Madonna was the soundtrack of my youth. It couldn't be helped if you grew up in the 80s❤️❤️
Agree 100% Madonna was everything to me back then
Every teen girl in the 80s wanted to look like her. There were lots of look-alikes in the malls.
"Borderline" was the single from Madonna's debut album that broke big and turned her into a star in the US back in 1983. The follow up to it was "Lucky Star" which also zoomed to the top of the charts back then. I was in high school at the time and I remember how all the girls changed their fashion sense overnight in an effort to look like her -- rolled up jeans, penny loafers, short socks, lots of bracelets, loose fitting sweaters, and that hair style tied up around the middle like that. "Holiday" was another single from that album I remember from back then. Madonna was never my cup of tea, musically, but the guitar parts in "Lucky Star" still hold up well all these years later. "Secret", from 1994, also features some nice guitar work.
Burning up and Dress You Up has some nice guitar parts, as well.
Borderline only hit #10.
Who would have thought this girl was going to become a legend back in 1983? I thought she was going to be a one or two hit wonder and be gone in 3 years. Boy was i wrong.
@@michaelasay8587 Yes, well, breaking into the top ten was a big deal in 1983.
we went from olivia newton john's headbands and legwarmers to madonna wannabe's everywhere... lace gloves tons of colorful rubber bracelets up both arms... big floppy bows and SO MUCH LACE lol
It’s just a lovely song and displays a lyrical innocence Madonna didn’t touch again! Just a melodic hopeful song to try to convince someone who’s not into you to be into you! I adore that combination of Madonna’s pleading and the backing vocalists at 5.20. Love it. Love the video. Love this Madonna era as it largely had her better songs.
I was a tween when Madonna started and of course growing up listening to her and watching her It was so amazing to see her constant transformation and see this is why Madonna is such a bad ass because she did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it she had different characters throughout the decades her Dita Character in the 90s was my favorite Madonna!
Love 80's Madonna! 💯
This was Madonna's first hit around 1984. I remember I first heard the song on the radio and thought it was a black artist who had the same voice back then. Not until MTV did you see who this new comer was. My best friend just loved this song and kept playing it on the drive to school. That is my personal experience.
Her first hit was Lucky Star ✨, then Borderline I believe 😀 lol 😊...
On June 16, 1984, “Boderline” was the second single from Madonna's self-titled debut album became her first top 10 on the chart.Jun 16, 2015. "Lucky Star" served as the album's fifth and final single after the release of "Borderline".
Yeah, I remember that we all thought she was a black singer. I think it was Holiday that was playing on the radio before we saw any of her videos.
@@rhondamcbath6279 no I think it was...Burning up for you're love...that I hope they do sometime ..they'll be dancing outta their chairs....
@@rhondamcbath6279 In the USA Borderline was released before Lucky Star in 84 for both singles.
Borderline is one of my favorite Songs by her and the Video shows off a Innocence about her before she became more risque".
This might be her greatest song: a feel-good tune that puts you back in your youth. I love watching you all groove to these old hits from the archives!
I remember the first time I heard this in middle school! A whole new world opened up - this era of Madonna was world changing and she just kept going. 🔥🌟🫶
Madonna has always been a beautiful fashion plate, just like Cher. Both women known by one name, both with female voices at the top of modern music. 2 of the greatest ever.
She had 38 top 10 hits and12 number ones, she cranked out hits for 25 years. I would do VOGUE or LIKE A PRAYER thanks guys!!
Almost 30 years between her first top in 1983 to her most recent in 2012 she still has #1 albums though, her last album debuted at #1 in 2019
Yo Shawn and Mel. Thiscwas a period when Madonna was lining up hits WITH PRINCE, LUTHER VANDROSS, MICHAEL JACKSON, ANITA BAKER, WHAM, DAVID BOWIE, ETC. SHE WAS "STRAIGHT KICKIN ASS" WITH THE CROSSOVER GROOVES FROM BLOCK PARTIES, ROLLERSKATING RINKS, GRADUATIONS, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS, ETC. THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM HER! KEEPIN IT 100!😎✌️😁
She was so young and beautiful.
