Your explores are just great, respectful and informative, and you son has a gift for finding the remnants of wartime life, the lightswitch was an excellent find. I look forward to you both continuing your research and video making. Thank you again for taking us along.
Thanks for an excellent video. I had an aunt and uncle who lived in the nearby village of Holton-cum-Beckering during the war, and my mother used to visit them then. I last set foot on Wickenby in 1978, exploring the old guardroom, but not much else. Amazing to see how much still stands.
@@EWB0262 If I remember correctly, it was on the Wragby Road. The 'Guardhouse' sign was still visible. I remember my mother saying that during one wartime visit to her big sister in Holton-cum-Beckering, she saw a plane chrash. There are two graves in the Holton churchyard, one is of a New Zealand airman. Sobering to think that over a thousand young men set off from Wickenby and did not return.
@@EWB0262 Take the time to visit the White Horse pub at nearby Lissington....quite apart from the good beer, there is a framed blackboard with the chalked signatures of a good number of airmen...doubtless several of whom failed to return.

@@iainmacmillan2548 .... hi there, thank you for your excellent comment. We didn't see the guardroom, I don't think it's still standing.

Not sure if the location where the officers mess was removed to may have been RAF Faldingworth, not Faldingham?
