Something about Orville's music... I grew up in Texas, in a strong Southern environment - and though I live more in the city now, I grew up around my extended family out northeast and in the country/rodeo environment. And while it's nostalgic for me, I always felt... disconnected from it. Even before I knew I was queer, I knew I was different, I wasn't really like everyone. And it sort of ruined the nostalgia a bit. Like, what was this disconnect? Why didn't I feel like I belonged? And then when I did discover I was queer, I was like, oh that's why. These are mutually exclusive things and I don't belong. I did not belong inside my own childhood nostalgia, I did not belong in my own culture. And that hurt, that felt so isolating. But other country LGBTQ+ folks, people living here in the American South who are becoming more accepting, who are becoming more brave about how they are, makes me realize these things are not mutually exclusive - I can be queer and enjoy and even belong in my culture. I can be proud of myself and my culture. Orville's music (in addition to all the other LGBTQ+ country artists, but Orville's just speaks to me in particular) recontextualizes country music and says "nope, we belong here too, we were born into this just like everyone else here". Sorry, long comment, but it just speaks to me in that particular way. 💖

One of the really great phenomena about overting homoerotic imagery is that once the gays have it the straights can never have it back. It's a claiming of space that's deliberate and profound because it requires the user of that imagery to re-evaluate not only it's context but themselves & their place in it.
Yeah they can. They just make it hyper masculine to the point of parody. They do it all the time. Its okay to share a space thats not considered gay in the mainstream without having to claim it to be sacrosanct. I'm a Straight dude. Orville Peck is a genius and I don't feel slighted or like somethings been changed forever when he injects his vision and his twist on the southern "ballad"( I hate calling it country music since I don't really care for it much) He's one of the first lgbtq artist to make me actually appreciate his sexuality being a part of his musical identity and I can sit through everyone one of his videos as gay as they are and vibe without feeling like he's forever "ruined" something for straight people. Short version: The genre is for every one, he's expanding it. Tooting horns and claiming comes off antagonistic, he's one of yaw'll but he ain't JUST for yaw'll. We winning too from his artistry.
Your music speaks a truth that has been lost in country music for a long time... you tell a story with your music that is real... all country music could use a lesson or two from you on what it means to be an artist
Amo a este man. Su música me hace sentir en una época vieja, por la que no pasé, y que sólo existe en mi cabeza. Es extraño pero su música, su estilo y sobretodo su voz, me hacen sentir cómodo, refugiado y muy seguro. ¡Lo amooooo!
I’m not of the community but have been a punk my entire life. We need the subversive in this world and Orville Peck leads the charge with talent and humanity. This track needs to find its way up into the next David Lynch project.
another straight male here,... this video and "No Glory in the West' are absolutely mesmerizing.... the best music video productions to come out since the glory days of MTV in the 80's.... Orville Peck FOR President!
One of the really great phenomena about overting homoerotic imagery is that once the gays have it the straights can never have it back. It's a claiming of space that's deliberate and profound because it requires the user of that imagery to re-evaluate not only it's context but themselves & their place in it.
Robert Viscusi YES OMG THIS!! Every fucking letter in your comment. Especially the first sentence 💕💕💕💯💯💯💯
@@BlaqueCzar What you just described is the gayest thing possible.
Being gay is barely even gay anymore nowadays. It's pretty straight
@@australien6611 Sorry to upset you so.
The part in the middle where he goes into "Roses Are Falling", I swear he sounds like Elvis resurrected. Love me some Orville.
being surprised with my fave song off the album mid diff song from the album is everything i coulda ever wanted
Orville Peck is on level with Johnny Cash. I will die on this hill.
Your music speaks a truth that has been lost in country music for a long time... you tell a story with your music that is real... all country music could use a lesson or two from you on what it means to be an artist
The new Elvis of this century. same class, same charism, same charm. Very very good Orville / DP
Gonna put my quarantine time to good use re-watching this
"Earth Angel" guitar just kills this song... roses are falling
I am a newbie to Orville. I am so intrigued and mesmerized by him and his voice. 💗
I love Orville’s music doesn’t matter If you’re gay or straight, his music touches your soul such a beautiful voice.
