Yea bro so good. Unfortunate it received all the hate. It’s an incredible experience. It’s up there with Elden ring in my book.
It is indeed very addictive, some things are annoying (like the whole Fast Travel system, with Portcrystals just at 2 places), but are honestly very minor compared to the fun I have playing the game. Combat is great, classes are all unique, boss fights are epic, and I just love the randomness of the game, you're fighting something and them something else chimes in and joins the fray, either fighting you, what you're fighting, or both.
Yes, I feel like a kid. I can’t wait until my work from home days or I get home to play it. I also like when my gf has stuff to do so I can play the game 😊

At the cave turn off your lantern the Glimmercoal will glow stronger, its easy to spot

I played the first one for thousands of hours, hit level infinity (that is a level) maxed out all gear and still wasnt able to stop till i retired my 360. I never thought id see a sequel so this has made me stupidly happy and it is better in just about every way and it deeply pleases my inner child lol
The initial negative reception really bums me out because it deserves so much more, but also its mentality does not work with a lot of modern gamers, the idea of its form of fast travel giving people some massive problem with it is an example. I love it, it makes travel meaningful, the weight system makes planning more pertinent and i could go on and on.

Yeah if ferrystones were free, I could just put down portstones some places and be able to tp just about anywhere... The traveling has not stopped me from doing literally every single quest I have come across. I kinda like the quests in this game, it's not as good as some in the witcher 3 or cyberpunk, but the quest structure is quite nice, often giving me quite simple descriptions and letting me try and figure it out myself.
A quest for vilhemina I came across was nice. I tried to find her and some guy said she was busy. There was no quest marker after interacting with him, and so I left to come back later. Turns out you have to remember that theres a hole in the wall and use that to peek into the room she's in. A nice, "could I do that?" moment
I would say that the Devs are right. It's not that the systems are bad to people. It's that they didn't make them more fun or implement them better. Traveling could be greatly improved with more enemy types, more interesting events, better movement abilities, more random spawns, more vocations/skill slots, etc, etc. I wish that I can continue to get lost in the world but it doesn't take long for me to recognize the same spawns in the same spots. It's a good game but there's plenty to criticize.
You’re lying. The only better thing is the map. There’s less skills,enemies,weapons are all merchant locked,no end game, etc

Certain pieces of gear are in merchant inventories certainly but a good portion of gear is found in the world, as it was in the first game. However I'm not going to sit here and argue, but jusy because you disagree with me that hardly makes me a liar simply due to a difference of opinion.

Anyone else already have the glimmercoal and found the forge before even knowing this quest existed?
You can DEFINITELY get to the volcanic mountain area before the late game. The most I've done lately game-wise is the masquerade and that's it. I haven't done any other main quests and I've already been to the Volcanic area and the got Warfarer vocation

I’m not to sure either but i know battahl has like 2 or 3 other different entrances if you really look hard enough. Actually one of them is literally just a bridge and then you have travel down some mountains and caves to end up at the city. I recommend exploring the edges of battahl and youll probably find out how since im not there yet either
@@TrainerBlue192 Follow the coastline to get to Battahl. Then follow the main trail South. You'll eventually reach a massive cave, the other end of the cave lets out into a path to the Volcano Island.
If you do the first 5 Sphinx riddles, when she leaves you can jump on her back and she'll stop close by bakbathall in a cave, throw a port crystal there for later then just travel to the town, that's how i did it@@TrainerBlue192
@TrainerBlue192 Be warned, that cave is a fucking nightmare at lower levels. I think I went through around mid 30's and I was ok.
This can actually be accessed much earlier. Instead of progressing through the main story, there is a cave (Drabnir's Grotto) south of Bakbattahl (go down the road from Bakbattahl until you hit the 3 way split, take the middle road, go across the river and the cave should be at the end of that road) that takes you through to the Volcanic Island. Given you can also get through the checkpoint by going through a cave around the north side of the checkpoint rest town, your only obstacle is surviving the monsters you'll run into along the way, which shouldn't be hard if you level up just a bit.
Hopefully this helps, progressing the story to the point that you can open the door makes shit hit the fan so getting there early if you wanna grind it out is worth it. lol
You don't need Drabnir's Grotto for this, all this is in Battahl

