Probably. But he still wouldn't be King. That's what mattered to him more than anything. He never cared about the opinions of the other lions, he only wanted the throne
He's the one who rigged the stampede in the first place. So "saving" mufasa would have been the old problem-reaction-solution dialectic. May have worked for him.

Yeah I mean it probably would’ve improved his and Mufasa relationship. To Mufasa Scar would’ve been the one that warned him so he could save Simba but also saved his life as well. But Scar didn’t want to have a good relationship he wanted to be King.
Scar had poor leadership skills because he doesn't actually care about anybody but himself, only power. Mufasa was a good leader, he looks around every day to see how the society balances, and maintains that balance. Scar would rather rule over ruins, as long as he feels important & superior.

It makes me look at why do I have such a hunger for power and respect.
Scar is what Simba would have been if he'd never learned the responsibilities that came with being a king and just thought it gave him the power to do what he wanted.

It's kinda funny how Scar, who has a black mane, would in reality be considered the better Lion as a black mane indicate healthiness (IIRC). Then again, I guess you can't be a villain in a disney movie without wearing a bit of black haha
True, saw a vid about that. They pay for that attractiveness, their mane is hot.

You aint lying about it being associated with evil, but it can also be associated with seriousness. They made simba and mufasa seem friendly enough and approachable, but scar was no game. Superman coming back in an all black suit? Playtime is over. That might just be my own perspective and not the actual case tho.

I think something interesting is that while Scar maybe tactically smarter than Mufasa he is actually really bad at being king. Mufasa carefully explains that the food must be carefully maintained and when Scar lets the Hyenas, basically a mercenary army, eat and hunt uninterrupted he upsets the ecosystem causing famine.

@@061romell If I remember correctly there was also a drought at the same time. So not only were the Hyenas over eating the food supplie but many of the animals were dying of starvation.
@@Harleyxjokerforever The song the circle of life is literally right after Mufasa explains that the lions have to carefully maintain the balance. Scar doesn’t care about that and causes a famine. You’re right that there is a drought but the drought just further highlights Scar’s inability to rule, careful maintenance of the “Circle of Life” would’ve left the lions in a better place come a time of drought but now the pride lands has to sustain not only the lions but the hyenas who lack the same restraint.
Scar does care about the ones he rules over, which is why he doesn't make a good king
There's one thing you missed that I was waiting for. And that's the parallel between young Simba and Scar. When Simba was young he would explain how he can't wait to be king so he could do whatever he want. Even had a super popular song about that one idea. But his father taught him that there was more to being a king than just getting your way. That he had to respect the circle of life which is to say even though they as carnivores would eat their subjects, it's only because of their subjects that they get to continue to live. And when they die it will be their subjects that feed on them. As Simba grew older he began to understand what his father taught him but it was Scar that truly didn't get it. Scar and the hyenas hunted and hunted with no thought in their heads other than a full belly. Not realizing that eventually there won't be any food left to eat. And when Sarabi warned him of the incoming death of their pride, Scar retorted "I'm the King! I can do whatever I want!"
Simba learned. Scar didn't. If Simba didn't have Mufasa to teach him who knows what kind of King he would have turned out to be.

Another thing they have in common is that they have sidekicks in the form of outcasts obsessed with food, but Simba treats Timón and Pumbaa with respect and care, earning their loyalty. Scar treats the Hyena clan with apathy and disdain, to the point of betraying them to save his own hide.
@@isaaccraig8711 Exactly. Scar represents the kind of tyrannical and irresponsible king Simba could have become if he grew too obsessed with his future power and never got any guidance to be king.
So you should have known that as a child, Scar simply did not have a role model. He essentially did not have a father who would teach him everything Unlike Simba, who had a father.
I always thought the reason Scar didn’t kill Simba was because he didn’t want to get Simba’s scent on him and therefore tipping the lionesses off to what actually happened.
That’s pretty smart. Mufasa and Sarabi would have torn him apart if he killed Simba.
That's a good point, and even if he tried to get the sent off with mud or something, the lionesses would've gotten suspicious seeing how he's covered in the stuff, as if hiding something. I guess his downfall was that he was too blinded by the thought of succeeding that he forgot to make sure that the job was done. He could've forced the hyenas to show him Simba's corpse and make sure the job was done, but he didn't.
Kind of the opposite of Yzma in The Emperor's New Groove: Yzma immediately notices how nervous Kronk gets when Kuzco's "death" is mentioned. Rapidly she forced him to confess and realized he didn't do his job. If Scar had noticed the same with the hyenas he could've realized that Simba was still alive somewhere.

