When I listen to anything by The Midnight, it’s impossible to not visualize a story in my head that brings up snippets of memories from the 80s that I had tucked away.
That saxaphone part is an ASMR trigger. SOOO good.

Tim was asked about that at the Baltimore show in 2022. What he said was really informative. The saxophone is a "single voice" instrument and as such mimcs the human vocal capacity. I think this is exactly what you are hearing.
That's exactly how I feel, sometimes I break down at that very part. It mimics the anguish of the lyrics

What a beautiful surprise again from you guys 😇 I'm just blown away, light years away ha ha.. This song holds a strong memory of me falling in love with The Midnight and this incredible musical genre bit by bit. I got to listen this synth gem for the first time in March 2019 as I remember exactly and has been a cornerstone to many of my sleepless nights since then, yet it still hits me in the feels.
And you both are podcast genius as always. I'm so in love with the warm cute smile and great voice of Nikki Flores and Tyler of course. Amazing blend of sonically, visually appealing tunes and melodies.
I adore every song of the band but I want them to break up with the record label and return to their older days when they were truly independent in a creative sense. I know it's a cynical statement but that's how I've felt about their music since the pandemic happened. Ok that's just me.
The Midnight are the best when it's daaaark.

So many of their songs do a number on my heart.
When I listen to songs by The Midnight I am always filled with a surging sense of hope and liberation. The music makes me feel energized. Its like a beautiful face has filled my vision and is smiling at me. Like a pretty girl used to when I was a kid and my heart would skip a beat. It’s the feeling of promise and hope. It is the reminder that life is about experiencing love, friendships and adventure and its not over yet. Sure I had all that when I was a kid in the 80’s but now when I listen to The Midnight the music is telling me ‘why cant you still feel that now?’ Its not over, turn up the volume and let those sweet nostalgic rhythms fill you with the same joy and energy. There is so much I could complain about in my life right now and much the same issues I’m sure millions of others are suffering. But in the 5 minutes of listening to this song and so many others by The Midnight I am taken to a better place far away. I’m young & fit, I’m on a train, I’m holding the hand of a pretty girl and she’s grinning at me because she feels the same sense of hope and adventure. Her eyes are alive and she has this fire in her that makes me just want to laugh, dance and cry out. God I miss that. Thank you The Midnight for giving me that emotion again!
