- The Tacoma Police officers exonerated by a jury in the death of Manny Ellis are voluntarily resigning from the department. All three officers will receive a $500,000 payout. "Labeling these officers as criminals and calling for their firing and prosecution was a reckless, political witch hunt," said Tacoma Police Union IUPA Local 6 in a statement. The Spotlight has details on the settlement and reaction from the Tacoma Action Collective who supported the Ellis family.

City government has no balls
1) These "activists" have zero sense of community responsibility or social integrity with their neighbors. And that TPD caved to the pressure shows both their weakness and the reason for people's unwillingness to jump into what was aleady a thankless job made even more difficult by corrupt politicians and social justice wackjobs.
2) The person who stole from these volunteer community servicemen and women either had zero scruples or was looking for something to pay for their next drug fix.
3) I agree with Lindsey that this well-intentioned effort to recycle old and damaged cell phones is not working as advertised and providing an indirect and unintentional incentive for theft of personal communication devices. At up to $120 each, a savvy pickpocket or quick lifter could net $10,000 in a week for stolen phones.
4) It's not at all surprising that there are stalkers and kidnappers on the loose, considering the hit police departments have taken over the past five years. Politicians hamstring them with legislation and then get people to denounce them as incompetent or corrupt for their legal inability while making big bank from the campaign donations those same people are suckered into giving and smearing those who oppose them for enabling or even perpetrating said crimes.
5) Good on this mother, though efforts of this type rarely come to any fruition because of two factors: The drivers was innocent of intent and distracted or guilty of intent but savvy enough to remove any identifying marks.
6) People should have the wherewithal to avoid sex at all until after they get married because laws like this are ineffective. Often the result of a consensual one-night stand by lonely individuals with total strangers, the violated usually can't remember the violator's face or name because they never expect to see them again and don't commit such details to memory. You can't regulate the behavior of people who refuse to be regulated.
7) Liberal-run states and jurisdictions have little awareness of the causes for homelessness, of which there are many: Domestic violence, substance abuse and mental illness are just a few. They have even less desire to find meaningful solutions because perpetual issues mean perpetual income from those who are affected but either too ignorant of or too poisoned against the other side to look elsewhere for effective solutions.
I think it’s twisted thinking at play here. The men were exonerated, but can’t, after all this negative publicity, be expected to go back out into the community and work without a backlash. As I see it, the 500k is compensation for losing their careers.

They took millions away from them by forcing them to quit. The taxpayers also had hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in training and equipment. Imagine being forced out of your career because you were innocent of a crime.

The joke is the action of the mayor declaring these cops murderers before due process. They were innocent and did not kill him. He knowingly killed himself. Back in 2012 Tacoma PD killed one of my soldiers a young black sergeant (E5 type) on the day that he was PCS’ing. He was trying to go say goodbye to his girlfriend when does car that was driving by and I have a history of pulling the trigger jumped on his car and shot this young black US soldier. What make matters worse is what they did next they tried to paint the picture of the soldier as being a thug when they didn’t even know the soldier.

336 people relocated in an entire year. They spent 25 million dollars...do the math how much is that per homeless person.
So you have to pay off murdering police officers to get them to leave the force and they just go and apply for another within 20 mi of where they should have been fired not paid off
