This Trail was Destroyed by the Fire. Now it's BACK!

  • Northern California has been impacted by wildfires year after year. This year has been no different with the Dixie Fire and the Caldor Fire. A few weeks ago the Bridge Fire started in Auburn and destroyed a local trail called Culvert. Thanks to the work of the California State Parks and Recreation and Fatrac (a local trail organization) the train is back up and running in record time.
    With this video I simply wanted to get eyes on the damage for the first time and show how the trail looks after the fire. If you'd like to get involved in helping rebuild after events like this be sure to look up your local trail organization for ways to help.
    Here are a few trail orgs in my area:

    Culvert always had some drainage issues on the top half, it looks like they bulldozed one of those parts. Great time to finally get culvert's drainage issues solved this winter.

      Yea I spoke with Ryan and he's hoping to do some major work to the train this winter. So hoping those plans come together. Told him I'd be there to help if needed.

    Rode it this morning. Crashed about 50 yards from Old Foresthill Rd. There are some really nasty spots right where you least expect them.
    Lots of rocks have rolled down on the trail and continue to do so. Definitely stay alert.

    Drove down from Redding last week to ride Auburn for my first time ever. That place is so much fun. Culvert trail reminds me of how the Swasey area is up here in Redding. Eerie looking forest that was burned. If you ever come up here hit me up and I’ll recommend you some good routes.

    Awesome video, I have an idea. Since you are getting famous around here. You should start doing little fund raising functions at the local breweries from Tahoe down to Auburn. Raising money for FATRAC to rebuild the trails that the two big fires (Caldor and Dixie) destroyed . You could call it "Fund raising Fire Trail, from Tahoe to Auburn " I was just thinking a way to help out with all the trails that have affected by the fires. Anyway... keep the videos going... they are Awesome. See ya. Take care!

    • @CaliradoKid
      @CaliradoKid  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Patrick! Honestly I like the idea of doing fundraising live streams at breweries but my influence is still VERY small. I don't think if I put the word out many people would show up. In general I make sure to promote MTB Norcal fundraising events and I also try to highlight any updated from trail orgs on my instagram. The silent auction MTB Norcal put together last week generated over $14,000 for the local orgs. So cool!
