On the 20th Anniversary of that test
    11-15 March 2001
    India vs Australia
    Border gavaskar trophy
This was the greatest test match to be ever be played.
India had just been humiliatied at Wankhede by the invincible ausies.
    And invincible indeed...
They had won 16 tests in a row at this point
    India in the other hand..
Kumble the veteran spinner wasn't a part of the squad...
And the rest of the spinners on the team hadn't even played 10 tests...
Harbhajan who was suspended for indiscipline had ben recalled due to Dadas insistance....
Famously Declaring, im not leaving this room till I get harbajan on the team…
But even bhajjis his best record,
    till this point was 3/30
Australia finished the the Mumbai test in 3 days.
India couldn't score more then 200 in a single innings
Dada was booed of the ground by an angry Mumbai crowd
    &
Bishen Singh bedi declared this match as the demise of Indian cricket.
But when the plane carrying the indian team landed in kolkata for the second test
    This is the story
Of what actually transpired after that...
The true story that happened behind the scenes
    When nobody was watching
    A story
    Of the struggle
    The blood and sweat
    And the sheer dedication
That went into making a miracle happen.

I always find it weird that it was never publicized.
Many people have actually went on the record and said this multiple time.
Even the physiotherapist has written papers on it.
It should be an integral part of the story right.

This wasn't just another Test Match. It was an emotion of a billion people. It brought out the raw nerves and feelings of players and fans alike. As a young college student I used to have a pager those days just for the heck of it. Checking the scores after every over was giving me palpitations.

I feel compelled to comment! Being somebody who wasn't even born when this match happened, I've just read a couple articles about it, and instantly felt immense respect for them, even though I've never watched them play. And then I see this video on UA-cam! It's brilliant. I had goosebumps while hearing your narration of the heroics of these two legends. It's unbelievable how they sailed through and defeated the Aussies, the mighty, mighty Aussies while being in a condition like that.
I must say, the portion where you spoke about the pretense, about how "They pretended that..." and so on, I just could not hide a smile. I couldn't. This is just fantastic! You've done a splendid job on other videos that I've watched as well! I wish you all the best, for you're certainly doing this amazing job here! Hope to see more such videos from you (one about the Australia triumph in 2020-21 would be GREAT, which I did see that you said you're working on. Will be waiting for it. And of course will be waiting for more about old matches that happened long before I knew what cricket was XD)

We have the inherent ability to rise up to the occasion and fight like a champion when we are at our worst and there's no hope.
There would definitely be memorable Hockey, kabbadi, football games where Indian team might have beaten the odds but for me, i just have few stories which i remember and all of those come from Cricket.
    83 WC
    2001 Ind Australia test series
    2007 t20 WC
    2021 India Australia test series
Each of the above, paved way to something significant to the game but also something quite positive among Indians. A confidence that we can be best and never back out from a fight. With current situation in India with so many fighting this virus, i think if you make a motivational video linking all this, i guess that would be great.
    Other memorable mentions
    96 India pak WC match
    2011 WC

    2016 India Bangla T20 WC

You have made a mistake in your story at about 4:30. Ganguly batted on Day 3. He came to bat just before tea, after Sachin gout out. Then he almost batted through the last session, cutting down the lead with Laxman, and finally got out just before stumps. At stumps on Day 3, Laxman and Dravid were unbeaten, with Laxman having already crossed his hundred.
On Day 4, Laxman and Dravid batted the whole day and we didn't lose a wicket. Also I know the narrative is metaphorical, but the ground was full on all 5 days.

It's difficult to explain why this video moved me so much, but I'll try. In 2001, I was living in Australia as a recently migrated 13 year old - immersed in this anglosphere, a brown boy in a sea of white, forever drowning, pulled down by the colonial shackles of the inferiority complex that affects much of our diaspora. Every time the Indian Cricket Team played against Australia, it felt like a pull upwards, in the opposite direction. Now that I'm older I often trivialise sport and diminish it's relevance. But this tribute video made me realise the undeniable impact India's win in Kolkata had on me at that pivotal age. Reading the headlines in Australia about India's gallant stand - I held my head higher that day. Thanks for reviving a beautiful memory.

May be it was meant to happen at the marquee eden gardens, in the city of joy, where people go to any extent to express their passio for their team. Be it football or cricket. Eden's then capacity of 1,10,000 also made it even more special
What many people don't know is umpire bansal of tony's greig's famous ending words " umpire bansal has given him ( mcgrath ) out, and the whole of bengal is on their feet" later left the stadium without even taking his identity card and was later stopped by the police. When he got out of his car for checking, police left him when he said his mere name only
Well, by the end of the match, his mere name became a legendary name
Even in ipl, eden gardens attracts the biggest crowds all over india
Another unbelievable, strange and yet real incident of this city is in the kuldeep yadav odi hattrick match vs australia in 2017, which took place in kolkata during the peak durga puja time, on that very day, even after being a durga puja day, the attendance for that odi was more than 32,000 I;e more than 50%

He played his entire career after tennis elbow injury in 2003-04. He modified his technique still gave the best. And also he played like champ in critical situations. Indian cricket would have died in 1992-1996 just like current srilanka if sachin was not there . Don't compare legends.

