Now! This right here is just one of the reasons I watch these tips and tricks when I can. I never thought of this technique. For the past 5 years I have been relearning and learning new techniques in order to get back into the woods after an accident took out a large portion of the right side usage and failed surgery left the left arm mainly usless! Yep! Slight mess but many are in worse shape. As always, Adapt, Overcome and Thrive..... Thank you Blackie for taking from your time to pass on these tips and tricks. God Bless
Add another small one to one end tying it in 90 degrees of the first one and you have a pack rack or mule pack to carry a load just add support to outside edges to keep bottom from flipping down past the horizontal plane on the bottom smaller panel then fashion a shoulder strap for each side of the longer vertical panel and your done making an external pack frame or load carrier. Thanks Blackie! I now can make my own from wood I choose and separate when done in the woods! Without seeing this, I would have never thought about this as a tool in the woods that can be used also in the ways you mentioned as well! Hot Damn, learned something new today! Thank you sir! Love your tutorials!
This is smart stuff, beautiful complexity in simplicity, just like real nature! Thanks for the vid :) watched it 2x, and I think I will come back and watch it one last time just so it's IMPRINTED permanently on my memory...really one of my favorite basic bushcraft vids yet!
Two thumbs up. A great way to start my weekend. I'll put this technique to use this weekend. Keep up the good work. Knowledge is king, it doesn't add any weight to my pack.
That's fantastic Blackie! and so simple, even I can remember that! Thanks so much. There's a lot of knots I haven't learned yet even though I've been camping for about 40 years now. (I should be ashamed of myself). Have a great Memorial weekend, take care. 👍
Hi you have just given me the answer to my door issue thankyou these golden nuggets are muchly appreciated small skill many adaptable uses awesome 👍❤️💪
Gotta say, that was a very handy technique to add to my arsenal! Really, really one to file away. Since you asked for ideas, have you ever done any primitive fish hook videos using fish or bird bones, wood or Hawthorn or Locust thorns? That would be something to see demonstrated in real life.
I’ve got to collect some things for scouts to do during summer camp soon. I’ve been going over knots with them but they don’t seem to have much interest. Your video today is great and I have a feeling that it will stir a lot of interest with the scouts once they see that they can do something constructive with it all! Many thanks!!!
Blackie, Outstanding Video the way you take the time to show how to do projects . Thank You for sharing your knowledge. You are a Master Woodsman. Tim L.
Great demonstration on how to construct a platform. I can see using several of these around my camp. I really like the idea of recovering your cordage when your finished with the platform. It may seem like a little thing, but an example of good management if your resources. Useful for another day. Thanks for sharing. - Tennessee Smoky
@@robslagle saw that build. Shawn does a lot of stuff totally out of the box. I have built "the swing", my wife called it. Some of the shelters he builds though are way past my energy level or at least take more energy than I am willing to do. But he is a lot younger than me.
me to i would to the proper lash and then when i was leaving camp it was a hassle to get it back and all i got was odd length bits ..this way that loop will be used many times and many ways
I wanna see you weave a boat cover out of 26,000 8-inch pieces of "reclaimed" cordage. Seriously though, I love this table plan. Gonna do that this weekend. But I would like to see your "reclaimed" cordage collection.
Great idea. And you are right that everyone barrows from others. But does anyone use a floor lashing? I think that would work well here. Along with conservation of cordage.
Another great video Blackie... I would really like to see you make fire using the fire plow method.. just something different I don’t see done very much... I have asked several of the “big name bushcrafters” and none of them have taken up the challenge... I understand it’s a tough method to do... but that’s why I’m asking... thank you in advance
i have done the fire plow..but to be honest in my area with such high humidity most friction fire methods have a tough time keeping any kind of coal alive..i will think about your challenge
Blackie, I have been watching you for the last 10 or so years, and I’ve seen you pitch up hammocks, tarps, Ponchos and tents, ridge lines, guy lines, tie bowlines, filter water to get the munchies out then boil up the water to kill the Bactria, discuss water filters and packs, make haversacks, talk about knives and kukri 's and hatchets and stiff backs. Shot guns N black powder hand guns n short barreled 38 cal hand guns... All good and all fun and educational, to watch but the one thing I'd like to see you do, is, how to actually find water in the "wilderness" that's not in a lake, pond, river or creek not just talk about it, go out and find it, follow it to its source and take us along via video... How about doing that ?
i will put that on a list of video to do this winter once the leaves have dropped off..right now ya cant see 10ft so showing how and where to look would not be good for the camera.. but i will put this down for ya.
Probably already mentioned, but on a larger scale, could use it as an emergency raft. If you have to get out of an area rather quickly, and you have a large enough body of water around, or your backed up against a river, you can throw one of these together, whatever size you need, 6x10,4x8,etc., throw your gear on, and push off, just make a paddle of some kind.
I love it! If you want to take the game up a level, you could use baling wire and a multi-tool to cut and twist the wire for an even sturdier structure.
Brilliant! I'm going to try this on my next outing. By the way ... I've asked this before and not gotten an answer; I promise, this is the last time: Where can I get that hat?
i got it from the boy scouts when i was a shooting sports teacher for them.. i am looking to try and carry them on my site..i will post a video when i have some good info
I bought one just like it not two months ago . Look on your google search bar for “ BSA Store “ or something to that effect , cant recall the exact name but it is the official Scout supply . You will find the hat just like Blackie’s as I did . Shipping and all was a little over $40. Dont expect the hat to be rigid , it is a crushable hat that reforms itself when you take it out of your gear bag . I like mine and would order it again ....
hmmm if i can handload for each i would say 45-70..i can load it way down with a round ball mold and create a 1000fps small game load as well as up to a 600 grain for super big stuff..and many in between loads based on the need..in the thick cover i live in range is not a issue most game is taken 50yrds or less due to the thick trees/ brush..but i shot my marlin cowboy 45-70 out past 500yrds before wish i still had that gun.. the disadvantage of the 45-70 is lots of lead / lots of powder needed..in that the .308 is the better choice it has tons of loads out there plus powders molds are available..and would serve well at longer range
Hey Blackie, what can you make of that? Blackie: Well I can make a seat or a table or a bed or a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl. ( You have to be old as dirt to get this joke )

