Cleaning the coffee filter (03:57)

This is a video on all the cleaning and maintenance tasks you need to do to keep your delonghi magnifica evo coffee maker running smoothly. Keeping your magnifica evo operating optimally requires you to clean the milk bottle, emptying the pulp bin properly, regular descaling, and cleaning the coffee filter.
I hope this video will also help anyone who is still contemplating on getting the Magnifica Evo. This should give an idea of how easy or taxing a cleaning task would be, which in turn could be factored in the decision making process.
Personally, I think it’s very easy to maintain. There’s several things to do to keep it clean, but each one of them don’t take too much time and effort. Cleaning the milk bottle of the delonghi coffee maker takes like a minute. Descaling the magnifica evo machine is probably the most taxing one, but that’s normal with all coffee machines I think. I also think cleaning the coffee filter is a cool process with all the snapping off and snapping on. - Навчання та стиль
Delonghi should attach this video on their official website. Great job bro
Thanks! Appreciate the love.
This is THE most helpful video I've seen on cleaning my new machine. The user guide was terrible - I need diagrams WITH words. I descaled successfully but could not figure out for the life of me why I couldn't get the filter/infuser out of the machine. Duh ... the machine needs to be powered off. I was getting very upset with myself. Other videos I saw weren't helpful at all and then I saw yours. So short, clear, and to the point. Thank you again!
Appreciate the compliment! Happy it helped!
Complicated descaling method delonghi also unhelpful operating manual
Great straight forward explanation on maintaning and descaling the coffee machine, well done
Thanks so much. Good to know it’s helped you out!
Thank you so much for all your videos regarding this coffee machine. I have bought it and absolutely love it. I return to your videos over and over to help guide me. Please keep creating these videos to help us all.
Thanks so much for the love! I’m really happy that my videos have been a huge help. Will definitely add more videos in the future.
Quick, simple, no-nonsense explanation. Lov'it
Thanks a lot!

Just a tip for anyone else wanting to clean the filter, you must turn off the machine via the power button so the filter is realigned diagonally. If it's vertical, it means you probably switched it off at the wall first and you will be unable to take out of the filter.
To fix that, just connect all the pieces back into the machine (including water tank) and turn on/off the machine again so it realigns the filter for removal.
Thanks for this tip! So helpful!
Thank you!
100% it’s like a printer lol, it needs to put itself away when it’s done for the day
Unfortunately, my infuser is upright and when turned on... it doesnt let me do anything. General Alarm AND wont turn off with power button. Help?
Much better even the official videos. Wonderful explanation. thanks!
Thanks for the love, man
Excellent job on explaining all the details about keeping the coffee machine in top form.
Many thanks sir ! 💪🏼✅🎩
Thanks for the appreciation, mate! Very encouraging
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
Yes it does! Thanks, mate.
Thank you. I always refer to your video on descaling when I do it. It has really helped. I use a citric acid solution rather than the descaling solution.
You’re welcome! Glad my video helped. And thanks for the tip on citric acid solution!
Thank you for this video. It solved my milk frothing problem!
You’re welcome!
Thanks! This is better than the offical instructions!
Good to know the video helps!
Thank you for explaining about detaching the part that is easily missed! Didn't know you can detach that bit!! Solved my problem of the milk not frothing. I stuck a cocktail stick in the connector valve!
Happy to know the video helped Nikki. And thanks for the tip of sticking a cocktail stick in the connector valve!
Hello same with us. Suddenly milk was terrible and we did not know why. We have our first machine, so we are amateurs :) Best instructional video I have seen about our machine, so thank you a lot :).
Thanks a lot of the appreciation, Pavol! Glad to know the video helped.
This series is extremely helpful. Thank you! I’ve referred to your videos so many times.
Thank you so much, Rick! I really appreciate you for doing that!
მადლობა, ძალიან დამეხმარეთ❤❤❤
happy to help!
I'm in the market for one of these machines next year, so thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
My pleasure, mate! Hope you’ll have a good experience with yours.
Thank you for making this video!! My milk had stopped foaming and it was because of the ‘hidden’ inside part. I love my coffee machine again 👍☕️
You’re very much welcome! Glad the video helped!
Thanks for excellent video. As engineering background, To prevent frequent descaling cycle process & save ur time and money, just re-set the hardness level of the machine from No.4 (near salinity water as default by vendor) to level No. 1 (for mineral water) or to No. 2 ( for tap water).👍
Oh! Thanks for the tip, mate! This is very helpful!
Got this machine last week.. IT IS MY BABY!!!!!!❤❤❤❤ lol, I need to keep it happy, thanks for the tips!!!
