I fly the same style with my ASW and keep her in the foam box for storage and transport. NX10 AR637T, Avian ESC, 2200 4S. Take her to the field when winds>20. Glad you didn’t hit the water like Brian Phillips did with the C182😂

@@victyber I swapped the stainless rods in the wing surfaces to carbon, and removed the wing plugs and replaced them with an extension so there's no chance of a bad connection.
I don't watch videos from Brian, they're too long and he's got nothing to teach me.

@@CR5rc I’ve extended the receiver plugs outside the fuselage too. I learned recently that counterbalancing ailerons will reduce flutter problems. Any weight in the ailerons will require more counterbalancing ahead of the hinge line. I’ve seen two Mystiques destroyed due to aileron flutter. Brian Phillips has to fly fast to show off but land slow in his driveway. His videos show me the speed range of new designs. He also shows his mistakes which you can avoid if you understand them. I did not know anything about his “Pilot Fatigue Switch” until I slowed down his speech and video. Somehow he had figured out a way to use the Avian reverse thrust function. I now use reverse thrust on most of my models. It helps with motorglider spot landings in terrain like yours where you want to belly land in a spot of grass.

@@victyber Reverse thrust on a moving plane usually disrupts the airflow over the tail surfaces enough to ruin any tail authority. I would not use reverse.
There are much easier and safer ways to slow down and land where you want. Best of which is to simply improve piloting skill but setting up your glider correctly will help it fly slower and using things like crow kills airspeed very well. You can see in my videos that this model can fly quite slowly and that I was actually carrying it in on the motor to make it to my landing area. I could have put it at my feet every time if I was concentrating.
Fly gliders without a motor for a while it really helps you with bringing them down where you want when you don't have a motor to go around and try again. I usually catch my DLG's and my Mefisto.
I'm not worried about weight in the ailerons, I don't plan to go up to 100m then point the nose down and I've never had an issue with any other plane that didn't have extra weight there. All I care about is the AUW and the lighter a glider is the better it flies.
I don't like Brian's videos, I watched his 980mm P-40 video and he was bouncing it all over the place on landings and blaming the plane, that was all pilot error (I have one of those and it doesn't bounce if you land correctly), I don't want to bash him here but I don't watch his videos anymore because of that and a few other reasons.

@@ksmith8019 It's not a thermal ship. It would need a very strong thermal to lift it. Advertised as a sports aerobatics glider.
When I'm not flying for the camera it climbs fast enough to do climb and coast flights of 15 minutes with a 4 minute motor run time.