You need to meet this npc at volcanic Isle before she even unlocks her shop in Bahtaal as part of her questline. You can pretty much buy the gear she eventually sells at Volcanic Isle even before finishing her quest. She doesn't sell anything special on her own.
@@theclairetwitchproject Correct. If you follow Battahl's road as South as it goes, you'll eventually hit Drabnir's Grotto at the very end. Once you exit the other side, just follow the south road to find Mountain Base Cave.
She also do dwarven upgrades so you don't really have to go all the way to the volcanic region to meet up with the dwarf and his milf elf wife.

You can get through the checkpoint into battahl by standing on the carts that come up and you can get through to the volcanic islands through draubnirs grotto at the bottom tip of battahl. I went there to unlock the magick archer and warfarer before i finished culling monsters for brandt so theres no story cap
You can get to the vulcanic islands at any point. Even at the very start of the game. There's "secrets" tunnels to both bakbattahl and one on from Bakbattahl to the vulcanic islands. They can be accessed at any point but it'll likely be hard to survive all the way there if you go at the start of the game (it CAN be done though)
She pretty much sells the same stuff the merchant in the Volcanic camp sells.

@@tkcjazzaI posted this but 10% off at this point in the game isn’t shite. You’ll probably have most of what she sells before you complete the quest. Even if you don’t, that 10% is only 4k off a 40k weapon. You can find 4k in seconds looting chests and just walking around
Sure its the same stuff, but its a much more convenient location. You're also now a short sprint from the dragonforge. Early on when port crystals and ferrystones are less common it can help.

You do not have to work through the game to get to Bakbattahl.There is a pass through the mountains North of Checkpoint Rest Town that passes by Frontier Shrine. Additionally, traversing Guerco Cavern and continuing that trail south will take you directly into Bakbattahl. Both routes are a little rough, but you will get a ton of Xp if you make it.

Just take the cart from the town and let the guards arrest you when you get past the gate, it takes u to the gaol and u can just use a key to get out
can you fuck up the quest by doing it too early, when you not yet have access to the volcanic island? is there not an alternate path to the volcanic island, you could use instead? Is it important to escort her out of the cave right away, so that the hammer doesn't cool off or does it not matter?

There’s an easier way to know which ones are Glimmercoal and which ones aren’t. The Glimmercoal resource node will say “Gather” while the Glymmcoal will say “Examine” when you go up to them.

Waiting for the oxcart basically resets time to the following morning instead of resting at the inn or dozing off at the bench

Just so you know, just as there is a way to sneak into Battahl before you do the main quest, you can sneak to the volcanic islands through a cave before you are granted access through Bakbattahl. Drabnir's Grotto. You should bring a portable teleporter.
There’s a Griffin that spawn in Bakbattahl next to the shore (there’s a bunch of harpies on a cliff) and he can give you a ride to the volcanic island. I haven’t done any quest but one at Bakbattahl and I’m already there buying the best gear lol

But just so you know....the vendors down stairs sell the same equipment lol
U forgot to mention the most important thing about saras shop. She is a dwarven style smithe. Its the style for enhancing your gear that will drastically improve your gears knockdown power/resistance. Its available from the dwarf you escort on volcanoe island to the hot springs but having a way to access enhancement of this style in bakbattahl is a huge time saver.
Does she sell the same item as the other shops in that area just cheaper? Or has she some unique things only she sells?
So there is a way around it, you don’t have to advance the main quest to get to volcanic area. There is a cave that will take you there, bypassing the door thingy.

You need to progress the main quest till you get Captain Brant to tell you to go to Bakbattahl.
Afterwards when you get to Vernworth palace Roman will approach you himself when you make your way to the palace doors.