I didn't know how great this song really was until many years later, when i matured and had a better appreciation for music.
Classic! She did a Live rock version of Borderline that is pretty awesome too!
Everybody" "La Isla Bonita" Lucky Star" "Causing A Commotion" Who's That Girl" "Holiday" "Angel" Justify My Love" "Dress You Up" live To Tell" Vogue" Get Into The Groove" "Like a Prayer" just to name a few! she is so amazing!
Why did you leave out all her 90s and 2000s hits like Take a Bow, Frozen, Music, Don't Tell Me, Die Another Day, Hung Up (her biggest hot worldwide of her career in 2005), 4 Minutes etc
@@samuelosler1994 or "Express Yourself", "Crazy For You", "Rain", "Ray of Light", "Beautiful Stranger"...
"Holiday" - Madonna one of her first hits
One of her first big hits, love this song. She had one hit movie early in her career
Desperately Seeking Susan
Omg yes! Me and my friends saw it at the theater SO many times, and copied her outfits.
She had a lot of hit movies in the 90s, Dick Tracy, Evita, A League of Their Own, Truth or Dare etc
She also nailed a hit song from that same movie: "Into The Groove".
This is one of my favorite songs by Madonna, before she became a superstar, she was still young and hungry!!❤️❤️
There are so many great songs and videos from Madonna. Anything from the 80’s are fantastic. Always been a huge fan. And this is one of my favorite songs of hers. The video is so nostalgic for me
Borderline is of my favourite songs.
I have this and 3 other of her videos on a VCR tape! I paid $65 for it in 1984 from a video store, before the rental places....lol
So cool, i have the movie. "WHO'S THAT GIR"... I think she was dating Sean Penn at the time .
3:58 him taking that shot w/her in the doorway was quite subliminally suggestive, lol. They knew what they were doing.
I consider myself a ROUGH-NECK,from Philly, but I really like Madonna's music from the 80s,nice beats, nice dance tracks and head boobing tunes.Gets the blood pumping and makes you wanna dance, even if you can't. LOL.
Queen of Pop 🤩
Y’all emotional reaction was everything because I feel the same way listening. Strong song.
Not ashamed its been on my playlist for 30 years
My two locos!! This is my favorite song from Madonna. Gracias!! Arriyba!!!
Watching this reaction video and watching her video literally brings me back to the very first day that I saw this video come out back in the day brought me back so many memories of my life back then. It was such a great time growing up in the 80s so many amazing memories so much amazing music. I feel very blessed that I was able to grow up during this time. I was born January 19 70 and I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing so much music so many genres just really amazing time to grow up.
Mel and Shawn...ya gotta do...Burning up for you're love! You'll be dancing outta yr chairs! I can't wait!!!
Remember when this song came out.
Right around the time I met my husband. Fell in love with Madge.
we went from olivia newton john's headbands and legwarmers to madonna wannabe's everywhere... lace gloves tons of colorful rubber bracelets up both arms... big floppy bows and SO MUCH LACE lol

Her song Everybody is good also first song she did
I remember when she came and performed holiday on top of the pops which was THEE music show in the UK.loved the all black look short leggings under mini skirt, vest top with baggy mesh top over it lace gloves hair ribbon lots of bangles.
Classic melodic 80s Pop from 25 year old Madonna at the time, still sounding good today. Timeless music.
One of her top 3 songs with Holiday and Lucky Star!!
Madonna made it cool to have dark roots. Before that they used to make fun because your roots were different color than the rest of your hair.
The Queen of Pop❤
just listined to this on the intersate in Milwaukee at 120 . Just like I remembered.
Love this vibe...my high-school days
the 12" version of this has an extra verse, as well as cowbell.. 80's Madonna is really incredible
I'd love to see you react to my favorite Madonna..."Crazy For You". Oh...and "Express Yourself".
