Have you all noticed that Rozemyne is essentially a lovecraftian abomination by the standards of this world? She's an otherworldly being from outside the bounds of reality inhabiting and impersonating a mortal vessel. Her though processes are alien and unknowable and her knowledge of strange physics has the potential to force entire kingdoms to rise and fall by their will. All of this knowledge being used simply to compile greater knowledge in an endless cycle of consuming lore.
It amuses me to no end how Rozemyne, a girl who in her past life was not what she would consider religious, is somehow the most pious and religious individual in all of Ehrenfest to the point of shaping its future by teaching the proper way to perform rituals and casually blessing people without thinking.
Rozemyne acts like a true atheist. Once confronted with proof that the gods react to prayer (with the blessings), she changed her viewpoint and accepted the gods as existing in that world. While the nobles only consider that as formula for spells, and the gods as a form of folklore.

Angelica is the most highly specilized airhead i have ever seen. There is absolutely nothing going on between her ears until something related to POWER comes up, then she becomes absolutely brilliant.
The fact that the events have weight and justification is a key strength of this series. It is a fleshed out, livong world, not just a thin backdrop for telling a story.

He's already upset there isn't a season four anouncement and he just finished season two. Then I get a reminder on my phone that the next light novel comes out this wednesday. And finally, after a short conversation with my friend I refresh my recomendeds to find that this video has been uploaded. I'll stab who ever tries to ruin this day.
Something I've noticed Kazuki-sensei does kind of frequently: when a bunch of people are discussing a difficult problem, if they all think that no one can solve it, Rozemyne thinks up a solution on the spot. If, however, they all turn to her saying that she'll be able to think of something, she freezes up and panics. I don't know if this is for characterization or narrative purposes, but it's pretty prevalent. And now I can't stop noticing it. Also, does anyone else think that Willfried is a quintessential Himbo? [It causes me physical pain when you pronounce words starting with 'w' in the English rather than Germanic fashion, btw. But Rozemyne is "by definition a weeb" - Genius!]
It's Rozemyne's character. She has a train of thought that follows no schedule. When she sits on the side listening, it throws the right switches in her brain. This leads her to pipe up with a solution, because it gives her time to come to one. But if people immediately expect answers from her, it derails the train. She hasn't had time to think and reach a conclusion, so she freezes up and protests being put on the spot. She also doesn't like them expecting her to fix everything and always have an answer on hand. She needs to think. She has a massive amount of knowledge on a variety of subjects because she reads so much, and seems to have great comprehension and retention of the information. But the more you have, the more you need to go through; add to that, she's the type to get ahead of things in her head. She lays out a line of plans going into the future, but doesn't tell anyone without prompting. It's why she's so fun to read about; she has flaws, and they lead to silly instances. Especially since some of her flaws, she views as uncompromisable values. Like her strange priorities; family, inner circle, books, food, and then everything else is an annoying chore. It exasperates everyone who has to fill the gaps and care for her, but her warpaths always provide such intense benefits, they all relent in the end and do what they can to see her rambling brought to fruition.

She also does everything herself which makes the attendants assigned to her work twice as much than usual in order to be able to predict what their lady wants to do next instead of second-guessing as to what she might do next.
12:24 I like that Rozemyne consistently puzzled when she reads Elvira's romance scenes due to a cultural barrier. The best she can compare them to are Bollywood musical numbers where everyone breaks out into song and dance numbers during pivotal scenes.

But that's just it: It's not just science, but also believe, both in the sense of "I believe this is possible/I do not believe this is possible" and religious belief. I don't want to go into it too much since this'll be part of the upcoming plot in several ways, so I'll limit myself to examples from past volumes. -Ferdinand "knew" for certain that an exploded feystone is destroyed and can not be put back together. And yet Rozemyne was able to do it, because she "didn't know" this. -Ever noble "knew" that a Highbeast needs wings to fly and that knowledge was ankored so deeply in their subconsious, they couldn't make anything without wings fly. Both cases show that the frist step to make something happen with magic is believing that it can happen... or at least not believing that it's impossible. If you are convinced it is impossible, it won't work no matter how much you try. Or to use the words of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: Luke: "I don't believe this!" Yoda: "And that is why you fail."

