I remember making this when I was in 8th grade...around 1965...we had no microwaves back then and we thought this recipe was a joke...after slaving over the stovetop we ended up with Beautiful Fudge! Thank you for posting this recipe, and reminding me of a good time, back in the day

Home Ec. Ahhhh the days. Bring it back. All the girls know how to do is eat hot cheetos and maruchan
Fuck.. how were the 70's?!! 😍
I like Potatoes iPhone? What’s an iPhone. No mobile phones. Computers were the size of your living room. The milkman still delivered whole milk, cream and maybe butter to your front door every day. The mailman walked his whole route carrying mail in a big leather bag. Girls were required to wear dresses to school and the female teachers too. Male teachers, what few there were, wore sports coats and ties. Homework?!! Are you nuts? Not until 7th grade. Kids were expected to go home, change out of school clothes into play clothes and go outside to play. TV was for parents to watch the news, Dad to watch sports, Saturday cartoons. Everybody on tv smoked. Trash was burned in the backyard in a steel drum. The ash man came when the barrel was full and emptied it. Life was very different then than now. Slower paced. More secure and more predictable. More peaceful. WWll was over. Vietnam Nam had not yet begun. It was a decent time for me growing up, but definitely a different world then.
now combine it with the beef fudge and call it cheeseburger fudge XD
Oh gawd 😂
bahahaha - makes as much sense as velveeta fudge. :)

Ooo...

You can't say no to a double-dog dare! D:

I never realized fudge is 95% sugar omg
Lethal to a diabetic like me. The cheese product would improve the glycemic index compared to regular fudge. I'd still like to taste it though.
Princedorkface No wonder I love it🤣
Princedorkface it shouldn’t be. Real country fudge is cooked on a stove top and usually is made with granulated sugar and is usually a little less sweet.
I was shooked too
I think regular fudge doesn’t use that sugar but a regular fudge is usually just chocolate and butter and whatever you like to add.
Hmmmm... 🤔 it makes me wonder how many times I've had Velveeta fudge at church bake sales or in Christmas candy trays and didn't know it!!! 😄😄😄
So many recipes she makes I realize I have only had them from being in church in the Midwest and the South. I’m too young to know what some of these recipes are. 😂🤭

Place all ingredients except vanilla and nuts in microwave safe bowl heat 3 min or until melted stir after each minute. Add vanilla and nuts and stir well. Pour into prepared pan and chill until set about 2 hours. Remove from pan using the foil cut into squares and enjoy.

Didn't know Velveeta could be used for fudge. I always used buttermilk. Cheese is a dairy product and some recipes I swap it out if I just don't the have milk or condensed cream. Also, That Belch at the end was a 7.86 on the belch scale. keep it up, lol.
Heard about this fudge ages ago. My mother made great homemade fudge and was always skeptical about how the cheese would change the chocolate fudge flavor. I'm going to try this though. I'm nearly sure in her old recipe box would be a recipe for this that's decades old. ...Thanks for doing this video and reminding me of the recipe. it was an odd one from the era as many recipes were, especially from the 40's through 70's. ...BTW...you do a great job in hosting your show. Velveeta cheese is expensive! Over $8.00 for the large box here in southern Utah.

This is how me grandma made it! Every other type is fudge can't hold a candle to this. Thank you grandma, may you rest in peace. 💞👼
Any of these old foods I wonder what they tasted like originally. Like Velveeta..does it taste the same as it did in 1918? I doubt it.
#KevinEaton Very doubtful that modern Velveeta tastes like original 1918 fare. Mild from dairy farms isn't even the same as it was then...much added, including chalk in modern milk.
@@curtischildress9580 chalk????
@@rosep5672 Chalk is added for a brighter whiter color in modern milk released for sale today. The natural color of milk is a little bit bluish and kind of a weak pale color. Milk from cows doesn't look naturally white and thick.
@@curtischildress9580 that's so crazy. I don't think that's the case here in Europe. Were very strict with food laws. I've tasted real fresh milk too and it was lovely and creamy, not weak at all! It often depends on the season and type of cow and how they live...
So sad you guys have to drink chalk if it's true!
@@rosep5672 I couldn't find any evidence of milk containing chalk anywhere on the internet. I did find a LOT of articles about chalk containing milk proteins, though, and I'm wondering if maybe that's where the confusion came from?
A tip for your leftover: Velveeta was my Mom's secret for the BEST baked mac and cheese ever.
I see you
Yes...as is Kraft Cheese Whiz in a jar.
I mix it with vegetable puree and that's the sauce for my mac n cheese. I have a very finicky partner and he is desperate to get more veggies in his diet without having to taste them, lol. The velveeta is so smooth it masks any unpleasant texture or flavor and we can add real shredded cheese for more flavor.
I like my fudge in quadrilaterals.
What a rebel. 🔳😉
Why don't you just put it in a bowl 🙃 they are cheap.
I like my fudge in cubes, cuboids, or cubic prisms...much more substance to 'em that way. :)