Scar definitely ushered in a new class of male antagonists for Disney. His impact cannot be overstated. Frollo, Hans and Dr. Facilier probably wouldn't exist if Scar hadn't come before.
FROLLO: Scar was a villain who rose to power. Frollo was a villain who was already in power from the very beginning. Scar was a talking animal lion who doesn't exist in real life. Frollo was a human being. Scar was evil out of jealousy and greed. Frollo was just naturally evil. Scar knew he was evil and delighted in every moment of it. Frollo believed he was a pure, righteous & just man.
HANS: Hans was from a fairy tale. Scar was based on a Shakespeare play Hans failed to kill Queen Elsa. Scar succeeded in killing King Mufasa. Hans was just a jerk who took advantage of Anna's desperation of love. Scar was a truly evil dictator who lies, murders & blames his murder on Simba.
DR. FACILIER: Dr Facilier is driven by greed and money. Scar was driven by jealousy. Dr. Facilier used voodoo magic. Scar used his brains and natural strength.
Now that you've done Scar, you need to do Shere Khan as well. It is really interesting comparing these two with each other.
There are a lot of similarities, aside from the obvious, of course. They are both intelligent. And sadistic enough to toy with their prey. Extremely ruthless in pursuit of their goals.
But there are also differences. While Scar is physically weaker than his 2 primary enemies there is no doubt that Shere Khan is THE apex predator in the jungle. Even other predators are wary of him. And while Scar is underestimated until his rise to power no one underestimates Shere Khan. Everyone knows him. And everyone is afraid of him. And it's clear from his confidence that he knows it.
in the disney cartoon, yes, that’s true! in the original jungle book, Shere Kahn was actually described as being “lame in the foot” and seen as weaker than the other beasts. thats why he became a man-killer: humans are seen as the weakest prey in the jungle. Mowgli got rid of him by scaring him with fire.🤔

I think Scar is one of the most dangerous villains ever because you don't know his game is about until it's too late. Hes not the strogest lion in the pride but the smartest and deceitful ruled by greed. There are a lot of people like Scar in this world and that's scary AF
"Smartest" is a bit of a stretch because he pretty much has zero idea on how to successfully rule a kingdom.

Koba from Planet of the Apes. His story carries an excellent message on what hatred can do to a person.
He's definitely an interesting "villain". Although he did horrible things, I still empathized with him and perfectly understood why he wanted to take revenge on humans at all cost.
I also think Koba would be an excellent study. Like Killmonger he actually had an understandable cause but the hatred in his heart made him go to far. Hurt people hurt people

This video reminds me of just how good the original lion king is. The storytelling, the voice acting, and the animation was top notch or maybe I’m just nostalgic.
I think this still holds up. Disney may have lost their energy for creativity in recent years but we love Disney for the stuff they do right.

Fun fact about Scar; in a non-canon novel of the Lion King, Scar's real name is Taka, which loosely translate to "Dirt," "Trash," or "Want" in Swahili.
It's no wonder why he had a lot of insecurities over his older brother while the two were growing up together.
Then again, as you said, that novel is non-canon. We can never be sure if he really was ignored by his parents or if it was just pure envy that drove him to what he did. We can assume it's the latter, seeing how Mufasa kinda treated his brother well: he never bullies him, only berates him when Scar says harmful stuff about him and his son. Watching the movie, I noticed that Mufasa was pretty respectful of Scar despite his attitude, so being killed by the brother he trusted is still very painful.
In Japan “Taka” means “hawk”. That’s interesting
I think it’s only in the remake that they try to give a reason for his envy and that was Scar was in love with Sarabi but she was in love with Mufasa and it’s implied they had a fight over it which resulted in the scar. Also in the Lion Guard, they hinted that Scar’s actual name was Askari after the very leader of the lion guard
Scar does have a lot of insecurities over his older brother. All his life he was reminded of how he was lesser to Mufasa (which is why he got so violent towards Sarabi because she compared him to Mufasa) in virtually everything.
It would be cool to get an episode on gollum from The Lord of the Rings, he’s a classic example of excellent character development in stories.

