Great documentary (thanks for this); my only qualm is that the section where you note Ramesses' construction works at Saqqara is slightly erroneous; the Serapeum was not a Temple of Serapis at this time (as Serapis is a later Hellenistic syncretic deity) but at the time was a place for the Apis bull or wsjr-ḥp/Osiris-Apis - Serapis is later conflated with this deity (as well as Osiris and others) so the mistake is understandable. The highest estimates is that the Egyptians lived until 45, which would have been AMAZING to the Greeks/Romans, who only lived to 25.
The Egyptians ate well due to the immense productivity of the Nile River. In Roman times they produced so much surplus that it was sufficient to help feed a million Romans. In anycase Ramesses lifespan was extraordinary

The research of which Pharoah is in exodus is facinating. There's a good case for an earlier pharaoh, based on how the hyksos invade after the famine, the memory of what the hykos did causing racism and enslavement, and note your mention of the couple of pre-ramesese kings who seemed to build less. There is also a pharaoh mentioned in the time of the Israelite Kings, which can aide a time hypothesis. Akhenaten is a possible post-israel pharaoh, who saw what the israelite god did and wanted to turn the people towards that god, using the best diety proxy available. And i think theres also something about how the 18th dynasty started or Akenaten himself, being not the firstborn of the previous pharaoh. And finally, the Babylonia/medes rise must join Israel's history. The temple rebuild is dated, and can help guide researchers. It's all facinating.
Not facinating at all which one the writers of a fairytale chose to include in their fairytale story. There is no historical evidence that THE israelites where ever enslaved nor set free in Egypt. None. The egypt writings also dont mention any god or any plagues that lead to the freeing of people which weren't there in the first place. It's a fairytale book.
No he wasn't. Egyptian writings never mentioned a flood that drowned everybody. Also the Chinese never mentioned it and lived on. The bible is a fairytale book@@Thisfutureman
@@ThisfuturemanExodus only says the “army of pharaoh” was drowned, not the pharaoh himself. The movie Ten Commandments accounts for this by having Pharoah stand back and watch while he sends his army into the midst of the waters

Ramesses didn't die of drowing and for all respect to Koran, but it can't be historical source about Ramesses life. It was written ntwo thousand years after he died.
Maurice Bucaille was the professor who auscultated the mummy of Ramses 2 in Paris. He went to the great mosque in Cairo to discuss with the Imam, he converted to Islam Al hamdulillah
Seti I was probably the best father EVER! For a start, he made his son regent, provided him with a palace to suit his status as crown prince and regent. But, best of all, he also gave him a harem. Ramses was still a teen at the time, I believe. Imagine, you're barely out of your teen years and your dad matter-of-factly gives you a harem as a 'gift'?! Like I said, best father EVER! 🤣🤣🤣
@@charlottebruce979 May have? If you have any factual evidence, then I'm all ears. Otherwise, it's all conjecture. Did some royal Egyptians marry their sisters on occasion? Yes. That is a fact, backed up with proof. Let's go a step further and ask would a royal princess be placed in the harem of their brother? I doubt it. It wasn't their function in Egyptian society. Finally, let me point I told a light-hearted joke about a historical figure who was alive just over 3000 years ago. A joke. Like, what teen wouldn't want that? Would I make the same joke if it happened in our modern society? Absolutely not. It was a different time, with different standards. I can't look upon ancient history with modern eyes and pass judgement based on my standards. But, I can make a joke, without judgement. Have a great day.
@Duncan Disorderly Many historical facts are conjecture. You have to use logical conclusions in many cases based on how a society functions. Tutankhamuns mother, possibly Kia, Akhenatens wife and sister, would have been placed in a harem along with his other wives. Royal harems were not just for concubines. These royal harems would have included Egyptian women and their children, and large numbers of foreigners married by the Egyptian king in order to establish diplomatic links outside of Egypt. So, not the sexual free for all you were hoping for, but women of high standing and kids too.
@@charlottebruce979 There's a distinct difference between a harem of royal wives, mothers and sisters, in comparison to a harem of woman for pleasure alone. My hopes for a sexual free for all? I don't recall expressing my hopes on the topic, apart from making a joke. A joke isn't about hopes, it's about a light-hearted laugh. Clearly, you're taking this far too seriously and jumping to wild, baseless, conclusions. This would also suggest why you see conjecture as a fact. It appears you want to debate the topic. I'm sorry, I don't wish to debate what was meant as a joke and won't continue replying. Good-bye.
People lack knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians, as they lasted for 3000 years. That's a longer time between the birth of Jesus until today; it puts things in perspective as to how powerful and successful Ancient Egypt was.
@@ashiinsane90 No. I think the commercialised Hollywood is far away from the actual historical truth about the Ramesses lineage. But from listening to various Historical scholars and egyptologists it gives that image that there is something dark lurking over there. And ofcourse there is the Ozzymandiaz poem by Percy...so. Not making final claims but there is plenty to be Unearthed about the past Civilizations that are in ruins today of which we know diddly squat.
Ramses II is particularly interesting to me for many reasons. Firstly. We share similar names (Ramsay) and secondly his proclamation of greatness from the very beginning of his reign. Similarly to US and Russia, Egypt and the Hittites were antagonists for over 2 centuries. They had several skirmishes throughout the time. But Ramses wanted to bring it to an end.
That wasn't his name that's the name the Greeks have him centuries after his death , Egypt wasn't even a word know to the Ancient Egyptians the land was known to them as Kemet , and they called themselves the kemetu even all the the cites where renamed into Greek names