You can actually find the area with the maces and The volcanic region early, it,'ll just be a harder trip than going the main story route
Guys I’ve done this quest and went shop could buy stuff and than on way back from volcanic island she was on way there and now shop it’s self is out of commission any idea

Does anyone know if once you’ve beaten the game and have access to the item that lets you entire the magic door to the volcanic island, can you access the door immediately upon starting NG+?
The weapons merchant in Volcanic Island Camp sells the same gear as Sara without doing the quest. I still think the quest is worth it.
Other videos were claiming this is "faster" than unlocking it from the dwarf...but it's not. You have to travel MORE to unlock this than the dwarf. The only upside to this is you get the smithing inside Bakbattalhl, which is only somewhat more convenient since you would want a port crystal at the Volcano Camp anyway, and the Dwarf Hut is not that far from it.
Will this change if you did the cinder quests for the elves already?
So idk if anyone else is having this problem but i completed this quest but before i did i completed the elven one where you have to ask for some crap for the elves tree and she doesnt open her shop she stuck staying its no problem for helping me with that stupid elven quest so is this bugged until further notice or is there a work around or fix?

I did this quest and the elf arbor heart one, now Sara is a permanently outside the volcanic bath, even ferrystoning her back she still just goes back 😂
And each 5 you give you get a 5% discount in future purchases, so 10% discount is available with all 25.
I figured as much seance she is marked as a weapons vender and coming to see her wears is the only reason i got to stage 2 of the quest
I didn’t see this mentioned at all but in my game, her shop never became available even after I did the full quest. I gave her 15 glimmer coal so I wonder if that is the difference.
She has to be inside the shop in order for her to count as a vendor. In my playthroughs she follows me around the city for some reason, so I have to literally pick her up and carry her into the back of the shop to be able to buy anything from her.
I do this quest as soon as I can every play through. You don’t need to have the quest, and there is 30 of them in the cave. You just need to turn your lamp off to see them in the dark.

Had the exact same question. I haven’t done the coronation or the masquerade yet and he won’t talk to me at all. So I’m guessing we might need to get past that atleast maybe

so i did the monster culling, 1st quest to infiltrate the castle and i did masquerade quest and after i went there even at night he was ready to aproach me looked like,in the main cortyard
I got his quest before doing the coronation on my first playthrough. I don't know if it was a good bug or not, haven't played through enough times yet to tell if it was a fluke.
I've been to almost everywhere and have yet to do the masquerade... story quests are not always required. Caves and side paths.
That’s true - just a lot of new players will struggle if they skip areas and jump straight to volcanic island for this quest - it’s still useful to complete this along the main story as the equipment is end game stuff anyways :)
I was able to get over 30 glimmercoal in the mine, just FYI. They're everywhere, I also collected all of the other shit to sell cause why not?
All regions can be accessed without story progress I only got to capital befor exploring the rest of the map, bahtal is reached via hiding ina cart or a cave, VI is also reached via cave south of bakbatal

Awesome! Just curious, how far into the main storyline do you need to be in order to get into that volcanic area? I haven’t been really doing the main storyline, I’m on the last quest with Brant in Vermund where he lets me know if there’s anything else I need to do before we depart.
You can actually get there without any main quest progression, but I would recommend levelling up first before as enemies are tough (which is why I mentioned going there as part of the main story) - You're going to go to the next area Batthal first, then need to do a couple of story missions there before you go to Volcanic Island - Volcanic Island is one of the last areas in the game :)

you only need at least 5 of them coals to hand over it seems, I believe giving her more coals just result in higher opinion (affinity) from her to you.
Weird, I gave her 10 and it didn’t let me progress so I ended up giving her all 25 - did you manage to just continue the quest with only 5 then?
@@tkcjazza For me it said right in the objective that I only need to get " at least 5" and I believe even during the chatting she said that you can get 5 or more. I ended up giving her 24 (missing 1 but oh well).