Amo a este man.
Su música me hace sentir en una época vieja, por la que no pasé, y que sólo existe en mi cabeza. Es extraño pero su música, su estilo y sobretodo su voz, me hacen sentir cómodo, refugiado y muy seguro. ¡Lo amooooo!
I am so ready
You have no idea
You made me enjoy country music again.
👏
I’m not of the community but have been a punk my entire life. We need the subversive in this world and Orville Peck leads the charge with talent and humanity. This track needs to find its way up into the next David Lynch project.
There is a David lynch vibe to all Orvilles video's. Thanks Google putting O.peck in my music news feed
another straight male here,... this video and "No Glory in the West' are absolutely mesmerizing.... the best music video productions to come out since the glory days of MTV in the 80's.... I wouldn't care if the artist was purple, yellow or green,... gay , straight or Korean.... when the music and artistry are of this caliber,... you just got to love it.....you can't help yourself...
So happy for mama Lou Lou. Always wishing her the best. The most humble beautiful queen stays slaying it ❤️❤️
This song was third one I listened after Death of night....and OMG the lyrics, sound melodys or harmonies with his voice is awesome. He has so talent and also very creative ❤
Does anyone else get a Chris Isaak vibe from Orville?
Thank you UA-cam algorithm. You're really putting in work.
Love and everything it encompasses, the highs and lows, the peace and tragedy, transcends any labels we put on ourselves. We are all people feeling the same things, simply in slightly different fashions. Art like this brings us closer together as people, and it feels good to have the privilege to soak it in.
UNGH the elvis-esque breakdown a la "Love Me Tender" I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
The 10 people that dont like this are the ones that lost in the pageant
@@australien6611 Sounds like you have some internalized issues to work through there, bud. This is the best, most pure thing to happen for a minute.
Actually, I’m against animal cruelty. Which is being glamorized in this video. I love Orville, he’s amazing and sexy AF, but this is not glamorous for any of the animals being abused.
Karin where’s the animal cruelty?
Hudson Chesteen 1:13 for example.
@@kayzee25 actually I 100% agree. I don't understand why we would want to encourage and support rodeos. You're right,...but I do still love orville and the video
"Roses are Falling" is my absolute favorite among so many favorites by Orville Peck. First saw his videos on April 15th and immediately got tickets to the April 22nd Vegas show! love, love, love! that voice melts me everytime. "Hello. I'm Orville Peck" le sigh
This video is so weirdly relaxing, same with the song medley. I'm getting over pneumonia and it takes me to a chill place that reminds me of all my favorite rural town experiences. With the added LGBTQ message that's very positive. I love his voice.
i'm not a country music person, but Orville Peck just hits different
wooOoOhOooOOOooo Billy Bob's and the Fort Worth Stockyards representin'
Late to the party. In LOVE with ALL OF THIS!!! ❤️
I wasn't ready when I clicked on this. I thought it would be the usual western stuff, but this is historic. Absolutely phenomenal, did not expect this at all
That green and pink fit Orville's wearing is EVERYTHINGGG
Just discovered this artist... IM IN LOVE.
Me too!❤
I'm here because I heard this song on IG!!!! . Its so damn dope and reminds me of the movies in the 80s we used to love.❤
Welcome to the rodeo!
Shoutout from a straight non-cowboy. Cant wait for the Houston show.
Orville has such a perfectly campy, saturated, thoughtful aesthetic. Glad my algo recommended him and stoked to see him perform soon. I think I need to buy a cowboy hat?
this was so iconic i don’t even know what to do with myself
I would like to hear Orville sing 'The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia' !
I just can't stop listening to Orville Peck day and night I'm genuinely addicted
This music video gives me Twin Peaks, Deadpool and Uptown Girl vibes... I love it
Not only is your music fantastic, but I love how you really do include all body types here and don’t just play lip service to representation. It’s so refreshing. Please keep it up. 👍🏻
