Hi, thanks for the video. Really like your content, been following for about a year now😎. AFAIK these trucks are limited to 140 kph when racing for safety reasons. I think it’s been that way since the horrible accident with the monster DAF in the 80s. I think there might also be an error with a picture you put trying to show where the rear dampers get their cooling, but also possible I just missed it. Keep the good stuff coming! Cheers from Israel
Hi, thanks and I'm glad you like it! Yes the Dakar speed limit is at 140km/h but the truck is designed to do slightly more. They also compete in other rallys than the Dakar. The rear damper cooling is a strange one but it seems to be as I described it here.
What a nice video, it is rare a UA-cam channel discussing about rally raid truck.... can't wait for the Hino truck edition, because they use hybrid or more advanced tech
Supergood video as alaways. Next time Super gt500. The top class GT race in Japan, they have a lot of areodynamic, they are the best race category for me. There are only Nissan, Honda and Toyota, that will be a good callenge for you and a exellent content/matirial for your cannel. Also there are gt300 where are a mix category, car whit differents tecnical regulation.
Whats the reason for using multiple springs? I see same in gr b rally cars. For example ford rs200 has twin coil springs per wheel, why not use single spring with twice the stiffness compared to using 2 springs. In theory shouldnt that give same amount of travel and energy absorbtion?
There are multiple reasons: 2 dampers mean more surface area to get rid of the heat. 2 smaller dampers behind each other disturb the flow less than one big one. Damper manufacturers have smaller dampers available but one huge one would have to be customized etc.
@@BSport320 thanks for answer, i see why they do it with twin dampers now but also im asking for springs only not dampers themselves. Why use 2x spring instead of single spring with 2x stiffness? The other guys answer also made sense with chassis load distribution but i d also like to hear from you as well
Unexpectable material, cause Kamaz-master team and MAZ-sportauto are not allowed to compete at Dakar rally marathon by clear political reasons. Sport has to be out of politics. Great respect to you!
From what ive understood, the trucks often have a supporting role (for cars and bikes) in other teams, whereas on the Kamaz team they just drive to win
There are 3 different categories of Dakar trucks: T5.1 - Production trucks that compete (but there are not many since these are not competitive) T5.2 - Prototype trucks that compete (like this Kamaz) T5.3 - Former prototype trucks that act as support vehicles and carry spare parts and tools
Great i request you this and you did it. ✌️✌️👍👍 but you didn't cover the category where it has a two category tyoes which is sub litre category with smaller engines and super liter category with bigger engines.
All good and well, but you forgot to mention a few minor details, like the part manufacturers. For example the axles are Finish(SISU) the suspension is made in The Nethetlands(Reiger), the engine is German(Liebher) as well as the cab(Mercedes), as well as the brakes(Knor) and the transmision is made in the USA(Alison), the tires are French(Michelin). So prety much the only thing in a Kamaz race truck that is Kamaz made is the badge.
Tbe axles, tyres and suspension are made to specifications. And Kamaz are partners with Liebherr, they have worked on engines for normal trucks together. So it's really only the transmission that's imported. (the Merc cab is used on regular production models as well)
@@Random-nf7qb cos for the russians its a national goal/propaganda and they pour hundreds of millions into this program, hence all European, best components. Kamaz have generally always been my favourite team at the Dakar rally, so cool what they've been able to achieve with their trucks
I fucking love this channel.
^^
It's so sad that KAMAZ truck has stopped running the Dakar now . Hope to see them back to dominants the Dakar in the near future.
Nice video. Would be cool to compare it to other trucks like the iveco which are the main competitors but much less funded and not real factory teams😀
Enjoyed this. The trucks are the most interesting vehicles in the raly tor.

These trucks have been recorded going over 220kph. They are the fastest things in long flatout sections.

great video, congrats from Portugal

Nice truck, but because of the current situation in Ukraine there is not much love or empathy left towards anything Russian in a lot of countries.

Can you make a video of the Riwald Truck?