@@DavidxLight This Man has analysed Villains who aren't fully black in their evil like Colonel Kutrz. A man who was distraught with the Vietnamese War and rebelled with acts of extremism. His haunting last words 'the horror' perfectly summarises the inner turmoil he went through and the intangible burdens that have been passed onto the main protagonist.
He's also looked at Tetsuo from Akira and Arthur Fleck from 'Joker' who are characters with tragic upbringings and violent outbursts motivated by feelings of inferiority at crucial moments of their lives.

My nephew once asked me why the heroes never try talking to villain.
I explained to him there are some people words just won’t reach. Scar is one of those people.

I'd actually like to see an episode about the hyenas from The Lion King, or at least one about Shenzi. You can see her starting to have doubts about Scar as early as the "Be Prepared" scene, but she seems to go into denial and keeps following his plan until she's finally forced to admit in the end that he doesn't have the hyenas' interests in mind. A really underrated villain.
I wouldn’t say she had doubts during the Be Prepared scene, so much as she didn’t understand what Scar was planning, until he screamed it to her. However, I do agree that she probably suspected that Scar didn’t have the hyenas best interests at heart once he became king and his betrayal of the hyenas confirmed this.

Fun fact: Scar looks more masculine despite his somewhat feminine antics. I don't exactly know how it works, but defeats do make lions age faster and that is easiest to notice from the color of their mane.

5:03 I would also argue he makes the mistake of letting his sadism override his better judgment. He just had to make Simba feel guilty for “killing” Mufasa, when he could have just killed him. He makes the same mistake at the end of the film. Instead of sending Simba falling to his death, he just had to rub it in his face that he was responsible for Mufasa’s death, leading to Simba leaping at Scar and forcing him to admit the truth. This is a mistake that leads to the downfall of many Disney villains, such as Ursula, Gaston, Frollo, and Clayton.
Scar is a bad dude but Jeremy Irons' voice is amazing.
I love the attention you give to Scar and Mufasa's body language and all around visuals! Truly highlights the strengths of animation and why it makes characters so fun to work with.
Adapting Hamlet for the story was brilliant. And the story is told is such a clear way and the characters also have clear motivations makes it so that its very easy for kids to grasp the basics behind of the story and even the moral undertones to it. Not only one of the best animated but also one of the best movies made.
The Book of Exodus and Richard the III are also in that mixing bowl. Either way, you are right.
I think the the outlawing of mentioning Mufasa's name is a symptom of Scar's madness. There is a deleted scene called "the madness of Scar" where Scar bemoans his lack of love among his subjects, ultimately deciding he needs an heir. So I imagine his snapping at hearing his brother's name was a holdover from his implied madness in an earlier version of the script. That and his refusal to abandon Pride Rock even in the face of certain death.
I like the visual of scar being the only lion who always has his claws out to keep up the evil look.
If Scar wasn't so consumed my envy and resentment he had the charisma to be a well loved luitentent to Mufasa

I could relate to Scar in a sense. Since I lived in the shadow of my older brother for many years, from looking a lot like him, being compared to him. It got old at one point but the only thing is for me, I wasn’t envious of my brother and didn’t kill him of course.
The key is to go out into the world away from his suffocating presence, find your your own path and excel.

Scar is one of the most detestable Disney villains. He not only murders his brother in cold blood and attempts to do the same to his nephew, but he makes his nephew believe that he caused his father's death. Scar's death is one of the most satisfying Disney villain deaths.
Probably the best analyzation of the character I’ve seen. I’ve seen some TLK fans try to make him out to be the victim or even go as far as to say he did nothing wrong.
For a future episode, I would recommend doing a villain from the Godzilla franchise, chiefly Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla.

Personally, I thought the animated version of The Lion King was better than the live-action version. And Scar has, if not one of, the best villain songs ever written.
The next villains you should do is Tempest Shadow from My Little Pony: The Movie, and Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Those two villains would be interesting.

It was not live action at all though, the 2019 one is still an animated movie, just in CG. And yeah, it's terrible and a thousand times worse than the original film, that is still a masterpiece.
Scar is one of the best Disney Villains. He’s pure evil, cold blooded, sociopathic, cruel, malicious, very selfish and extremely narcissistic. I like that about him cause he’s easily hated.