This has many practical applications. That was a great tip Blackie. 👍👍👍

What a useful technique. Thank you for showing it to me.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you! You too!
I was just about to bushcraft a boot rack, what a great timing for this video!
Many thanks for your really useful videos. Many greetings from Germany.

another great share from you Blackie!!! Thanks Sir!
Lots of possibilities there. I always enjoy your Cooking videos I will be making your peach cobbler on my hike.
I really like the scalability.
Very interesting thanks for sharing
Looks good Blackie, take care.
Great ideas for bushcraft “furniture.” Highly recommend this idea for anyone out in the woods (just bank line and a SAK saw.
yep no need to split out boards or other heavy labor..simple cut to length you need and do this lazy lash you done

Excellent job sir. Showing that these skills don't have to be difficult and that anyone can do this, is spot on. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant! I’ll be giving that one a try for sure 👍
Thank you! Excellent thing to know!
I love your videos..... I learn so many nifty skills.
thank you
That's a good idea blackie, thank you.
That was a good one Blackie.
glad you liked it
Excellent video, thanks!
Love this video!
Very useful, thx for showing this.
bloody great video, Blackie.
thanks hope it helps ya some day
One of my favourite techniques. It's fast, it's strong, and it's recoverable.
Outstanding!
Bushcraft Carpentry!
Makes a raised bed easy with a few lengths of Mule Tape suspended from a tree branch.
A hardwood Hammock.
LOVE THAT MULE TAPE BROTHER
Yep Corporals corner had done that build

simple and easy thats how i like it

Good trick to know, thankyou.
You're welcome!
So simple! Would make a great platform to stand on while showering to keep you off the muddy ground.
Exactly!
Clever skills bro, I'm impressed!
thanks

Thanks😊😊😊
very nifty bushcrafty idea sir, very cool!
thank you sir
Blackie, love this!
Would you make more of these? Amazing content!
i will be doing a big video on all my cord knowledge it should post soon
That was great! Thank you very much! I’ll start using that right away. Can you continue to show basic construction techniques?
yes i can
👍👍

exactly a raft /a roof / a dock once you learn the idea it becomes the quick method of building what ya need
I love it! If you want to take the game up a level, you could use baling wire and a multi-tool to cut and twist the wire for an even sturdier structure.
ooooh, yes, he uses the victorianox huntsman - finally a use for the parcel hook, twisting bailing wire.
yep i use my hook often for bank line to pull jam knots very tight
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!!
thanks you to
Very nice. I'm going to make one tomorrow. How about showing us how to add four legs to it? Keep up the great work, Blackie.
Will do

Blackie, what happened to the percussion revolver series?!
i have not given up..i shot a review of a ruger old army yesterday and will post it early next week
Take a shorter loop put in 3 sticks , spin the center one till tight and boom instant tripod
yep ..once you learn how to do this ..it becomes the way ya think and see how to build what ever you need
Great trick thank you! Don't get chigger bit out there!
tis the season to be sure..and watch for ticks as well
I think you could use the same system to carry large /long stick bundles.
yes it will work fine for that ..i have made rafts this way and floated a creek with it
If you can have one choice, bolt action .308 or lever action 45-70 ?
hmmm if i can handload for each i would say 45-70..i can load it way down with a round ball mold and create a 1000fps small game load as well as up to a 600 grain for super big stuff..and many in between loads based on the need..in the thick cover i live in range is not a issue most game is taken 50yrds or less due to the thick trees/ brush..but i shot my marlin cowboy 45-70 out past 500yrds before wish i still had that gun..

Mr Blackie y r u not using a bigger saw
To demonstrate what can be done with minimal tools.
Do not diss the Victorianox Huntsman. It is a fine tool, fit for Blackie and MacGyver and Me. Nice hummingbird feeder.
lol true it could have used the silky or my bahco..but i want to show how easy it was with a simple pocket knife
Raft, floor, roof, platform, swing seat, apple iphone. List is endless.
exactly..
Hey Blackie, what can you make of that?
