Edward Everett Horton's narration was and is the highlight and glue that made this show so worthwhile and funny! He was amazing and had thee funniest and most wonderful voice ever!! They don't make 'em like him anymore! R.I.P, Mr. Horton!
Edward Everett Horton (March 18, 1886 - September 29, 1970) priceless voice is what made this fun cartoon series stand out! I love hearing him speak! I'm watching one of the films that feature him "Here Comes Mr Jordan." What an amazingly talented man he was!
EEH was the greatest. And Jay Ward wrote the finest cartoons of all time. He also created Fractured Flickers. I've got all the dvds and it is priceless, even after all these years.
Thanks for posting this. My favorite line in Leaping Beauty: "We all know that Kings and Prime Ministers are not ordinary people, otherwise how would they get to be Kings and Prime Ministers"
Okay...upon doing a bit more research and closing my eyes so as not to be distracted by images...I DOTH BELIEVE that I have found the voice of the prince to be that of Daws Butler...I realized it when I heard a bit of the prince in Cap'n Crunch, and vice versa. What a riot that a person can be so talented with one set of vocal cords!
So all i can figure is that i must’ve been in a really great time of my kid life when i used to watch Fractured Fairytales bc just simply *hearing* the intro music gives me those “Saturday AM little kid glued to the tv - all is swell & right with the world warm fuzzies!” lol i’m realizing now that there is _NO WAY_ that i understood most of the jokes/sarcasm but still definitely *ADORED* this cartoon! Also pretty happy that i can’t recall any of the scenarios bc it’s like having a brand new show yet somehow i already knew that i *LOVED* it! Soo witty! Edward Everett Horton was imo absolutely brilliant! 🤣 💞
Leaping Beauty voiced by June Foray (born June Lucille Forer) September 18, 1917 - July 26, 2017). She should be a very familiar voice cartoon addicts of that golden era of 'toons. She voiced, Rocky, Natasha and many, many, many other Jay Ward characters.
56 years young and still a kid, I enjoy all of these light humor cartoons, because they seem too make more sense than our own new age selfloveing society.
@@olliefoxx7165 it was an episode that Fred and Ethel was not in. Instead it had Edward Everett Horton playing the butcher who fell in love with Lucy,. Because mrs. Lewis played by Bea benaderet had the hots for him. Buddy thought it was Lucy who had the hots fan so there was a lot of chaos for Lucy to turn him off. Great episode
Arsenic and old lace is one of my favourite movies and I watch it frequently on DVD. Horton was in so many hilarious movies and always played the same character type.....which you never get tired of. I liked him in some of the Fred Astaire movies too.
Edward Everett Horton was born in 1886, imagine living long enough to do a cartoon in 1961, amazing.. He was even in Silent films in 1922. He was an old gay nellie, never married, and seemed to keep that Brooklyn accent. Listen closely resembles the accent of Moe Howard / George Burns and other New York city actors. He lived to be 83. Remember him in F-Troop too.
I love the prince's voice...reminds me of Louis Edmonds playing Roger Cpllins from "Dark Shadows," but I cannot find that it is his voice. Anybody know who played the prince's voice? I recognize a VERY young June Foray (Granny in Sylvester and Tweety, Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Natasha from Bullwinkle, Witch Hazel in Bugs Bunny, and many others of which I am sure I am unaware). TOTAL CLASSIC TV going on here! I miss being young, but this helps a LOT! :-)
Heh, the witch in this kind of reminds me of in Rankin-Bass's "Tales of the Wizard of Oz," in that she's a comical witch that's completely colored green and voiced by a man. (But in the case of "Oz," Larry Mann voiced the Wicked Witch doing an imitation of Jonathan Winters as Maude Frickert, while here Bill Scott uses that same "old lady" voice he'd use when voicing witches and fairy godmothers in Fractured Fairy Tales where June Foray voices a protagonist (like this one), or Grandma Gertie in the "Tom Slick" segments.)
+Helena Hanbasket Shhhhh, didn't even notice. Grew up with a 9 volt transistor radio so i could only listen to stuff with one ear anyway. I also usually don't notice stuff that's in black and white. Man, I'm old.
This was Frank Comstock's original theme, as heard during "ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS". Fred Steiner wrote a new one for "THE BULLWINKLE SHOW" in 1961. Because of a dispute involving legal rights, Steiner's version is used exclusively on all home movie releases and some syndicated versions of the series.
Reminds me of the lay of Lorelay: Once there was a girl called Lore She was said to be a very good lay, In fact she was a bore Combing her hair all the day.
What a great time to be a kid...when "gay" meant "happy", "cheerful", "elated", "merry", "fun-loving", and other wholesome meanings, instead of its current distortion.
I missed the old times too and I wasn't even born then.. but I love Abba and love old tv shows and is the only one in my school using the term "fetch" I so agree with you!
It is wonderful and educational as well. But don't know whether the modern education will allow this cartoon be shown to the children at all, as they are being taught that narcissism is a great thing. But in this cartoon, we see that narcissism is boring to the others, and in real life, excessive narcissism is indeed boring!

