One of the best things about this performance is imagining the absolute hell the sound techs, stage handlers and security would have gone through when Jimmy decided to climb his way into the audience 😂. This performance is the definition of chaos in the best way! Chisel at their best!
I was security at the Melbourne leg of the Last Stand tour. Because it was a major venue, and not a pub, the crowd behaviour was significantly better than you might expect, although, on the required ‘walk throughs’ in the crowd, I was regularly subjected to the wandering hands of the ladies. 😊
The professionalism of the band is unreal.. Jimmy goes for a run and they improvise and fill.. Waiting for a cue to change back to the song without missing a beat. Bloody unreal!
G'day Suzi and Trav, this is what aussie pub rock was and is all about... great vocals and blinding musicianship. Mossie is one of the absofrigginlutely best pickers goin'...and he ain't too hard on the ol' peepers either 😉 Young Master Barnes is currently recovering from hip replacement surgery, having destroyed one of the ones he was born with from all those years of climbing and jumping off speaker stacks and stages... Get Well Soon Mate!! All the best to you and Jane and the family... 😊
Incredible duet between singer and guitar the entire song. Utter musical magic. And lets give it up to the sound guys for keeping everyone micced and untangled for that. The last song of the last night of the last tour before Cold Chisel broke up. And they went out like that.
Jimmy at his drunkest and best! The synergy between him and Ian is just breathtaking. The best version of a Troggs classic. Wish you did more Chisel. Merry Christmas from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️

Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes are Australian music royalty. The best places to see them were the sweaty suburban pubs with sticky beer covered carpets in the 80s, Barnes would do the same thing of running into the crowd and getting them to sing with him. I was at the gig in the video circa 1983 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre with a girl I fancied and we both shook Barnesy's hand as he ran through the crowd. I remember both of us getting covered in sweat as he ran off. And yes we did go home separately and wash it off if you're wondering. Not lucky that night!! My sister lives near him now in Bowral NSW and often says hello to him at the local supermarket. He is actually a lovely bloke who is still making music and has written a couple of books about his poverty upbringing and wild career in music.
This was the last song of the last performance of The Last Stand tour - the band folded (temporarily) after this tour. It will live on as testament to the RAW power and genius of Cold Chisel - an Australian Icon.
Brilliant. Never gets old listening to this perfect cover by my number 1 band. Thanks for your appreciation of these musical gods Travis and Susie. Merry Christmas 🎄
I was hoping you guys would do this one. An absolute killer cover ....just listen to Mossy picking up on Jimmy's vocals and all the screams from the audience ..the band improvising while Jimmy takes off and does his thing... Jimmy really is a WILD THING ...

Oh yes this is what it was like to see Chisel live! The later it got in the show the drunker Jimmy would get - he had demons and they made him wild ! Jimmy has just undergone hip replacement surgery, so may not sing for a short while. Shows you how old we all are from that era !
Yay great reaction and is the first time any reactor has noticed the thing that blows me away every time and that is when Jimmy comes back onstage and drags Moss to the floor Mossy doesn’t miss a beat! True master that he is keeps it going strong while toppling down! 😂❤

I was one of the many lucky people to attend one of the gigs in the Last Stand concert series, Sydney Entertainment Centre. Great to re-live it again just now.

This is Chisel, in all its Rock and Roll Chaos.. YEARS of live performance experience makes you THIS good. (We have all only seen this on old '80s VHS tapes haha)
The first time I heard this song was on the Goodies an English Comedy series each episode the characters Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graham Gardener (their real names) who were sort of representative of stereotypes Bill the 70 counter culture working man, Tim the posh upper class snob and Graham the science and technical one. They operated a odd job, temp company whose motto was 'we'll do anything anytime' would become involved solving a problem these episodes were satirical, often surreal, very slapstick and were not above taking pot shots at important issues of the time from Apartheid to pollution these shows were so entreating that as a kid I loved them even if the more serious and adult parts of the show sailed over my head. Most of the episodes had a theme song that would appear in the montage section of the episode often performed by Bill. They did several shows revolving around music and even managed to have a hit Album and wild thing was one of the songs with Tim on lead vocals which was completely at odds with his weak slightly cowardly character, they even slipped in a joke to that effect when Tim sings 'hold me tight' he then adds in a slightly strangled voice 'Not quite that tight'. It wasn't till years later I found out that wasn't part of the song.

People comment that the great Hendrix’s version is the best by far, I beg to differ!!!. As you say in the video- this version sets the bar.👏👏👏
Jimmy epitomizes a "Wild thing" in this. Hendrix was always about the guitar riffs but this is more epic in many ways.