You’re welcome!
Вот спасибо тебе, добрый человек! Я в возрасте, но сразу все понятно! Здоровья тебе! Пойду почищу свою подружку!

I just brought my new machine today and this video is absolutely so helpful. Thank you so much 😊😊
So happy that it has helped! Good luck with your machine!
Gabe, mate, youre a legend. Never neven knew you could pull the kqchine apart to that degree. Followed your advice and gave it a peroper clean. Coffee tastes like it did when it was new! Go figure! 😅😂
Thanks for the appreciation, Gregory! I’m glad that you’ve got great tasting coffee once again.
We have this model about 3 weeks. We Love it ❤️

Thank you for the video. Much easier to understand than the Quick Guide.
You’re welcome, Bukusuma!

You’re welcome!
Gabe, Thanks for the great vids, we have one and had no idea about settings, Most videos about this model were ### especially the actual Delonghi vids, maybe they should hire you... we set up our machine in no time thanks to your help..
Really encouraging words, Chris. Thanks, man! Happy to have helped! Hope you enjoy the machine as much as we do..
and many thanks for those greate video
You’re welcome!
very good editing Gabe
Thanks, Tom!
Thank you so much! i was missing that one step with the frother with the part you removed pressing the button. This was causing my frother to not function properly and i had to order a spare one which ended up with the same issue. I watched your video last night and after that the cappuccino i made was so foamy.
Awesome to hear that it helped you out, mate!
Chur bro
Lot easier with your instructions
My pleasure!
I have trouble in pulling the tubes off due to arthritis. I will try this. Thankyou
Sorry to hear that. When you say ‘tube’, do you mean the milk bottle?
Yes sorry i mean the milk bottle
Wir haben den Kaffeeautomaten . Die Gebrauchsanweisung im Serviceheft für die Entkalkung des Gerätes ist ein glattes ungenügend . Danke für ihr Video .
Happy to know the video helped!
Gracias por el vídeo,me ha servido de mucha ayuda. Saludos desde gran canaria
You’re welcome, Jose! Happy to know that the video has been a big help.
Amazing video ! Thanks mate 🎉
Thanks, Claudiu!
Thank you so much for your video! Now, I can make a coffee. The DeLonghi explanations are USELESS! Yours are AMAZING!!!
Thanks for the appreciation, Betina! I’m glad this video has helped you out
thank you, you helped me with that milk container
No worries, Andrada!
Genius!!! Thank you for finding this other frother part, it helped with foam!!
My pleasure!
Great video thank you 😊. I'm going to be leaving mine for a few months - how do I get the unused coffee beans out please?
First just take them out by hand and then if there’s some that you can’t take, use a handheld vaccum
Thanks for the explanation!
You’re welcome, Rick!
Just wanted to thank you. I have watched all your videos. Could not have managed without you. Love from Australia ❤
You’re very much welcome, Jackie! And thank you very much for your support! I live in Aus too.
Great tutorial. Thanks for the coffee grinder cleaner too.
The user guide was useless.
Happy to know my video helped!
Спасибо вам огромное
My pleasure!
Thanks for the video. Is there a way to adjust the amount of milk foam?
I don’t think so, Umut. That would be a good function though
Great tutorial just one question why do I find a lot of water in the drip tray when I never have a overflow?
I honestly don’t know. But a lot of people have also experienced the same thing. Maybe it’s normal? Sorry I can’r be more helpful.
How regularly would you recommend cleaning the coffee filter? Thanks for the great content!
I clean the coffee filter at least once a month.
Hi this is brilliant thanks so much for sharing! Anyways, I was wondering how many times /month does the descaling process should take?
Hi Fahira. Thanks for the appreciation. I honestly have not worked that out. However, it should depend on your usage and the water hardness.
When my machine was new, I got the descaling icon more often. Now it's every 2 months (on schedule with the water filter change). I have at at least 2 lattes a day.
Cheers for this. Very helpful. My drip tray is filling up every few days, and the coffee spouts flush water on every turn on and turn off, I think this is self cleaning, is this normal?
Yup. That’s the normal cleaning mechanism of the machine.
Hey mate, do you do teardowns/disassembly for these machines? I have one that's almost the same, but out the box a few of the side panels don't lock into place as they should and I am not sure I want to discover how to open it up on my own.
I don’t do teardowns, mate. Sorry. I recommend calling customer service and requesting for a replacement
Proudly owner of this magnificent coffee machine, thank you so much for your video.