In the middle class, she learned how to haggle with the merchants and nobles to not be looked down upon by their status. And lastly when she finally was a member of the noble society, she used everything that she has learned in all of the ruling classes and applied it into the nobility causing all kinds of important new trends, development, and also some collateral damage here and there.
@@Norbert_Sattler But that's the thing, the Gods in the Bookworm's world obviously influence/interfere with this world, making them testable. The scientific method can make Belief into Knowledge, just by formulating hypotheses and testing them, deriving Laws and constructing theories. Anecdotes and "common sense" are untestet claims, so Ferdinand "knowing" wrong things means that he has not testet "common knowledge" and just accepted it. The "freaky" things Myne does should have triggered enough curiosity to test some of those claims, but instead he went with "myne is unnatural" and stopped thinking about it. That's when I lost some of my respect for Ferdinand.

This story is a masterpiece of foreshadowing and use the Tchekhov gun exactly how it should. I really wondered how that invisible ink would be used in the story.
I thought it was the kiss that truly set Ferdinand off. Hand-holding is something that nobles might do under very rare circumstances while getting closer... but kissing? Yeah, that's absolutely reserved for late engagement or already married couples.
I hope they can continue the anime. Even just up to the ceremonial dance. That would be an awesome youtube material. Does miya kazuki have an actual dance for that?

Love the refresher content. ❤❤❤ It was mentioned in the highbeast class that the color of one's dyed feybeast stone is an indicator of not just ones mana prevalence but also how many elements they have. This is because dying a clear feystone changes its color to the color of your mana. The lighter the color the more elements. Rozyme has all 7 elements but she has a slight lean towards wind for both shutzaria and mestionara. So her mana is bright yellow almost gold. Wilfried's mana is slightly darker green as he has fewer elements with a lean towards water. Ferdinand is again an oddity as his mana is pearlescent white. Meaning he has all 7 with no lean to any element.
But the color of the highbeast has nothing to do with your own mana color, or at least you can change it if you want. Damuel highbeast is a white pegasus, despite him having a dark yellow color mana.
@@daedalron yes the caster can change the color of their high beast as seen later in the story. But the unmorphed stone is dyed the same color as the weilder's mana. Basically when they are flooding it with mana to change its shape they can morph it how they view it in their mind. But when they take their mana back it reverts into a colored feystone.

The author confirmed in fanbook 2 Q&A that Ferdinand doesn't have any bias towards any element: "His mana has all the elemental attributes, so it’s pretty much pure white like a pearl… but since there isn’t much bias for any one element, the color ends up pretty faint."
I think she already has, at least sort of. In the 3rd season of the anime (2nd half of part 2 for LNs.) Example 1: When they're rushing over to save her retainers in the carriage and she's raging Ferdinand tells her to pray to the wind goddess (name?), and she just makes up a spell of protection from that. Example 2: Her blessing to her family. There's no way that whole thing is in any book. It's just, gods bless my people, and it works.

Claudio is the one saying that. That's the word he uses in the inner monologue. As for nobles, I'm sure they probably consider it infidelity to make a wife raise a child not from her family as the wives generally don't associate and consider their lines separate. To the point marriage is permissible by half siblings from different mothers. I would assume to Claudio, it's like Karstedt dropping off a random girl on his wife and saying raise this kid. Which is basically what happened, but Claudio clearly doesn't consider Rozemary or Trudeliede as family, so it's infidelity in his eyes.

