and with an i5 8400 might not give enough power. The cpus the H310 is meant for is the pentium g5400 or i3 8100. Even if I was buying one of those I would still but a B360. It isn't much more expensive.

I've just got a $900 (on sale from $1,100) MSI Codex XE machine from Microcenter. i5-8600K, Z370, GTX 1060 6 GB, 8GB of DDR4-2400 (unfortunately, but I'll upgrade soon) and 256 GB SSD. Buying everything separately would have cost more. I'm only an occasional gamer, but it was a great deal for a machine that will last me several good years. The i5-8600K will be plenty for me.

Honestly I'm just glad I decided to pull the trigger on a 1600. SMT, 6 cores, ability to OC the RAM to it's advertised speeds (generally speaking), chipset support until 2020 (Zen 2+ when?) And most importantly...a stock cooler that can actually cool the CPU without sounding like a vacuum cleaner. Hah. Hah

Nice one Mr Deals! Avg B360 price in the Uk is £90 (up to 125 which makes no sense with the lowest Z370s around 110). Z370 are avg £140 (up to 230). The price of Coffeelake chips is frankly scary. Think I'll be eeking out my Z170/6600k for a good while yet.....My cousins son was wanting to upgrade to an 8350k but his dad has no background in PCs so was asking for advice. His son is also purely going on what someone else told him (who I quickly gleaned had no idea what he's talking about in terms of matching components/price to performance). I tried to explain but I will be pointing him here and still recommending ryzen or if he *has* to go intel the 8400/B360 option. Great vid.

Hey Tech Deals! Amazing video as always.
I noticed you didn't recommend the 8700. And despite agreeing with you for the most part, let me point something about it, as an owner of one (although I got in a deal for £220, -£80 of 8700K, if not I would've gotten the 2600X).
As you said, price differences between 8700 and 8700K without special discounts are $30-40.
But, if you buy a 8700K is because you want to overclock it, so you need a good Z370 motherboard as you said, to be able to reach 4.9-5Ghz, so another $30-40 extra from a basic Z370.
You need a $80-100+ cooler to reach that speed, also as you mentioned, which you can put another $30-40 extra from a good $50 cooler that a 8700 needs, like the Thermalright Macho rev.B (which is colder and as quiet as the Bequiet dark rock pro 3, costing less). Not to mention the need for delid it! Which would rise prices even more.
With the 8700 you simply put an alright Z370 and a good air cooler and you are good to go, saving potentially +$150. You still have 12 threads for those that work with the PC, plus you still have top notch single thread performance, and a cooler, reliable and quieter PC (not watercooling, not deliding, not overclocking stressing the CPU, less voltage, etc).
Game performance more or less equal to a i5 8600K overclocked(depending on if single thread or multi core requirements), and better than any Ryzen at the moment.
Multitask more or less like a 1600 OC.
Just giving another point of view.

What I don't like about some other reviewers is when AMD gives them all the free samples and free swag they expect to get there moneys worth in that advertisement.
So reviews are fluffed no matter how good, mediocre or bad it is because they don't
want that free stuff to stop coming .

What is shocking to me is that even a decade later, pcie 2.0 is deemed usable in the lowest spec system build for 8th gen Intel. Thank you for the breakdown. It is very helpful since manufacturer's are hell bent on making their products confusing.

Great overview of the different options out there for Intel processors. I would like to add that I think it's very helpful you toss in AMD alternatives in there since most reviwers would stick to Intel-only in such an overview. Now for the people that are planning to build a new PC, this is probably the video to watch on processor choice if you're leaning towards Intel's Coffee Lake but you aren't completely excluding AMD's Ryzen lineup.

thanks a lot and please keep up your always-good work. I've always had a problem understanding B and H motherboards from Intel. Now I'm crystal clear :))) Currently super happy with R5 1600 btw :D

    Tech Deals, Hi !
Most of the time I am agree with you. But this time, about the 8600K at 5.0Ghz for a gaming computer (not a workstation), I think that if you want almost the same gaming performance as the 8700K at 5.0Ghz for less money, its a deals. In most gaming benchmarks those 2 chips at 5.0Ghz are really close, even equal most of the time. They are both at the top of the list of most gaming benchmarks. If your have your I5-8600K overclocked at 5.0GGhz (pretty easy) you kind of have an i7-8700K 5.0Ghz gaming performance for almost 90 USD less (at this time on Amazon and Newegg). 90 USD more for almost no gain in FPS in gaming (in most games). Its 90 USD more that you can put on a better graphic card. I think the I5-8600K is easy to recommend for gamers who still wants the best FPS performance and save money or getting a better graphic card with that money. Most gamers are not streamers. If you stream and do more then just gaming with your computer, sure the I7 is a better chip. But for most gamers who just want FPS performance, is the I7-8700K 5.0 Ghz really worth it for the price and FPS difference ? I will get the I5-8600K OC at 5.0Ghz and a better graphic card anytime. Of course if you buy a 1080ti or if it fit easily in your budget then yeah, you get the I7. If I remember well, you was suggesting to buy a Ryzen before an i5-8600K. But Ryzen (even at 4.0Ghz) is not even close to the I5-8600K 5.0Ghz in pure gaming performance. In a gaming perceptive and for all those reasons, I think that chip should not be put on the side so quickly.
Nice channel. Continue the good work. Hope to hear about the subject again.

Thanksfor this. I even bought the b360 because on newegg here in canadian dollars the difference between that board and the z370 is almost $50.
all I'm doing is gaming so the the b360 will do just fine for me I think with an i5 8400 and gtx 1070.