Great video, only thing I'm struggling with is the coffee grinder. When you first open it up, it looks like mine standing straight, but then it it's tilted to the left and can be easily removed. How do you get it to tilt to the left? Mines not doing that and I can't get it out 😭
Make sure that the machine is unplugged. That usually works
Absolutley brilliant and very helpful. Sub'd and notified as a new Subber. Thank you.
I wasnt cleaning the milk spout properly or the coffee grind/filter, also I was doing the descaling wrong lol
Question, when the water filter light comes on and Ive descaled, inserted a new water filter, the red water filter light is still on, how do I clear that ?
Is there a water filter light? Mine doesn’t have one actually. Maybe that’s a different light you are referring to.
But thanks for the support! Really means a lot!
@@gabeslifestuff yes there is a red change the water filter light. I did the clean and changed the filter but it won't clear.
This is a great video, thank you.
1. How often do you need to descale this machine?
2. And do we not need to clean the grinder?
I am thinking on getting this one for my home, never had anything but a keurig machine yet.
I just descale it when the descale light flashes. You can clean the grinder basin with dry paper towel, but that’s about it. Avoid getting it wet.
Thanks@@gabeslifestuff have you noticed how often the light flashes in your experience?
Thanks for awesome videos man!
I just bought this one and can't wait to make a first coffee!
How often do you do each of these cleanings?
My pleasure! At least monthly for the coffee filter. At least weekly for the milk bottle.
Great video, Gabe! I got a quick question. I ran into a problem because I use pre-ground coffee. Do you know how if I have cleansed all the necessary parts so that it could work again? Also, does the machine really not work with a pre-ground coffee? Appreciate if you can answer!
It has the ability to use pre-ground coffee. Check out my video “use and review” to know how. Hope this helps
You mentioned there is a 2lt container/jug to catch the descaling liquid. Do you know where i might find one to buy?
I didn’t really go looking for one so I wouldn’t know. sorry
hey, just a quick one. what coffee beans are recommended or your experience. I heard that dark roast is too oily and clogs the grinder. cheers man
I don’t know about that really. Will keep that in mind when buying beens though. Thanks
Do you empty your water tank overnight (when you’re done making coffee) or do you just keep water in all the time?
I keep water all the time
Good evening! When I use the milk frothing function, squeeze the water into the tray (30-40 ml of water). It is normal?
Hi Simona. You mean water leaked out of the port when you attach the frother? I do get that sometimes. But what I do is put in a bit of muscle when I attach the frother to make sure it’s connected completely. That does the trick. Hope this helps.
Hey, quick question, have you ever had the machine not pour coffee? I've adjusted the grinds and cleaned it out and nothing is working. Thoughts?
Actually, I have. What I did was do a factory reset and it did the trick
When the machine automatically turns off, does it also rinse the milk spout if left in? Concerned about when someone accidentally forgets to rinse the spout after making ailk drink
You have to press a button to rinse the milk spout after making coffee with milk. Check out my video named Delonghi Magnifica Evo Use and Review. I explained how to do it there. Hope this helps!
Is it necessary to do another cleaning process despite the descaling? Can you use those cleaning tabs as it can be used for other Coffee machines?
I think so. The reason for descaling is only to remove mineral buildup in the ‘pipes’ of your machine. As to your second question, do mean “can you use the descaler fluid in other machines?” If so, I’m not sure. The manual says you should only use the descaler provided by delonghi. Hope this helps.
Greta video!
I have one question though
How do I know when I need a descaler? I use tap water that is "rinsed" (?) so I don't know if my water has scale in it (it should not have it).
So I don't know if that step is necessary for me?
Does the machine show when I need to descale it?
The machine will tell you if you need to descale it, as shown in the video. So, you always need to have a descaler on hand.
@@gabeslifestuff Oh I think I didn't catch that when I was watching it. You must mean the symbol at 1:27
Yes. that symbol. :)
Let's say I use really hard tap water with a lot of limescale. How much of residue this water filter is able to remove? What is composition of this filter? Does it remove only limescale or other contaminants too?
Hi Tom G. Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to that question. I think it’s best to ask Delonghi about this kind of stuff.
Do you remove the round metal disc when cleaning the infuser?
No, I don’t. Haven’t really tried removing the metal discs before.
The first filter comes with the machine? Mine didn’t have any 😬 i live in norway and water quality is super good here though, basically no scale in water boiler or washed dishes and stuff 🧐
Yeah. There was a water filter that came with the machine
Which better, Delonghi magnifica Evo or Philips 5400?
I dunno, mate. I only have the Magnifica Evo. 😅
Machine looks good and easy to use. Just wondering what the dimensions are with the drip tray removed. The cabinet I am storing it in is only 42 cm in depth.
