I had an idea with Antonidas back when Showdown in the Badlands came out. So, throw Antonidas in the E.T.C., get Tae'thelan, and by turn 8, maybe 7 go: Tae'thelan -> Antonidas -> Apprentice -> Ha HA! Apprentice you can either get off on Brann with E.T.C. or just Mana Biscuit... probably Mana Biscuit. In theory, if HS code doesn't go wet noodles, Tae'thelan should reduce Fireball to 1 and Apprentice to 0 due to play order. I never tested it since I'm not sure about crafting an Antonidas but it's been on my mind ever since I unpacked Tae'thelan (Which was literally useless since most Mage spells in Standart we're alredy low cost anyways).
It was a meta strategy in badlands in duels for Reno deck, where you would get both antonidas and apprentice from etc by shadowstepping it after you run out of secrets :)
I made the deck below using your idea, won a game on my third try, the list probably could be improved (right now it's about generating as many ice blocks as you possibly can) but yeah the core idea works and it's pretty fun as far as the exodia stuff goes. It might also be more fun and maybe even straight up better to run this in a reno package as the core package is only 3 unique cards anyway (bloodwatcher, etc, brann). If you want to win more games though, I'm 100% sure the quest version is superior to this idea no matter how you build it. deck code: AAEBAdjhBgiFF8W4A9TqA+WwBISyBKneBP3EBfibBgvAAcsEn5sD9KsD0ewDrvcDyt4E4MMF7PYF1pgGhuYGAAED5gT9xAW4CP3EBYS7Av3EBQAA
Just wanted to comment and say I 100% agree with the BM discussion at the end. Another example of this is when I've shown my opponent lethal, but I pass and give them a turn because I have something super flashy for next turn and I'd rather risk a small chance of losing to win with that for the payoff of the cool thing rather than just hitting them with some minions. I'm thinking especially of Rainbow DK, where often by the time I had CNE I could already kill them on board, but I passed the turn because I just want to see and hear the cool animation for CNE.
The issue it has for the reasoning at the end feels like it could be applied to taking all your actions and roping not to tilt your opponent, but because you want to maximize your gametime for XP, or time to handle tasks. Theres an argument that it could force a concede you wouldnt have gotten otherwise, but you dont know if it's a distracted player. And thats what it feels is the big thing. It is valid to say 'i shouldnt tweak my play experience just to account if my opponent is getting tilted by this', but its also valid to say 'the reasons you do these things dont matter when they are on the receiving end, because they cant read your mind. In a similar corollary, the person choosing to let you combo off and take your win hit is being courteous to respect your effort, and theres an argument would be mutually respecting their time with that. But really its all a delicate balance, too much BM adjacent stuff, and the people willing to let you do your fun might go down.
Well the xp argument would require ignorance, thats not efficient. If youre roping to think about future turns, sure, take that time. If youre roping to run to the bathroom, sure, people do that. If youre roping to irritate your opponent into playing worse I think that sucks. If someone is being courteous to let me have my fun, thats their choice and Im gonna have my fun. I am in control of one persons experience, and Im not going to make that persons experience worse just because my opponent could maybe possibly be bothered by it, especially when they have an instant out whenever they want. Doing silly things in video games is part of the joy of playing. This is a pvp game, so anything I do is at my opponents expense, they opt into that when they choose to play. Im not gonna play this goofy, random game like a stale robot for arbitrary, hypothetical reasons.
You guys remember the OTK quest mage that used violet illusionist, archmage vargoth, drakkari enchanter, and research project to kill the opponent with fatigue damage?
I found this version always better to be honest. This are just two turns and opponent is death. The other version was like shudderwock, the same turn over and over again which is totally annoying. I still miss the good old days where this combo was something special and not easy to pull off. You also weren’t able to play this before t10. But as you can see opponents won‘t let you play till t10 and below nowadays. So no wonder this deck has to be extremely fast, too.
After playing this deck for like 20 game i ran sanctum chandelier instead of stargazer luna for the ignite combo since you can also run dinner performer which is yourr 3rd copy of sorc to start the combo. the demerit is that you cant run finley so not sure which way to build it is better.
