Watched Crusader Rabbit as a little kid and loved it. My favorite show. Should have realized a decade later that it was produced by Jay Ward, the producer of Rocky and Bullwinkle. It was the first ever "made for TV" cartoon show. This is just amazing stuff.
Crusader Rabbit should be an inspiration to anyone who wants to try animation. It's technically pretty easy and with good ideas, writing and drawing, you can tell a complex and interesting story. A great place to learn about economy of means and still make something great. All animation schools should have their students study this.
I think the beautiful thing about this show is that the animation is simple and this series doesn't undermine the intelligence of the audience like most cartoons today...x
Third chapter of "Crusader Vs. the State Of Texas". Special mention should be made of the cast of voices: Lucille Bliss {Crusader}, Vern Louden {Rags & "Vernon the Vulture"}, and Roy Whaley {"The Narrator"}. They, along with Russ Coughlan, did all the voices in all 195 episodes of the original series {"The Ten Crusades"}.
For the full story of Jay Ward's involvement with the original "CRUSADER" series, 'Golum', I suggest you read Keith Scott's brilliant book on Ward, "The Moose That Roared"...

Are you sure Coughlan didn't also play Vernon?
This was made back when kids material wasn't dumbed down so their brains wouldn't be taxed.

Don't they have the cream puffs they brought from episode 2?