I love how theres always such depth in this story and even just the introspective on Georgine and how a reader might think she's incorrect about who's starting trends, BUT the reality is it doesnt matter to her, and her real goal was to undermine Rosemyne. Or even the early information about mana elements in even inks... which kinda feels like a "DUHHHHHH" moment but many people probably werent thinking it. Im really curious whats taking the next season tho... i feels like so much groundwork is already there. Is there an issue on who to have animate it now that its gettting big? Tbh, in around 32:50, I think it is pretty cut and dry who is completely at fault: Gabrielle. She literally only had to not force herself in and all of that would’ve never happened. Her assuring her father that she’s be treated well just shows how much she looked down on the Erenhest(?) nobles (she thinks they’d be grateful to have her)
that lion design on her clothes at he end of the vid is basically a copy of a Swedish region crest from västra götaland, its really cool to see inspiration from my home region so clearly. edit: also colour is the same aswell with the dark yellow kinda got me more hype than usual.
I thought Rozemyne had way more magic than Ferdinand. All the mana compression stuff she did, and aalll the super magic she does, I thought that meant she had more than anyone else? Is that not right? Why are her blessiings so strong then?
Rozemyne had more mana than Sylvester and was close to Ferdinand's mana before she tought them her 4 step program. After that, she probably still has about the same amount as Sylvester, but Ferdinand compressed so much, that he got mana hangover for days, so he's on a whole other level now. And for the blessings, well, she lacks control and puts a lot more mana in than other people would. I'm absolutely sure, every Archnoble and higher could produce the blessings, but none of them value commoners enough to actually spend the mana for that. These people learn to be frugal with their power, Rozemyne has no such thoughts, for her, mana is a ressource to be used.
@caligo When myne was a shrine maiden, she was already has more mana than sylvester. The reason why ferdinand has so much mana is because he was willing to push all boundaries of magic. Myne on the otherhand compressed her mana out of necessity. According to syl ferdiand and myne are the closest in mana compatibility, so i woulx assume she is right below or equal to ferdinand.

That's so much mana that an adult mednoble would have drained themselves completely to do this. Saving Charlotte put a capstone on her sainthood, almost sacrificing herself for her sister, her political enemy. She's been donating her mana since her shrine maiden times, but almost no noble gives a fuck about the temple and the necessary rituals. It only clicks, when she personally and directly helps that noble.
I think Wilfried seeing Rozemyne as being someone to aspire to and not a problem is probably the only thing I like(d) about him. He's not a bad guy, just not anyone worth giving a crap about. The fact that everyone around her sees the social, political, and economic golden goose as a problem really just makes it clear how horribly flawed their judgment is and really explains why they were a lower duchy before the civil war and stuck in the middle until she showed up.
Imagine if Rozemyne published her "smut" novel under a pseudonym... _with illustrations._ I'd feel sorry for whoever got put in charge of drawing the lewd hand-holding scenes, hands are extremely difficult to draw ^A^;
42:05 As a tradesman myself, I found this scene rather bothersome. I was waiting for someone to say that the smiths should have presented their typesets in individual boxes. This would provide 1 or 2 smiths as the local standard who could then start teaching the others their failures. As it sits, you have incompetents throwing their insults in with the those trying to prove themselves worthy, making the whole group of smiths look bad. I know the type who would try to pass off those insults, they need to make nothing but nails for ten years. They're the type who have tried their hand at the craft over several years, but cumulatively amount to less than a year, and will state they've been doing it for years and years and years. Johann is a master smith, full stop; that is why the Haldenzal smiths don't understand where he's coming from, they do other things during not-winter.