2 things. 1) can you fill an etc in your non-etc deck on the chance you generate an etc? 2) im gonna put yhat 6/6/6 in my meme charge priest deck. Its like big priest, but charge minions like charged devilsaur since the essence and rezzed copies didnt start in my deck
Martian do you maybe have some wild highlander palladin games recorded to post here or on vod chanell? It seems fun and Im wondering if its worth crafting and i want to see how it copes in recent meta
@baymain2703 its probably still good at what it does. I dont know that I can say I recommend it necessarily. Its kinda expensive and new expansion just around the corner.
Why is sorcerer's apprentice 4 mana while radiant elemental is 2? Priest has better card draw, minion copy spell, minion or spell specific draw spell so you can copy/find your combo piece faster and insurance against dirty rat.
@@MartianBuu do they? The cleric was it and many cheap heals and 1 mana draw while overhealing is better to me. Also that overheal deal 5 random damage is better or so I think especially if you happen to reduce its cost. Well if Buu says so, I guess I might be mistaken
Luna and Chandler specifically led to the nerf. Cleric banned in Wild. Edit: Sorry, Clergy is banned. Did you mean Northshire? Harder to draw with and stuff to draw into is weaker. Radiant is also a good card and lots of people want it to get the same treatment.

@shocknawe raza priest. Polkelt made it so you found raza and anduin faster and more consistently, and Spawn of Shadows cost 4 back then so you drew it once combo was online. Turn 9 lethal was common/expected.

I am actually retracting all of my judgy comments about Marshies Fireball Fun and think it’s not BM at all. If this was played on paper across from a human opponent, Marshie would play his sorcs, take his extra turn, play Antonidas and say “and now I have infinite fireballs, GG.” It’s not Marshies fault that the game client makes him lethal the opponent, and the opponent can certainly concede at any time. It’s not like there are any outs for them. Keep up the great work, Marshie! ❤
My hot take is this deck shouldn't exist as it is. I don't like infinite loops into win the game. At least with Exodia in yugioh you have to sort of build draw to get to it and are punished for doing so becuase the game is wildly fast; or you CAN get absurdly lucky and draw all 5 pieces on turn 1 but at that point you won because you gambled not because an "Extra Turn" card exists. This needs to be way, way harder to pull off.
You build draw to get into this, I dont think the Yugioh comparison makes much sense tbh. Sure, fast combos are more acceptable in fast games, but Wild Hearthstone is pretty fast and this deck is vulnerable to lots of strategies. Not as fast as Yugioh, but this deck doesnt play at Yugioh speeds. If theres an issue with this deck its not the Quest at this point. The better version of it that plays Ignite doesnt actually need the quest for anything. I dont disagree that this should be harder, but Wild has much bigger problems than Quest Mage now, and it would take a concerted effort to improve it that is not coming. So… Im just trying to take it for what it is at this point.
I mean, it's just combo. First of, Exodia was never good. Like, in YuGiOh, of you would show up to anything, ever, with an Exodia list, people would laugh you out the shop. Even at the time of no expansion base game. As you said, it's just a gamble. And YuGiOh is an absurdly fast game. If you don't setup your win on turn 1 you loose on turn 2. It's fascinating but also crazy. Secondly: As I said. It's combo. That's how it works. I get that the whole "your opponent played solitare and suddenly the game is over." vibe can feel kinda stinky. And if you don't like it, fair enough. It's there to counter control tho. Without combo control would win every game. It's a healthy part of the meta-game. And this combo is no different to, say a Uther Paladin summoning all 4 horesman on the same turn. Or a miracle rouge going off. It's all the same thing. They gather all the cards they need to end the game, and then they end the game. You have a short amount of time, usually 3-5 turns in HS, to kill a deck that has *very* limited options to stop you. And if you can't, they win. Thems the breaks. How is it fair that an agroo deck can vomit all their cards out in two turns and flat-out kill you? How is it fair a control deck can kill every card you ever play and stall you to oblivion? Just all part of the greater whole. Have a good one.
@MartianBuu I just thought of the solution and it applies to most things. The universal change: But never less than (1). The fact you don't pay to do something in the card game is wild.