I’m actually a descendant of Rameses III. It’s amazing how the resemblance between me and another descendant are very similar to Rameses. This information would’ve been great in elementary school when I had to do biographies on famous people.
I certainly concur 100% but Ahkenathen's reign lasted only 17 to 17.5 years, not enough to put a dent in a civilization that pre-dated him for more than 1,747 years, he tried hard though, but moving the capital away from Thebes to Amarna and worshipping the Sun Aten must have been a pain in the gluteus maximus for every person that had to follow him. when Tut came into power he immediately restored back all the O'l gods and gave the priesthood their positions once again, Amarna did not last.
@Alain Delon I know I know. But you can see the ripples that it caused in Egypt, even if his son restored the old gods. Just musing on the number of times Akhenaten was mentioned in the video.

And what of Nefertiti? I’m fortunate to know her details and like every good king there’s a far more formidable Queen and Goddess behind him. Arkenarten took the Lion’s share of the monotheistic concept, but Nefertiti was the first person to come up with this concept. And in doing so one could, and I dearly do see the Queen and Faroe as the Very First Daughter Of the one God. Fascinating video! While I agree that his fame has contributed to a lot of the speculation about him being the pharoah of the Exodus, I also with the Merneptah stele (made by his successor) appearing to mention Israel.
The Exodus has been thoroughly debunked and no scholars worth their degree buy into it.They have never found any chariots, horse skeletons, remains of Egyptian soldiers,or weapons etc in the red sea.Even William Dever dismissed it decades ago and the lack of written evidence not to mention material evidence is astounding

Yup, Ramases had a big hook nose. He had over 100 kids. Today, he must have millions of descendants. So anyone with a big hookey... You could well be descendants of the mighty Ramases.
Ancient Egypt is my favourite period of time. they were clever, sophisticated, organised, and stunningly beautiful people. At the same time, in Britain, where I come from, we were living in primative dwellings and did not have a systematic form of government. You can not compare the two.
Rameses was supposedly my distant ancestor via my maternal grandfather Capell's paternal early lineage. One of my Capell ancestors married the daughter of the Earl of ArundeI. The House of Arundel are descendants of Rameses. I made this discovery years ago when studying my mother's family genealogy. As someone who lived to the unheard-of age of 91, Ramesses indeed would have seemed like a god in the eyes of the average Egyptian.
His age is awesome but you've got to remember that when you hear got the average age was around 40 you've got to remember that half of all humans born died before their first birthday and that greatly excuses the statistic if you lived past your first birthday the average age was about 65

Keep up the great work lads!

@@Taharqo.saved.the.Hebrew They had longer lifespans than others at the time, but it’s not like it was anywhere near ours, and CERTAINLY not as long as Rameses at 91.

Evacrevasa
Not facinating at all which one the writers of a fairytale chose to include in their fairytale story. There is no historical evidence that THE israelites where ever enslaved nor set free in Egypt. None. The egypt writings also dont mention any god or any plagues that lead to the freeing of people which weren't there in the first place. It's a fairytale book.
This cant be the the pharao of the bible and jews, he was drowned
No he wasn't. Egyptian writings never mentioned a flood that drowned everybody. Also the Chinese never mentioned it and lived on. The bible is a fairytale book@@Thisfutureman

Hello, where can I get the books with some of these histories.
Not great for the women, though, and some of them may have been his own sisters.
🤣🤣🤣

We know Rameses' genetic markers by the way.

Tut's dad really messed up Egypt's flow.
@@RobbyL 😆 Yeap Robby, some things never die indeed. BTW everyone makes a case for Rameses prowesses, but he was more of a great builder and pr man for his own glory, even his only big battle against the Hittites ended up with an impasse.

And what of Nefertiti? I’m fortunate to know her details and like every good king there’s a far more formidable Queen and Goddess behind him. And in doing so one could, and I dearly do see the Queen and Faroe as the Very First Daughter Of the one God.
