In todays video, Savannah and I are reacting to Cold Chisel doing a cover of Wild Thing. This was such a FUN performance! 🤘🖤 If you’re interested you can follow me daily on Instagram: instagram.com/tonia_elkins?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
The beauty of growing up in Australia was it's music and amazing talent. You could always pop into a corner pub somewhere and listen to great bands like this. Cold Chisel, The Angels, INXS, AC/DC, Baby Animals, The Divinyls, Midnight Oil just to name a couple all started in pubs and clubs. An older friend of mine recalls paying $5 to see AC/DC at an old movie theatre in their hometown south of Sydney. They also played at the high school as well. Same as Chisel, $5 to see them too back in the day at a surf club. Crazy! Loved your reaction. Thanks, Cheers!
It was like that here too, even up into the 90s & early 2000s when I was a teen and early 20s. I was always watching live bands at bars but it seems like it’s less and less of a thing these days.
This version shows Jimmy's wild side more than any other video.. Seeing them live for the first time in the mid 70's was pretty wild too. Most of their early shows were in local pubs and if you were no good the crownnwould let you know. These guys were one of tje best pub rock bands ever
These boys always bring their A Game and give it their all on stage. This is what music is all about not the crap we listen to on mainstream radio these days
It’s the same thing? It’s sooo different to the original 😂 I agree it’s the best version of the song. I’m with you momma! 😂 ps. It isn’t screaming, he’d have no voice left if he was screaming.
Yup Doc and after all that scream-sing he can still belt them out in his 60s - i think Jimmy’s got better as he’s matured, he can sing Christmas carols or still belt them out
Your daughter looks like she would like to be somewhere else eating a chocolate bar never looked like she was ever interested in this video. This is one of the best ever rock performances ever
Jimmy Barnes one of the best singers of all time+ Ian Moss one of the best electric and acoustic guitar players of all time+an accomplished singer as well.
Cold Chisel were 2 excellent rock bands in one. The recording band that was musical and all class. Then the live performance band that just let themselves go and blast the audience. They actually started off as a heavy metal band but decided music was more fun...... especially when incorporating the audience.
Lead singer of Cold Chisel is Jimmy Barnes. If yu want to hear an amazing song that includes him try....."When something is wrong with my baby" featuring John Farnham and Diesel
Australia has a lot of hidden gems re music. In this clip he was plastered (drunk) he is in his wild stage. Would love to see your reaction to his version of its only make believe (it is on the cold chisel channel) beautiful version with sax. Jimmy can sing all genres of music. There is also a video on YT where he is singing with Bon Jovi at a farmers relief concert in the early 2000's and man they went wild Jimmy kept playing and they all had to be dragged off the stage because it was a great atmosphere which i was lucky to be a part of. Let me know if you want the link.
Pure Joy....the comparison with Steve Tyler was well on point, many have said the same....there's not really a bad Cold Chisel song...Saturday night, You got nothing I want or even Cheap wine....Cold Chisel rabbit hole lol...Great vid guys...
I saw them do this as the encore at end of their series of Last Stand concerts in 1982 when they first split up. I assume this was from one of those. Fantastic. (Edit -actually the encore was probably Goodbye Astrid with Jimmy screaming Goodbye !!! 😂) They have just reformed as a 50th anniversary and released a great new single Youve Got To Move. 👍
In this video, you can see that Jimmy is 2 bottles of Vodka into the gig, hence the result of his recent hip operation! Jimmy's now been sober for a few years now.
@@ToniaElkins so am I. Sometimes find it difficult to see him so drunk and stoned on stage. He’s lucky he lived through it. I don’t think he’s ever been happier and his vocal range is still great range . And still singing in his 60s. Love his whole family, their talents are amazing.
@@ToniaElkins You can thank his wife Jane for that. Check out 'Stone Cold' with Jimmy and Joe Bonamassa. Written by his Cold Chisel bandmate Don Walker on Jimmy's request, it's something special.
That's after a couple bottles of scotch If you want 5o see a later one of him in his 50s look up Jimmy barnes and Joe bonamassa Titled Stone cold Jimmy's still going in his 60s Cheers ladies 🦘🇦🇺👍
Jimmy Barnes has one of the best rock/soul voices on the planet. He has a 4 octave vocal range and uses his false vocal cords to produce vibrato at full belt. Few singers can achieve this, and it’s a technique from the old school gospel singers of the Deep South, where Jimmy got a lot of his early inspiration from. Once he gave up the vodka and scotch and went sober, he continued to shine- perhaps even moreso in some respects, with Cold Chisel and as a solo artist.
I think this version of Wild Thing is pure pure rock heaven but I can’t watch that girl munching and crunching her way through the video. Here’s a hint: feed yourself before, feed yourself after but don’t feed yourself during!
Nice reaction to a song i love, however you could improve your setup by putting the review screen up higher, so the audience can see more more of your faces and less forheads. Best of luck.
@@mrmockatoo6786 I’ve never claimed to be professional and I’m a vlogger mostly. Which is a very different type of video. I just also enjoy hearing new music. So we react to music too.
@jarrod Upton, what is wrong with snacking out on a bit of chocolate? And tonia- to hear you both fart and burp will be brilliant 🤣🤣, can u promise ya both will do that for us😳😳😁😁🤣
She’s most definitely not ignorant about music. She’s been in choir her while life and played percussion for 4 years 👍 Maybe watch other videos of ours before making such a bold incorrect statement.
The original is a great song , but this version I be happy to not hear again , I grew up in the cold chisel era and they were hugely popular in Australia but I never knew anyone personally that actually liked them
You mustn't have got out much oif you think that. If you grew up in the era as you say you would know they were universally liked in Australia and New Zealand for that matter. Always on the radio , sold a shit tonne of singles and albums and was hard to get tickets to gigs. I think you are telling blowflies mate.

What a way to close a cold chisel show... Jimmy at his drunkest and best ❤better than the original 100%