@@chetansahu7696 I am not comparing Aldo not asked Sachin fans to quote the injuries he had rather to specify one inning. Once Saurav, Dravid and Laxman joined the team the pressure that he carried was tremendously reduced. After youngsters joined no pressure at all still he has not played any crucial inning like this one. So, don’t play around rather accept the fact and move on.

136 v Pakistan in Chennai against Pakistan who had Wasim Waqar saqlain etc. Chasing 275 india were 80 for 5. With bad back barely able to stand he was samshing all the bolwers and took the match within 17 runs. He got out and last 4 players couldn't even score 17. Had india won that would ve been Innings of all time. Laxman had dravid but in this game Sachin was almost all alone.
Even in the first test of that 2001 series india were all out for 170 out of which Sachin scored 70 odd and that was one of his best innings on a difficult pitch never got support again in the second innings dravid and Sachin had a good partnership but dravid got out caught off the short leg fielders helmet and after that everyone collapsed and no support for Sachin in the other end

With leading paceman Javagal Srinath ruled out of the series with a finger injury during the First Test, the teams met for the Second Test in Kolkata, with an even bigger burden on Harbhajan. Public opinion was sceptical about India's chances of stopping Australia's winning streak, with former captain Bishan Bedi lamenting the demise of Indian cricket. Australia were again in control on the first day, having scored 193/1, with Hayden having struck Harbhajan out of the attack. Harbhajan fought back to reduce Australia to 252/7, taking five wickets in the final session, including Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne in successive balls to become the first Indian to claim a Test hat-trick.After a prolonged wait for the third umpire to adjudicate whether Sadagoppan Ramesh had managed to catch Warne before the ball hit the ground, the near-capacity crowd at Eden Gardens erupted when he was given out.Harbhajan eventually finished with 7/123 as Australia were bowled out for 445. India batted poorly and were forced to follow-on. India seemed to be all but out of the match, and the series, but then came an epic 376-run partnership between V. V. S. Laxman and Rahul Dravid. The duo batted together for an entire day, allowing India to set Australia an imposing target of 384 to win on the final day. Australia appeared to be safely batting out the match for a draw, until losing 7/56 in the final session, collapsing from 166/3 to be bowled out for 212. Sachin LBWed three players and Harbhajan claimed four of the wickets, to finish with 6/73 for the innings and a match tally of 13/196. India ended Australia's 16-match world record winning streak, and became only the third team to win a Test after being forced to follow on with Australia having been the losing team on all three occasions.

All my love used to be on Sourav, Sachin, VVS Laxman, R.Dravid, A Jadeja, R Singh, V Kambli, A Kumble, A Agarkar, V Prasad, D Mohanty. I came to know Sachin also wantedly used to not perform sometimes under A z har captaincy. While there are many reasons why I hate Sachin is selfishness, he got chances despite slump in form that none others got such an exception and he used to relax (leaving about 100s scored apart), no proper fire when matches or series lost, no fire in worldcups and not winning WC1996, failing against Aus 0(2) in 1999 WC and hat too against McGrath and same 4(3) in 2003WC Vs Aus on same McGrath this time he hit a 4 that's it. Not as competent as Lara scored records in Tests and never had 200s on ENG, SL, RSA, PAK and if on Pak he was stopped on 194* when Viru made a 309 this is where my extreme hate towards Dravid actually started too. Apart from these reasons I like Sachin also, and also hates him for one more reason for Ind touring Windies in 2002 and had 5-0 whitewash Sachin responsible and only in last match last innings making an unworthy 86 and scoring 3 ducks in a row includes a golden. Other reason to hate Dravid is he showed his attitude and unworn a helmet and played against AUS towards supposedly innings closure while Ind dominating that Test making 91* retired hurt due to the Brett Lee's ball smashing his unprotected ear missing a 100 on the egoistic AUS fellows. Sourav I hate for few reasons only.....not allowing too many chances for VVS Laxman and encouraging matchfixer A z har, not allowing too much for Vinod Kambli towards his end of career, for including Nayan Mongia always and poor at selecting wicketkeeper batsmen till before 2003, he didn't have another ODI 100 Vs AUS except that 100 out for once, missing an odi 100 on strong Windies and main reason comes hatred is apart from sidelining VVS Laxman, he never encouraged Hemang Badani and allowed the scrap fellow Dinesh Mongia. One more hatred is Connor Williams was never called back after he made a 1 Test match 8&42 vs strong AUS while encouraging impotent SS Das instead. Apart from these there are many reasons I love all the players till before Yuvi, Sehwag arrived. Post 2003WC my loving players are everyone till before the current fellows cameup.
