He's such a nice, unassuming man. I had to smile when he mentioned the scene in Henry IV in which he'd make the entire audience, including Prince Charles on one occasion, stand to acknowledge that he (as Henry) was now King, since Charles and William were there the night I saw David in The Tempest, his other favourite production. We were in the circle, and an unexpected frisson of excitement wafted up from the stalls a few minutes before the performance. He mentioned Alec McCowen and Simon Russell Beale as also having been in that production. I had contact with Alec, another lovely, unassuming man, towards the end of his life. He and I were from the same town, and he went to the same school as my father. Simon I first saw in The Winter's Tale, very early in his career, in a cast that also included a young Nathaniel Parker. Of the four Stratford productions I've seen, in fact, Simon has appeared in three.
Mr David Troughton...best Richard III I've ever seen at Stratford upon Avon. He managed to show the character's breakdown as he sat down on the side of the stage disheartened beaten by his failure on Bosworth Field. Erudite and intelligent gentleman. Thankyou
David Troughton is one of Britain´s finest stage actors. Such an interesting career, I could listen forever. Thank you so much, Fantomfilms for giving us all these insights and anecdotes.
I have to go rewatch "Enemy" now and see if I can spot him! And yes, the costumes for both of the Peladon episodes were so gorgeous, the rich purple-blue with the black furs ... beautiful stuff.
its still mad to think as much as i loved patrick troughton as an actor and he is my fave doctor, its mad that he lived a double life with a whole other family, i do feel for his other family members hurt by him.
@@mahfuzurchowdhury2765he was at some point then made himself believe he would be stepping on his dad’s legacy but I genuinely believe his father would be so proud
As a huge fan of the proper new tricks, and midsomer I needed to see David troughton the human being and not the villain, and I'm happy to say I am not disappointed 😀 I wish so much to ask him how he felt about these characters, and how much of a challenge it must have been, good and bad if you're a stage actor at heart 💞 I love this, 😀😀😀🌟👍🇦🇺.
During "The Dark Times" when there was NO Doctor Who; we had to make do with "The New Adventures" books featuring Sylvester McCoy's 7th Doctor. Apparently they (Virgin Publishing) decided to Regenerate the Doctor and the images on the covers of the books would have been based on David Troughton! Luckily; they changed their minds! 🤔
In Australia on the internet it's extremely hard to see thinks on more private I'm guessing mostly English based actors, and that's all I want to see, I love a lot of American actors, but you can literally find out everything about them and their dog, literally 😄😀🌟🌟🌟👍.

Listened to him play Tony Archer every week on The Archers Omnibus edition. So still working for the BBC
I think David is a great actor he looks like his dad even more then his brother.Feel he could even play his dad in live action.
I love your father!
Fantastic actor..love his RSC work as well as his TV work (particularly a very peculiar practice being my favourite). Thanks DT.
"Don't get typecast, you mustn't be in anything for too long"
I guess we now know why he only played Wellington for two episodes of Sharpe
He was very good despite only being in two episodes. I like the scene where he tears Simmerson a new one over losing the kings colours.
I like David Troghton
Jon Pertwee takes the credit for persuading Pat to go to conventions
It would be nice to see the boys play their fathers parts Sean is up for it
I thought Sean said he wouldn't want to do it?

He’ll always be Bob Buzzard to me. A fantastic portrayal of an egomaniac.

🤔
He looks alot like his dad similar nose and eyes
Thank you.
Although He only had 2 episodes in Sharpe's Series. The way he Thrash Sir Henry Sinmerson is the most satisfying scene I've seen. 👍
Hard to believe this is King Peladon. God, he was so beautiful in that episode! 😍

Please for the love of God please please please please please get your father lost episodes
And to think I thought nobody would be interested in a Patrick Troughton biography as his private life would be too dull and uneventful.
I think David has retired from acting.