Yeah Gaston is not evil at all. Honestly he is quite brave fighting the Beast and a house of possessed furniture because he is afraid that Beast had cast a love spell on Belle or gave her Stockholm Syndrome. His feelings for Belle are not lust based he appears to have love and admiration for her that no one else in the town has. He is the closest thing to a friend Belle has in the town too. Sure he locks up Belle’s father for being insane but Belle father would look insane too under the circumstances saying a monster kidnapped his daughter. Gaston probably thought he had killed her or something. And what does he get for his heroism impaled on a fence. Gaston is the most sympathetic and misunderstood Disney “villain”

I don’t know if your entire comment is played for laughs, but on the off chance that it is your points are off base.
Gaston got the asylum to try to lock up Maurice not for any altruistic reason, he explicitly does it to coerce Belle into marriage. Needless to say, threatening the well being of someone’s father to force them into a relationship with you is disgusting.

Assuming this is serious:
1 - The “Stockholm syndrome” thing is stupid, old, wrong and a worn-out joke that wasn’t even funny the first time. And to apply it here means someone has not been paying attention to the entire story.
2 - Gaston had a singular goal to get what he wants, regardless if it was mutually received. And he certainly wasn’t above using whatever means to get it.
3 - And if you want a clear illustration of what kind of evil he could commit: he literally stabbed the Beast from the back after the latter acted mercifully. It’s accepting someone’s good nature and then turning it against them. If that’s not evil, I don’t know what is.
In my opinion, Gaston is a prime example of a narcissist personally disorder. He that guy who had no problem getting girls.But as soon as he gets rejected for the first time by Bell,It's a shock to his being.NPD have a hard time with criticism (Look what he said in the bar "No one said no to Gaston".Like,How dare she rejects me,I'm buff and attractive.)NPD also have huge entitlment complex,He believes he is entitled to have Bell because he's attractive and popular.He becomes so obsessed with Bell,He literally becomes a stalker.
Let’s not forgot how Scar, in a deleted scene from
the movie which is included in the Broadway musical and the live-action film, became fixated on the idea of an heir and tried to force Nala into becoming his queen to produce one, which is ultimately the biggest reason for why she ran away (it’s a super creepy scene, even as just rough storyboards, since he’s not only rubbing up on Nala and circling her, but singing a rendition of sorts of “Be Prepared”; it has been animated and since wound up on YT, though I’m not sure how official that animation is). There’s a reason why that scene is referred to as “The Madness of King Scar.” He also corrupted several of the lionesses into following him wholeheartedly, particularly Zira, and chose her youngest cub Kovu to take on his mantle and legacy once he died, which caused a slew of problems later during Simba’s reign.
Furthermore, in the Lion Guard TV show, Scar gets resurrected as a ghost that tries to infect the Pridelands with his evil all over again, to the point that during his final moments, he has his snake minion Ushari strike and bite his grandnephew Kion ; this not only gives Kion a lasting scar, similar to the ones both Kovu and Scar himself carry, but injects him with a venom meant to turn him evil and corrupt. His final act as a ghost was to try and destroy another cub in his family, to make another him.
Oh, and Scar was the previous leader of the Lion Guard, which is traditional for the secondborn prince. However, being able to use the almighty Roar of the Elders that comes with the role convinced him that he deserved to be the next king. Scar tried to stage a coup and take the throne using the Roar, but the other members of his Guard refused to help him. Enraged, Scar turned the Roar upon them, killing all of them. Not only did this doom his coup before it got off the ground, but it also cost him both his role as the LG leader and the Roar itself, since that power may only be used for good. His greed left him about as powerless as he’s ever been, and he still refused to admit responsibility.
Quick trivia bit to provide some insight about Ahadi and Uru’s attitude towards their secondborn: Scar’s original name was “Taka.” It means “Trash.” They don’t seem to have been abusive, from what little we know of them, but they definitely treated Mufasa as the Golden child while Scar was left in the shadows.
In Lion Guard canon he was called Askari, named for the leader of the first Lion Guard. Which is a very esteemed name.

My coworkers called me Scar because I reminded them of him. I watched The Lion King as a kid long ago and didn't know what character they were referring to. Now I remembered. I quit that trifling job after 4 months.