Just wondering if it would fit with the drip tray removed
Hmmm? I’m kind if doubtful that it will fit. And even if it will, I’m already thinking of how it would be a bit of a task to keep pulling-out and putting-back-in the tray. Hope this helps, Ciaran.
Any pointers on how to clean the bean hopper?
Awesome question, Bernie. But I think you just have to leave it alone. Just make sure nothing, other than whole coffee beans, touches the surface of the hopper. Hope this helps!
Quick question. Does step 1 take up to 45 min or all 3 steps in total take 45 min? My machine seems to be stuck at step 1 (maybe?). It spit some water out and stopped doing anything 🤷🏻♂️ I can’t seem to activate step 2. Any suggestions?
About 45mins all up. But yes, the 1st phase can take up to 30mins and, in my experience, there will be moments where it does not seem to do anything.
This is an amazing video. I just bought this machine and after 3 days I cleaned the milk bottle and I have noticed the nozzle began to extract a lot of hot air and a little milk. Like there is an air leak from the machine to the bottle before it goes to the nozzle.
Thanks, Gareeb. Hmmm? Have you tried pressing on the milk bottle to the slot and then using it? This sometimes works for me because it’s simply a matter of making a better seal between the bottle and the slot. Otherwise, you may have to call customer service
Hi there ! I bought this machine few weeks ago. I feel like my espresso is a bit ... Watery... And coffe waste is not dry - there is some water in waste container. You have the same ?
Yeah. My espresso is a bit watery as well. And yes, the coffee pulp I get is not completely dry, it’s a bit moist.
Hi man!
I have a "problem" with my Magnifica Evo. My drip tray is filling up with water, even with having a cup catch all the turning on/turning off cleaning cycle. I have found that there is more water in the drip tray after each coffee brew and DeLonghi says this is ok due to the pressure release. I wanted to ask if you have the same "problem" with your model?
My drip tray does fill up with water even if I put a cup to catch the water during the cleaning cycle. But I’m not sure if it’s just someone else forgetting place the cup underneath the spout after making coffee.
@@gabeslifestuff Thanks for the reply. I already found out on the forum that this is a feature of newer models that have a separate vaporizer.
I've heard about lubricating machine parts periodically. Do you know anything about it?
Hi Pelin. No. I don’t know anything about lubricating the parts
I have the same machine. I keep getting the general error triangle code and it won’t even make an espresso shot now. At first it would make a very watery shot no matter what the grinder adjustment was and then it completely just stopped . I’ve descaled it and cleaned it numerous times. I’ve cleaned the grinder and filter. And no dice. $800 machine I had for 4 months and doesn’t even work anymore
I think you may need to call customer service. You might have to get a replacement.
when cleaning the coffee filter, what happens when you dont turn off? i`ve done it several times i guess.
You won’t be able to pull it out because it won’t be in the proper position.
I clean it regularly, but from a few days it stopped making good foam. The filter is also new, what could be the problem?
I’m not sure. Sorry. There’s no way to adjust the foaminess of the milk from what I can tell. You might have to ask customer service about that
Have you ever had issues with using preground coffee?
I used it once and it wont work second time
No I haven’t. Make sure the machine is already turned on before you put in the coffee
Any idea why I get the triangle with the exclamation mark when I try to do the descaling process? I press the button for 5 seconds like the instructions and instead of the machine starting the process I just get the “!” Flashing
I’m not really sure because that never happened to me. Did the red “descale notice” light turn on prior to you starting a descale cycle?
Hello! My De'Longhi Magnifica Evo ECAM 290.61.B got stuck between step 2 and 3. from the place through which the boiled water flows, a click was heard for an hour as if it was trying to get the water out but something wouldn't let it. the descale button was flashing but still in stage 2. I pressed it and the story of the water not flowing started again. now fleshing hot water buttons, triangle and water holder (although all the accessories are correctly inserted). What can I do?
Hi! Sorry to hear about your experience. I’m sorry but I don’t have experience troubleshooting this kind of problem. You might have to call customer service for it. The only thing I can think of is maybe restore it to factory settings? Hope this helps. Let me know what happens!
How u clean the instant coffee compartment? Mine become so dirty and now blocked
Oooh. Good question. I think you mean the hole for the ground coffee. I haven’t had any problems with it yet. So you may have to ask customer service for that. Please kindly share to us what they say. Thanks!
Question...After I descaled, my delonghi evo magnifica won't brew an expresso... When you hit the expresso button it pours a large coffee.... Help....
Ooh. I haven’t tried, but maybe you can try adjusting the water level of your espresso just like you would the normal coffee option. See if that works.
