Performed nicely signal wise on all modes and at all the key points on the test, audio sounded best on AM, but on FM & CPT it was too tinny and a bit like talking through a toilet roll tube pity it can't be adjusted.
I've found the opposite that very few modern sets are much good. I reviewed every model that was available in the UK right up to January 2024. I discovered the more you paid, the worse the sets got in performance....but you gained daft menus full of tat. Richard, G0OJF, UK
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 I find a lot of them have quiet audio on FM due the deviation specs for current radios being lower than it was for 27/81. The only modern sets I have are a Thunderpole TX (bought after seeing your review :) ) and a president Barry AM/FM. They work very well.
A new radio that under performs straight out of the box, because that's just what everyone wants when they buy a brand new CB. I'm not impressed in the slightest with this Midland junk bucket, the audio is a load of bleep on FM. I think I'm just about done now with modern rigs, seeing this just puts me off for life ... Thanks again though for the review. You spent your money so that we don't have to waste ours.
We saw the transmitted audio on the test gear....FM was too low, AM was too high, power was 25% low....receive was excellent. On the Air test neatly proves the instrument tests. I sold a Realistic TRC1005 to be able to buy this :( Richard

Underwhelming radio. Surely a different contract manufacturer that the recent Midlands. Actually looked a little cheap, though I see they go for ~£90.
hi richard I always enjoy your air test also best wishes to you and mr chippy from paul chapman at east sheen 73's
Thank you Paul,

They had the option to make a great radio, it looks like they made the decision not to. I doubt they will sell many after people see this video.
Nope, never going to buy one of those sets, I think I’ll stick to my 27/81 radios 😅
Great revew, I don't think I will be buying one. A lot of modern sets are very good, but this one isn't unfortunately.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 If you're still thinking of buying the other Midland 28, I'd seriously reconsider that thought.
Already bought it...I'll do it in a few days.

Disappointed with this one nice looking set but audio is absolutely crap 🤥
Same kind of tinny, horrible audio as the Alba CBH2 / Harvard 40 Ch handheld sets from the 1980s. I also dislike anything 'menu based'