Google and watch "One Got Fat"
TY @@ellenmuseumi’m going to do that! 😘
Yeah, Horton had basically a gentlemanly/grandfatherly voice that just exuded class but still had a sense of hunor
Amen about Mr.Horton. Priceless.

yup Rocky & Bullwinkle, the best over-the-kids-heads, sarcastic cartoons ever! I remember em from like age 5-6 thank God for youtube!
This was one of my most favorite cartoons when I was a kid! "The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show"
That's the prettiest woodwind arrangement I think I've ever heard. Short melody, but gorgeous.
Love that little opening jingle. Such memories.
EEH was the greatest. And Jay Ward wrote the finest cartoons of all time. He also created Fractured Flickers. I've got all the dvds and it is priceless, even after all these years.
Love these too. The narrator, Edward Everett Horton was one of my favorite character actors.
I am 70 years old and these Tales still make me laugh out loud....
Me too.
Man, I was little when I use to watch this, sitting next to my cousin, while drinking strawberry Quick... Early 70's. Best of times.
The narrator's voice is terrific
Oh man, this is great. I loved this show as a kid.
Thanks for posting this. My favorite line in Leaping Beauty: "We all know that Kings and Prime Ministers are not ordinary people, otherwise how would they get to be Kings and Prime Ministers"
Still enjoy these tales after so many years. Thanks. Joe S
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! What fun memories! Great channel. Just
Found
This. Blessings 🤗🕊🙏
"Don't tell me what a boar is. To the forest with her!"
I don't know why, but that's my favorite bit of this. :D

I loved the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. Thanks for uploading.
i love Edward Everett Horton! I watch movies that he's in all the time. Absolutely hilarious!
Why are you crying?
Cause you're standing on my foot!
Haha and the voice acting is so perfect!
Thank you! I just showed this to the grand kids... Yes, I'm THAT old! Brilliant stuff...

It took me about 35 years to notice the witch pulls her broom out of her hat-which is HILARIOUS!
I love how the prince is wearing high heels!! LOL :-D
probably French
I still have a bunch of these on VHS.
The narrator is Edward Everett Horton! I loved him in the Astaire-Rogers films. :)
BlankCanvas88 : he was my grandmothers cousin. A very distinctive voice and good character actor.
BlankCanvas88 Also great in Pocketful of Miracles.
Witch has a voodoo doll on the ground by her foot, love this
Leslie Strika never noticed until I read the comment
"...sprinkling flowers and sunshine like crazy.." cute
I've been looking for this show for years! Thanks UA-cam❤
Remember these well. Edward Everett Horton was a funny guy. Was good in Arsenic and Old Lace.
He was also funny. I Love Lucy. Remember?
@@charlesswanson2207 I remember "I Love Lucy" but don't remember him in the show. His voice is very good.

