White rice is classified as a whole grain? Everywhere I checked it's considered a refined grain. Not saying you're wrong, but am I wrong lol? Btw, you're super pretty. Love your smile :)
Ah, the white rice debate! It is technically a refined grain, but not processed as much as products made from flour. Quite honestly, rice in my view is not the devil people make it out to be. Millions of people around the world have been living on rice for thousands of years. It’s how the rest of the meal is concocted that will really impact metabolic health
I’m so glad you like the content! Barley is an awesome whole grain - you can cook it like rice or throw it into soups or even make a barley salad! No shortage of options
Hi, first let me say that I am enjoying your videos, I’ve watch at least 5 of them so far. But that being said, one of the things I have not heard you address is all the glyphosate that’s in grains and other foods like vegetables and fruits. Here in the US spraying crops with glyphosate (Round up) is the norm. I have come to realize that most doctors do not address this but I was hoping you would. After doing a great deal of research I now only buy either organic products or at least those that have the Non GMO seal on them. Some crops are sprayed so heavily with Round up that after they are sprayed the farmer can not harvest anything in that field for several days because it is too toxic. I am new to the Mediterranean diet and happy I found your channel but I’m very concerned about the toxins in my food as well as the nutrients. Thanks for listening! Corinn
Hi Corinn, I am so glad you're liking the content! You bring up a good point. While I cannot speak for any other doctors, here is my personal take on the topic: If someone feels more comfortable buying organic and can afford it ok, then definitely it is a wise choice. Chemicals sprayed on our crops is a huge concern and I agree with you that this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Where I focus my teaching is getting people to eat more healthy foods like veggies and fruits overall. Most folks are absolutely not eating enough of these essential foods, and I would so much rather someone buy non-organic if that's all they can afford than to not buy the produce at all. That is why I also encourage people to consider canned or frozen produce to meet their needs. I hope that answers your question!
Is it true that grains and gluten can cause acne? I've been struggling with acne for the longest time and I'm trying to figure out if what if it's caused by food but I really hope not
It could be caused by food, but it’s more likely caused by other foods or other things. Some people have food sensitivities, but you need to try getting rid of things for a week at a time. Check to see if your health changes.
@@KO-lw4lo I love whole grains I love whole wheat in fact I noticed when I do eat whole wheat I have healthy bowel movements sorry for the TMI but that's why I don't want to think that weed is giving me acne because wouldn't it be giving me gut issues also? If you're eating a food and it's causing acne it should be causing gut issues too I would think
@@KO-lw4lo that's why I don't know if I can assume that my acne is being caused by grains and wheat because I have no digestive issues when I eat those foods, same with dairy, dairy gets blamed for acne a lot but I don't have any gut issues when I eat dairy so I don't know if I can blame my acne on dairy either And I haven't found any information on if it doesn't matter whether or not you have gut issues when it comes to food causing acne
@@daysoftheboo I would try to go without for a week if it is a big concern. Otherwise, I would look at my skin care and the other unhealthy foods. I am rooting for you. 😁
Good question - for those with digestive issues or other health ailments that require a change in diet, the health condition needs to be considered first. With an approach like the Mediterranean diet, all food groups are included. This makes it easy to leave out any foods that don’t serve you! If grains are a no-go, just leave them out and instead you could up the other carbohydrate sources like veggies.
I cook my farro in beef broth and a bit of butter. Eat it hot, topped by chopped raw onions and oven roasted cherry tomatoes. As a main entree.
Sounds great!
I definitely joined the quinoa lovers club years ago. I freeze it in individual portions and pull it out when needed. It’s super versatile.
Awesome!
Watch up for oxalates, they in many grains, very bad for your health.
Yes, a session on different wheats ! Am celiac. Cannot consume durum wheat (projectile diarrhea) but semolina is fine.
Great idea ! I will organize this material :)

😊😊 thank you!
You're welcome 😊
I’m brand new to the Med diet and I’m enjoying your videos. Where would you put barley into the diet or is not a good option?

Where would i find the whole wheat berries in the store?
Great question. This is one that likely would only be in a health food store, or online

What about people with IBS, they can’t have most grains