I think it's worth noting that while most lions have their claws sheathed 90% unless they're in use, but Scar's claws are always out.
Scar's downfall wasn't trusting the hyenas to kill Simba. It was his hubris. Even when Simba returned, Scar was able to turn everyone against him, framing him for the murder of Mufasa, to where even Simba's supporters could only stand by. At the point of dealing Simba a killing blow, he chooses to gloat and reveal the truth to Simba, whose rage immediately and irrevocably turns the tables. Had he just kept his mouth shut, he would have defeated Simba and been vindicated in doing so.
The reason scar is so physically contrasting to mufasa is because in the original script scar was a rouge lion that mufasa took in and allowed him to stay there. They later changed it to make it his brother but his design was already made so the kept it as is.
Always did like scar, wish we had a villain like him in movies or shows with all the Machiavellian machinations included.
When watching the movie, you can see 2 characters that can’t wait to be king. While Simba song is exactly like a child that can’t wait to be grown and dreams for a life of no one to tell me what to do or boss around, basic stuff. But Scar son is shows his plot, motive, loyalty, and patiently waiting to be king no matter what price to pay
What’s ironic is that in the real world lionesses go crazy for lions with a darker mane. The real life Scar would be a stud muffin.

@@therokku7393 Rameses in 'The Prince of Egypt' was pressured to carry out a monumental legacy and raised to see Hebrews as little more than objects to be used as a means to an end, hence why he and his father pass them off as slaves. Moses and God however know that Hebrews are just as much people as the Egyptians are and they demand Rameses let go of his pride and let the people go peacefully.
Rameses refuses in spite of all the warnings because he's placed himself above God. The people of Egypt were called to worship Pharaoh as a deity, this isn't inherently mentioned in the movie but anyone who's looked into History will know that ancient rulers and even dictators of today like that of North Korea, demand worship and exaltation to boost their ego. This is why the Pharaoh states his heart will be hardened. Hearts of Stone are stubborn and refuse to be persuaded yet Hearts of flesh are humble and thus open to repentance and forgiveness, like Moses was.
In this regard, Moses shows regret for his past actions like when he reunites with his siblings before confronting Rameses again. Rameses on the other hand never regretted his actions and was proud of them. His pride against God was ultimately his downfall as not only was the mighty kingdom of Egypt brought to chaos but Rameses also lost his own son. Twas then he allowed Moses and his people to go only to later change his mind.
When the pillar of fire subsided, Rameses was once again offered the choice to either let the people be or continue fuelling his pride. By choosing the latter, he was brought to utter humiliation, crying out to Moses after losing everything he ever had.

I have always found Scar's story interesting.
Quite often, a villan's agenda initially fails. But to actually see the manipulation fruit in their favor makes the audience wonder how long the villain can get away with it.
Not necessarily support the villains behavior, quite the opposite! More like silently waiting for the villan's just deserves, acknowledge the inevitable mistake that unravels everything.

Just so you know in the Lion King novels Scar real name is Taka which means trash. Mufasa name means King. So imagine having parents that named one kid trash and the other King. Yeah I don’t blame him for resenting his family.

@@kylehill6384 and the bread and land hardly came to them. 20th century Communism caused more Death than any other movement in the previous 19 centuries put together. Scar's reign as King could be seen as a communist impact metaphor. After all, at the end of 'be prepared', whether intentional or not, the finale pose may be ominously shaped like the hammer and sickle symbol.
Another thing to note is Mufasa never respected Scar. In the film when Scar says "Oh I was first in line. Until the little hairball was born." Mufasa says he is MY son and YOUR king. Not my son and your nephew. He seemed to not even regard Scar as his brother but just another one of his subjects. And the only reason Mufasa visited Scar was because he wasn't at the ceremony for Simba. Nothing else. Not to see his brother and see how he was doing and talk to him like a brother should.
One of the many reasons Scar is rated so highly as a Disney villain is because he succeeded. Not only does he kill the hero but he's in power for years. Unlike many other villains who have a short-lived victory (i.e. Ursula who gains the trident and then is immediately killed or Jafar who becomes a genie and then is trapped in a lamp) Scar is king for a significant amount of time. And truly he only made one mistake in the entire film. Simba might have survived but he ran away. He came back but Scar immediately manipulates all of Simba's allies against him and is able to kill him without being apprehended by the lionesses. No, his only mistake was gloating and admitted he killed Mufasa before he sent Simba over the edge. Everything else worked out flawlessly, he is objectively one of the most, if not the number 1, most successful Disney villain

I think Scar had a soft spot for Simba. Simba loved him. That's why Scar couldn't kill him on the day Mufasa died, he was still his little nephew, it was too personal, so he gave his underlings the dirty work instead.