Wilford is 10 that’s the age you start at the Royal Academy. Rosemyne body is 11 years old. They lied about her age so they could do her noble baptism. I don’t know if you count the two years she slept or not. Mentally, she was somewhere between 22 and 25 when she died on earth. I don’t know if you stick with that number or add to it 🤷🏻♂️

First, my friend that I've been desperetly trying to get into Acendence Of A Bookworm is screaming in my DMs about how "This isn't Arts and Crafts the anime! Its Child Labor the anime!" He's already upset there isn't a season four anouncement and he just finished season two. Then I get a reminder on my phone that the next light novel comes out this wednesday. And finally, after a short conversation with my friend I refresh my recomendeds to find that this video has been uploaded. I'll stab who ever tries to ruin this day.
Prepub also comes out in a few hours so hurray!
Something I've noticed Kazuki-sensei does kind of frequently: when a bunch of people are discussing a difficult problem, if they all think that no one can solve it, Rozemyne thinks up a solution on the spot. If, however, they all turn to her saying that she'll be able to think of something, she freezes up and panics. I don't know if this is for characterization or narrative purposes, but it's pretty prevalent. And now I can't stop noticing it.
Also, does anyone else think that Willfried is a quintessential Himbo?
[It causes me physical pain when you pronounce words starting with 'w' in the English rather than Germanic fashion, btw. But Rozemyne is "by definition a weeb" - Genius!]
It's Rozemyne's character. She has a train of thought that follows no schedule. When she sits on the side listening, it throws the right switches in her brain. This leads her to pipe up with a solution, because it gives her time to come to one. But if people immediately expect answers from her, it derails the train. She hasn't had time to think and reach a conclusion, so she freezes up and protests being put on the spot. She also doesn't like them expecting her to fix everything and always have an answer on hand. She needs to think. She has a massive amount of knowledge on a variety of subjects because she reads so much, and seems to have great comprehension and retention of the information. But the more you have, the more you need to go through; add to that, she's the type to get ahead of things in her head. She lays out a line of plans going into the future, but doesn't tell anyone without prompting. It's why she's so fun to read about; she has flaws, and they lead to silly instances. Especially since some of her flaws, she views as uncompromisable values. Like her strange priorities; family, inner circle, books, food, and then everything else is an annoying chore. It exasperates everyone who has to fill the gaps and care for her, but her warpaths always provide such intense benefits, they all relent in the end and do what they can to see her rambling brought to fruition.
@@KitsunenoHibi This is pretty much my take too. Rozemyne doesn't seem to think that she's all that smart, despite the clear objective evidence to the contrary. So her brain short circuits when people expect her to display the brilliance of which she's clearly capable.

She already knows it in herself that she's a smart gremlin but you can't rely on her to fix your own problems because she wants herself not to become involved in it.
She also does everything herself which makes the attendants assigned to her work twice as much than usual in order to be able to predict what their lady wants to do next instead of second-guessing as to what she might do next.
12:24 I like that Rozemyne consistently puzzled when she reads Elvira's romance scenes due to a cultural barrier.
The best she can compare them to are Bollywood musical numbers where everyone breaks out into song and dance numbers during pivotal scenes.

Everyone except Rozemyne: How can this possible? There's no scientific explanation for this. It can only be magic.

But that's just it: It's not just science, but also believe, both in the sense of "I believe this is possible/I do not believe this is possible" and religious belief.
I don't want to go into it too much since this'll be part of the upcoming plot in several ways, so I'll limit myself to examples from past volumes.
-Ferdinand "knew" for certain that an exploded feystone is destroyed and can not be put back together. And yet Rozemyne was able to do it, because she "didn't know" this.
-Ever noble "knew" that a Highbeast needs wings to fly and that knowledge was ankored so deeply in their subconsious, they couldn't make anything without wings fly.
Both cases show that the frist step to make something happen with magic is believing that it can happen... or at least not believing that it's impossible. If you are convinced it is impossible, it won't work no matter how much you try.
Or to use the words of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back:
Luke: "I don't believe this!"
Yoda: "And that is why you fail."

Myne/Rozemyne was basically an amalgamation of all the class hierarchy put together.
In the lower class, she learned how to stand up on her own two feet to survive.
In the middle class, she learned how to haggle with the merchants and nobles to not be looked down upon by their status.
And lastly when she finally was a member of the noble society, she used everything that she has learned in all of the ruling classes and applied it into the nobility causing all kinds of important new trends, development, and also some collateral damage here and there.

