Eloquently painfully gracefully weepingly ineffably beautiful Maestro. Thanks so much for the upload, Mr Moth 🤗

Anyone who thinks Dylan isn't a great harmonica player should listen to the solo with which he starts this song. It establishes the gentle, wistful and reflective mood with which this version is imbued.
I am moved emotionally more than i have words to say listening to this. This song is a window into times and places and chances taken and lost in my own past. Tomorrow is a long time, but it always comes. The past is harder to find and hold on to.

yes to this. IMO his harmonica is just as expressive as his voice but goes otherworldly places vocals cannot, another way he pours his soul into his music. I can only think people who put down his harp playing are like people who criticize his voice, not listening for what's coming through the music.

Dylan was especially proud, rightly so, that as a new young musician, Elvis Presley did a lovely version of this song

Someone said in an interview that Bob was very proud of this when he first wrote it and it was referring to Suze Rotolo...she must have been something special. RIP Suze

She was the girl on the cover, and later an artist, with plenty of her own accomplishments. She was much more political than Dylan, and if they had stayed together my guess is he would have gone more in that direction.

He won the the Nobel prize for lititure. There's 2 vacant spots. Number 1 and number 2. Everyone else gets grouped together. 1 bob dylan, 2 Paul McCarthy.

As far as being a singer , Bob Dylan is a great song writer . Check out Judy Collins singing this song , and see what great singing does for a great song .

Such “great singing” and voices are utterly commonplace and interchangeable. They can be found as easily as picking someone at random from the average gospel group, and bought in the thousands from random record stores… Dylan’s voice cannot be found or bought anywhere. It's so unique. To paraphrase a great artist, his singing may not be “academically correct”, but we like it precisely because it is extra-academic.

Dylan told , who was once his girl, Joan baez, that her poetry was poor. But Joan baez sang 14 songs at Woodstock, more than anyone else there. I thought they would have made a good couple.

Baez is on record saying she used to retrieve Bobs throwaway songs from the garbage and record them. Percys song and love is just a four letter word are 2 of them.

@@mrjasondylan that doesn't makw her a bad poet. She has enough songs to establish her as one of the very best. And more important than that, she's a genuinely good person with a heart of gold.
Let's not forget who got Dylan on the folk scene too!