"Will it taste like cheese?!"
Lol velveeta doesn't even taste like cheese!
I hope you know there is all kinds of cheeses that taste differently from each other and that have their own flavor so yes you can say Velveeta tastes just like the cheese it's supposed to

Bru - uh no it’s because of the sudden southern accent 😂😂 Paula seen had a thing with butter?
Lemme tell ya, as maligned as Velveeta is, it's a miracle food product. I wouldn't use it as like, cheese, but in a cheese sauce, dip, or soup, it stabilizes the real cheese and keeps it from going grainy. It adds that smooth, velveteen mouthfeel, and I am never ashamed to use it in the privacy of my own kitchen.
You're absolutely correct. I'm sure most commercial soups like Broccoli and Cheese, etc, and most cheese based dips and sauces are made from a Velveeta like product. Nachos and cheese are literally chips and melted Velveeta.
By itself it's not very useful, but it is a great ingredient for other things.
My partner is of an ethnic background that often prides itself on it's macaroni and cheese; making a roux, adding the dairy and various cheeses, etc. for the sauce. She's very discerning about that particular side dish.
I grew up on Velveeta mac and cheese. A sauce of sauteed onions, milk, a bit of pepper and Velveeta mixed through pasta. (Breadcrumbs on top and baked a bit, to fancy it up sometimes). There were seldom leftovers. :)
I recently made that for her and her eyes lit up at the first bite. She literally squealed with delight after adding a bit of hot sauce.
I haven't, yet, had the heart to tell her that it's basically Velveeta over macaroni. LOL.
@@tomadkins2866 That's awesome! Love it.

N O N E

I like my men how I like my fudge
Dark. Sweet. Nuts. Easy to cut down to size.
One minor point of contention: Fudge is supposed to be smooth and creamy, not crumbly and crystalline. If it's crumbly and crystalline the maker didn't heat/cool the fudge well to control sugar crystallization. Good stove-top fudge needs to be beaten til you feel like your arm is going to fall off, and then a bit longer.
Now I get this isn't good stove-top fudge.. and it might be perfectly adequate as a last minute novelty.. but I do believe I'll stick with my tried and true recipe :)
To be fair she did say she didnt get her chocolate mixture hot enough before she mixed it into the powdered sugar. Maybe if she had the texture would have been better?
The velveeta fudge I've had has always been really smooth and creamy. Either her recipe was off or because she didnt heat it properly the texture and look was way way off from most velveeta fudge.
it can be both
I really don’t think she was by any means trying to make a delicacy. This is just play
If its grainy and crumbly isn't it tablet?

There's a lot of stuff that's self stable, but after opening needs to be refrigerated- milk, juices, condiments, stuff like that.
@IQzminus when i was around 12 or so, i went through a phase where i was drinking loads of milk every day. when we visited hk and stayed at my aunt's place, she didn't usually buy milk, so she bought me cartons of uht milk. the taste is really weird, but i quickly got used to it. probably wouldn't drink it now unless i had to, though.
I was about to say the same thing, Viktor.
So much stuff sold in the US is labeled REFRIGERATE AFTER OPENING. In Mexico, the same products say "keep in a cool, dry place." In contrast, I think the litigious environment in the US creates these ominous and often bogus commands about refrigeration.
@@ReiKoko it is the grossest kind of milk. I absolutely hate UHT milk. The even cheaper vegetable oil fake milks that are packaged and displayed side by side UHT milk products are even more vile.
@@microbios8586 thats interesting! i have to wonder if it also might be related to different climates all over the us. i mean cool whip is in a lot of southern recipes because it wont melt like whipped cream would. so perhaps what might be "cool, dry" in one place isnt enough for another. fridges could be more consistent and safe in that scenario.