@@Norbert_Sattler But that's the thing, the Gods in the Bookworm's world obviously influence/interfere with this world, making them testable. The scientific method can make Belief into Knowledge, just by formulating hypotheses and testing them, deriving Laws and constructing theories. Anecdotes and "common sense" are untestet claims, so Ferdinand "knowing" wrong things means that he has not testet "common knowledge" and just accepted it. The "freaky" things Myne does should have triggered enough curiosity to test some of those claims, but instead he went with "myne is unnatural" and stopped thinking about it. That's when I lost some of my respect for Ferdinand.

It was mentioned in the highbeast class that the color of one's dyed feybeast stone is an indicator of not just ones mana prevalence but also how many elements they have. This is because dying a clear feystone changes its color to the color of your mana.
The lighter the color the more elements.
Rozyme has all 7 elements but she has a slight lean towards wind for both shutzaria and mestionara. So her mana is bright yellow almost gold.
Wilfried's mana is slightly darker green as he has fewer elements with a lean towards water.
Ferdinand is again an oddity as his mana is pearlescent white. Meaning he has all 7 with no lean to any element.
But the color of the highbeast has nothing to do with your own mana color, or at least you can change it if you want. Damuel highbeast is a white pegasus, despite him having a dark yellow color mana.
@@daedalron yes the caster can change the color of their high beast as seen later in the story. But the unmorphed stone is dyed the same color as the weilder's mana.
Basically when they are flooding it with mana to change its shape they can morph it how they view it in their mind. But when they take their mana back it reverts into a colored feystone.
White is the colour of life, so ferdinand lean more to life element
I have a different interpretation to ferdinand's affinity. Perhaps his affinity is life, afterall the color of the god of life is white.

"His mana has all the elemental attributes, so it’s pretty much pure white like a pearl… but since there isn’t much bias for any one

I think she already has, at least sort of. In the 3rd season of the anime (2nd half of part 2 for LNs.)
Example 1: When they're rushing over to save her retainers in the carriage and she's raging Ferdinand tells her to pray to the wind goddess (name?), and she just makes up a spell of protection from that.
Example 2: Her blessing to her family. There's no way that whole thing is in any book. It's just, gods bless my people, and it works.

I wouldn't say Rozemyne being Rozemary's daughter counted as infidelity on Karstedt's part, Rozemary was his third wife after all.
Claudio is the one saying that. That's the word he uses in the inner monologue. As for nobles, I'm sure they probably consider it infidelity to make a wife raise a child not from her family as the wives generally don't associate and consider their lines separate. To the point marriage is permissible by half siblings from different mothers. I would assume to Claudio, it's like Karstedt dropping off a random girl on his wife and saying raise this kid. Which is basically what happened, but Claudio clearly doesn't consider Rozemary or Trudeliede as family, so it's infidelity in his eyes.
Not to mention that myne's conception had no involvement from him whatsoever lol!!!

@@xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx well I would be irritated in his place but I wouldn't necessarily automatically assume that she was the product of adultery In medieval times in our world in pretty much every country when someone found a kid on the street that had no one to turn to they could usually take them home and raise them as ones own children as simply as bringing home a stray cat or dog and claim it as one's own at least from a legal standpoint and Claudio should have been aware of that and in his shoes having been given what can be most generously described as a transparent excuse for why she was suddenly adopted as a member of the household coupled with how nobles in this world generally view commoners in this world and finally how cute and lovable myne is in his shoes I would prefer to assume at least ,until proven wrong that she was found in need of a home and was impulsively brought home and adopted much like a stray cat!!!