Eh he's a tad overrated imo. Not a popular opinion but quite a bit of his acts rely a little to much on extremely overly convenient coincidences and semi unbelievable circumstances. Monster was a good series and Johan definitely is an evil villain but people act like he's the greatest piece of writing ever made and it falls short in my opinion

Despite the out of order presentation, I believe you were pretty accurate about Scar... but I think it would've been a good idea to add to this by throwing in the "Lion Pelt" that was dawned by the hero character of the following movie Hercules as an Easter Egg. This said Easter egg scene shows said hero (Hercules) wearing a lion's pelt that remarkably resembles that of the villain in this very video, Scar. And yes, you can look this up here on UA-cam if you or someone else watching this doesn't believe me.

Perhaps I could make an analysis of Aku right here being a Samurai Jack fan.
Aku is the amalgamation of all evil as his name is literally the Japanese translation of the word 'evil'. He represents pure unadulterated evil akin to the Devil himself. Like the Devil, Aku can only be defeated by pure righteousness, in Samurai Jack's case, the Sacred Sword forged by the gods in the show.
Aku evaded initial wipeout from the gods and sapped out all the life he could when he escaped to earth. When the Emperor tried to stop him with magic arrows, it only made him grow a body and persona. Aku is invulnerable to earthly attacks. Aku then represents evil that cannot be defeated by traditional earthly efforts, only pure Good can wipe out Pure Evil. When Aku initially attacked japan, he caused mass destruction, showcasing his disregard for life and lust for chaos and power.
When Aku returned, he took over Japan, prompting the emperor's son to flee and train until he was ready. When the prince returned, he noticed Aku enslaved his people to gather materials and carve idols made in his image. Aku's evil is hence shown as narcissistic and materialistic.
When the prince fights him head on, at first he underestimates him but when he is about to lose, he tosses him into a future where Aku rules all. Aku is a cunning coward and cheats with magic. His rule causes fear and he refuses any criticism towards him as shown in episode 2 when someone calls him out his his abuse. Aku's rule creates a chaotic dystopia where Evil is law. The Samurai Prince now known as Jack has to save innocents under abuse of such tyrannical power. Jack brings hope, even surpassing Aku's propaganda.
Although Jack's journey is long and wearisome, Aku often makes mistakes motivated by his own selfishness. In one episode, he purposefully allows Jack to drown slowly and betrays the sea people who worked for him. This evil encourages the sea people to rebel and help jack escape certain death. Pure evil then will always backfire.
Jack is shown to be a hard worker, Aku cheats with magic. Jack takes no pleasure in killing, Aku revels in it.
In the end, Jack wins because he brings Hope to people and Aku loses ironically by his own very evil nature.

I'd like to see Professor Dolores Jane Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary and High Inquisitor of the Ministry of Magic, Headmistress of Hogwarts, from Harry Potter in one of your videos. She is an extremely well made and nuanced villain, especially in the books, and the movie managed to portray her perfectly, despite missing lots of details.
Some people have said that it's no wonder Scar became evil, since even his own brother didn't respect him (as when both Mufasa and Zazu joke about treating Scar like a dirty rug and beating him). Well, a prequel to this movie later revealed that, in the past, Scar WAS respected by Mufasa and the rest of the pride, and was offered the noble position of Mufasa's second-in-command. But that just wasn't enough for him.
I’m so glad you did this. As a kid and til this day scar is my favorite villain in fiction history. From his voice, his appearance to his personality. That remake of the Lion King though 🗑.

A few suggestions for future villains to analyze: Thanos (Infinity War), Ramses (Prince of Egypt), Sheriff of Nottingham (Prince of Thieves), Doc Ock (Spiderman 2), Wicked Witch of the West (1939 film). Would be cool to hear your thoughts.

Scar may be smarter than Mufasa, but what he lacks is wisdom.
A more subtle display of Scar's cowardice: he always has his claws out, yet never dares to fight anyone able to defend themselves. This is like a weak man who has to flash a gun at people to prove his "strength".

He reminds me of King Richard III, who after the death of his brother the King falsely accused his nephews of being Bastards. Parliament believed his lies and stripped the oldest, who was the Rightful King of his titles. Shortly after his was Coronation he Assassinated the true King and his younger brother and Lawful Heir in their sleep. 3 years later Richard III suffered the indignity of being the Last King of England to be killed in Battle. He was butchered and rightly so.

Yeah. Scar may have been intelligent enough to plot how to get Mufasa and Simba out of the way, but not enough to actually rule. He focused more on being recognized as king and showing off his authority, rather than doing anything to improve the Pride Lands.