Well idk what I did wrong because she wasn’t accepting my 15. So I had to go back and get 25. 🤷♂️
You can get access to both Battahl and the Volcanic Island without progressing the story. You can walk right back to the miner camp you started the game in without doing any actual story missions.
Yeah true - I just figured people would have a rough time if they were getting there super early :)
@@tkcjazza It is not hard to get there even low level character, basically you can run through without fighting anything, being trickster is helpful to avoid fights.
It is kind of sad that you need to get to Volcanic Island to finish the quest, while if you are already there you can simply buy their stuff without need of this complicated quest, but is fun to do that.
You were there at level 38? I am still helping the Captain of the four main quests when I was level 40.

Yeah, but she also will start wandering around the city and won’t be at her Smithy most of the time so you have to chase her down and bring her back to the Smitty good game, but it has some real troll programming in it.
I rather say the volcanic area weapons and armor just becomes available in Battahl after completing Sara's quest.
I killed Roman my first gameplay, that mask quest made me public enemy number one wasn’t for none
If you collect everything in the cave you get about 35 of the glimmercole you need
The Cave has 56 Glimmercoal and over 100 of the bad ones 1 trip is enough

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but she kinda left her shop for me. I done the quest and all was good she opened up the shop as well, on top of that I befriended her so I got 10% off all items! Until one day I didn’t fell like walking to the volcano island area so I took a Farristone. I did t know she followed me all the way to the entrance of the city, so when I teleported she came with me! I noticed it because she was in the hot springs with my female pawns!
On returning back to the city she never returned, and still stays at the hot springs with same dialogue and all!
So is there anyone else that this has happened to, or that knows how to fix it?
I luckily didn't have this happen to me - I also can't remember if you can enter the hotsrpings without paying, because I would say you would need to grab her and teleport back to Bakbattahl (whilst carrying her) to hopefully fix it? - Otherwise, maybe look up on forums etc to see if there is a fix :)
Volcanic merchants sell the same stuff with less hassle.

All this gear pretty much becomes obtainable from all merchants in NG+
So. No matter you need to be late game to actually do this? Since im in bat at lvl 19 since i just ran there for some sphinx quest i cannot enter until later in the story? If so that's a bummer.
You can use the tunnel/cave south of bakbattahl - but you’ll have a bunch of enemies that are late game roaming around so if you want to chance it, feel free to go through there :)
You can sneak into Battahl using an oxcart that goes through every afternoon at the rest station. I did that because an NPC told me about it. You also get an achievement
She literally has the exact same inventory as the blacksmith in the volcanic islands, nothing new is sold and the only reason you should buy from her is for the 10% discount lol
Just to be sure i advise to give her all 25. Gave her 15 and the game didn't progress and i was stuck with the dialog every time i spoke to her just gave me the option to refuse her. So i never got the chance to have her as a merchant my first play. Could've been just a bug for me tho but second play through gave all 25 and it worked
Y cant more games have giant huge underground places like Elden Ring i love dragons dogma 2 but all the caves are tiny and i love my caves i wish we had massive huge dungeons that take hrs to explore and find secrets with puzzles and huge stalactites and lava falls and just more epic stuff
Keep giving her flowers and she'll give you a discount. If she disappeared check the hot springs pick her up and use a ferry stone to bakbattal and place her back in her shop.
i found 28 glimmer coal and gave her 25 don't know if that made any difference, oh right you said the same thing LOL
I found the guard Roman walking around but he won't give me the quest and I'm past that part of the main quest line, I can't find anything on Google can you help please.
Timed quest, if you already talked with ambrosius it might not trigger

Says "unique" and yet u can get the same exact things from her shop on volcanic island. The only differences are that she gives a 5% discount and she does dwarven smithing. Thats it. Theres nothing "unique" about her items that she sells.

if you meant the big door to volcano island, you can just go all the way down south through a cave