I love how theres always such depth in this story and even just the introspective on Georgine and how a reader might think she's incorrect about who's starting trends, BUT the reality is it doesnt matter to her, and her real goal was to undermine Rosemyne. Or even the early information about mana elements in even inks... which kinda feels like a "DUHHHHHH" moment but many people probably werent thinking it.
Im really curious whats taking the next season tho... i feels like so much groundwork is already there. Is there an issue on who to have animate it now that its gettting big? Is there a lack of interest in japan compared to us in the west???

Tbh, in around 32:50, I think it is pretty cut and dry who is completely at fault: Gabrielle. She literally only had to not force herself in and all of that would’ve never happened. Her assuring her father that she’s be treated well just shows how much she looked down on the Erenhest(?) nobles (she thinks they’d be grateful to have her)

I thought Rozemyne had way more magic than Ferdinand. All the mana compression stuff she did, and aalll the super magic she does, I thought that meant she had more than anyone else? Is that not right? Why are her blessiings so strong then?
Rozemyne had more mana than Sylvester and was close to Ferdinand's mana before she tought them her 4 step program. After that, she probably still has about the same amount as Sylvester, but Ferdinand compressed so much, that he got mana hangover for days, so he's on a whole other level now.
And for the blessings, well, she lacks control and puts a lot more mana in than other people would. I'm absolutely sure, every Archnoble and higher could produce the blessings, but none of them value commoners enough to actually spend the mana for that. These people learn to be frugal with their power, Rozemyne has no such thoughts, for her, mana is a ressource to be used.

When myne was a shrine maiden, she was already has more mana than sylvester. The reason why ferdinand has so much mana is because he was willing to push all boundaries of magic. Myne on the otherhand compressed her mana out of necessity. According to syl ferdiand and myne are the closest in mana compatibility, so i woulx assume she is right below or equal to ferdinand.

Rozemyne was basically viewed a saint by other nobles because of her endlessly donating her mana to everyone in Ehrenfest and she even made the Ehrenfest's gathering spot extremely rich and bountiful which made a lot of roaming feyplants and feybeasts a lot stronger and higher quality than usual.
@@xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx those things deepened the idea of her sainthood. It all started with blessing the whole palace at her baptism and her "concert". That's so much mana that an adult mednoble would have drained themselves completely to do this. Saving Charlotte put a capstone on her sainthood, almost sacrificing herself for her sister, her political enemy.
She's been donating her mana since her shrine maiden times, but almost no noble gives a fuck about the temple and the necessary rituals. It only clicks, when she personally and directly helps that noble.

I think Wilfried seeing Rozemyne as being someone to aspire to and not a problem is probably the only thing I like(d) about him. He's not a bad guy, just not anyone worth giving a crap about. The fact that everyone around her sees the social, political, and economic golden goose as a problem really just makes it clear how horribly flawed their judgment is and really explains why they were a lower duchy before the civil war and stuck in the middle until she showed up.
Imagine if Rozemyne published her "smut" novel under a pseudonym... _with illustrations._ I'd feel sorry for whoever got put in charge of drawing the lewd hand-holding scenes, hands are extremely difficult to draw ^A^;

As a tradesman myself, I found this scene rather bothersome. I was waiting for someone to say that the smiths should have presented their typesets in individual boxes. This would provide 1 or 2 smiths as the local standard who could then start teaching the others their failures. As it sits, you have incompetents throwing their insults in with the those trying to prove themselves worthy, making the whole group of smiths look bad.
I know the type who would try to pass off those insults, they need to make nothing but nails for ten years. They're the type who have tried their hand at the craft over several years, but cumulatively amount to less than a year, and will state they've been doing it for years and years and years. Johann is a master smith, full stop; that is why the Haldenzal smiths don't understand where he's coming from, they do other things during not-winter.
Speaking of lewdity, i love how AOB's world has fashion that is reflective of their conservative culture. Unlike other isekai anime that are full of fan service, the characters in AOB are dressed appropriately.

She's not even physically capable of entering puberty for 4-6 years. I mean, Wilfried is physically older (what, 12?) and isn't even ready to hear the birds and the bees yet and have it make sense.🤨
