- Bob Dylan wrote this love song shortly after his girlfriend Suze Rotolo left for Italy. He shared it with John in his tiny New York city studio apartment in 1962. I first posted it on "The Shedd Studios" channel 8 years ago where it' now has over 100,000 views. The intro tells the story.
How transcendent and truly beautiful is that! The magic of human beings, able to traverse more than half a century and touch millions of lives through an anecdote of the heart and the panacea of a paean to love. Far out, far back, never too far....

wonderful John........it's not easy to sound so good as the years pass......there are singers who never had a classic singing voice, so their style could carry them into the later years singing beautifully..........You'll remember Vince Martin, voices like that are very hard to preserve, he wrote me once about getting up to sing in a Brooklyn restaurant/club, it was hard.....a great song, covered masterfully by you !!

I am at present reading Suze Rotolo's book A Freewheelin Time. It breaks your heart to read and hear the pain they suffered when separated. He in New York, she in Italy.
Bob's career became the driver of his life and Suze was an independent lady. When she came back they were together again for a while but it didn't last, but the song lives on.