It may be one of her oldest but still one of her best. Blows my mind to think that song is nearly 40 years old 🤯💚
I was so over-the-top in love with Madonna in 1984 when I was 12 years old. Oh my God she was the hottest thing in the freaking world!!
From Madonna, I love GAMBLER, ANGEL, INTO THE GROOVE, CANDY PERFUME GIRL, BEDTIME STORY, WHAT IT FEELS LIKE (FOR A GIRL). Here are some gems you might like --> Pump Up The Jam (Technotronic), Point Of No Return (Exposé), Pop Life (Prince), and if you enjoy french music --> C'est Comme Ça (Les Rita Mitsouko), Toute Première Fois (Jeanne Mas), Tombé Pour La France (Étienne Daho), Des Fleurs Pour Salinger (Indochine). Yes yes yes more Madonna please
You seem like such a sweet and genuine couple, why haven't I seen you sooner? Oh well, glad to have stumbled across you now, better late than never :)
Brought the phrase "Madonna wannabes" (stylistically) into the parlance of the time. Dozens, everywhere you looked. lmdao. Icon, yeah. Formative part of many young women's growth and awakening of one sort or another. For a left-field take on the phenom taken another way altogether, check out Robyn Hitchcock's 'Madonna of the Wasps'...I probably always read it, mistakenly or not as 'WASPs', lol
Hustla’s in the 80’s use to come thru banging this…
this is early early madonna, my favorite song along with lucky star
Madonna 👑 😍❤️👍
In the 80s we all copied this look of Madonna's!!! My fave by her!
Like A Virgin and Shining Star are two great ones from that era in her career.
Lucky Star is the next song you should watch. It’s the penultimate Madonna song. 😁❤️
Love this era of Madonna, not so much after
♥️ THIS !
I used to love this song. Had the 45 of this and "Lucky Star" cassette of the album they came from 😀
The Queen 👑
More Madonna 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
React to Madonna "Secret" ❤
I can't say how much I love when you guys play 80's and Madonna ✨🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Awesome
38 years later & this is still an amazing tune. Wish they'd remix it & do a Kygo/Whitney or Elton mash up to get her back at the top of the charts. This is such an infectious, summery tune.
*used to watch this on "U-68" as a teen since i didnt have cable at that time... this song confirmed her presence in the industry. great memory! waited for this vid to come on!*
This was the first Madonna song that I heard. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. ❤✌
1983. Her first album.
Everybody / Burning up / Holiday / Lucky star are her singles before this one.
You guys definitely need to do Lisa Lisa n Cult Jams "Take me home"!!! My joint!
Check out Sooner or Later live at the Academy Awards for a killer vocal performance!!
This has always been my favorite Madonna song and music video.
Beautiful couple
OMG yes! This was the first video I ever saw of hers, and her style really influenced me and really all of fashion for a lot of young women from that day forward, even designers. The next year, my Spring Formal dress was black with black and white with a striped bow, very much like the hat she wears at the end of the video. Everybody wanted to dress like her, and we did, right down to the rosaries and bracelets we wore with our fingerless black lace gloves. Madonna was everything!
This was her 3rd hit song from her first album in 1983. Her first 2 songs that hit were Everybody and Holiday. Lucky Star hit after Borderline.
Burnin Up for Your Love from this album is a great song for you to check out
Long time I've seen this video, brings back memories!!
Thx for reacting 🎤🎶💜
shout out to the background vocals
Thank you so much for a Madonna reaction, hope to see more of her 💗 💫

The first single I bought with my pocket money!! Still love it today.😀
To me the best classic Madonna's look and sound is "Get into the Groove". That vibe hit the clubs and the girls went crazy
Celebration is the best. Dirrrty grooved
Lucky star, secret, human nature, crave so many good songs to react to
Crazy for you do a reaction on that one