Classic. I have a Leaping Beauty Bobble Head:)Thank you.
I still think that the Witch is the funniest, best part.. gotta love those "evil plotting" story-book villains..
I used to love these! They were my fav part of the rocky and bull winkle video tapes!
HAHAHA THIS IS AWESOME! I love fairytales especially when they get redone. Thanks for uploading :D
Weren't/aren't these fabulous?!!? I so appreciate your posting!

I used to LOVE Fractured Fairy Tales when I was growing up... thanks so much for posting this!!
I still love these old fractured fairy tales!

Again, my all time favorite clasics!!!!
June Foray and Edward Everett Norton. The best cartoon voice thespians ever! This brings me waaaaay back! 😊
That's 'Horton'.
Let's not forget the others who worked on this short: Bill Scott and Daws Butler!
She was one wired babe!! To what, who knows, bit these were some of the best toons Ever!!
these writers were the best
their dry humor, the stereotyping of cultural characters, yet the tales are so reflective of today.

I have to confess: just as Gary Owens thought Paul Frees played George of the Jungle, so too did I think the witch here was played by Frees.
Haha. I used to love these as a kid.
This was originally presented on "ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS" in early 1960 (and initially telecast in black and white).
The good old days of saturday morning cartoons replaced by useless saturday morning news shows that no one watches
These were the best!
True wit and charm. Won't find it in cartoons now.
still whistle that little tune now and then..thus the visit. I wanted to see if I still had it right!
Edward Everett Horton was in the movie "Top Hat"
Loved these as a kid
If she doesn't sound like the dizzy teens today...
It's not just teens. There's people of every age group that are like that.
You know...this is a great moral tale!
Nice prestentation. Enjoyed it very much.
Funny! I used to love these cartoons as kids. Hilarious.
Why was the witch barefoot?? Were times tough?
Plus hairless n wizard looking ,
Holy cow, I totally remember this!!!
hahaha the witch got voodoo dolls on sale!!!LOL🌟🌕
@pcred566 not saying ive ever used "gay" to mean happy, just sayin that we really cant anymore.
So many childhood memories :')
I am currently 71 years old(younger) ha the memories have lasted a lifetime..
Lol Bobby O
June Foray as Leaping Beauty-sounds a little like Rocky the Squirrel.I love FFT's!
She also did the witch
"then one day while she was sprinkling sunshine like crazy" lol
(sorry for the wrong spelling)
the clip does not feed into the next clip. It stalls right at the end of the show and does not go to the end of the clip. needs repair
It always made me laugh when she'd give the book an evil stare when it tried to close up on her.
really...same!
This segment was originally on “Rocky and His Friends” from 1960 or 1961 (ABC).
Gay means happy
XD
One of my top 5 favorite FFTs.
EDWARD EVERETT HORTON, 'cartoons'. His name was prominently featured during the opening title sequence...
Not in stereo. Left speaker only.
Still WONDERFUL!

+D.E.B. B I'm hearing impaired. 50% hearing loss in each ear.
I love the sound of the broom as the witch flys off.
"Oh, rats"
The king sounded like Charles Laughton
Wow, this has the original intro music, unlike the DVD released versions.

Bring this show back
She's a prototype for Samantha Brick (Daily Mail writer who made out people hated her because she was so beautiful)!
Almost prophetic of modern times.
Reminds me of the lay of Lorelay:
Once there was a girl called Lore
She was said to be a very good lay,
In fact she was a bore
Combing her hair all the day.
STILL funny after all these years. You kids have no clue how good it was to grow up in the 60's & 70's.
i remember this i loooveee it soo witty!
i love it.... it'f funny yet meaningful........
Oh I love these!
I miss these times. just fun cartoon.
She said gay because gay ment happy back then
Oh plze that word ran like wild 🔥 in these g rated cartoons it was even in Disney Pinocchio
It meant happy.
Now it means queer
Times changed
When was the last time Rocky and Bullwinkle was on Boomerang?
What a great time to be a kid...when "gay" meant "happy", "cheerful", "elated", "merry", "fun-loving", and other wholesome meanings, instead of its current distortion.
