Hell yeah man they are amazing! And from what I hear, much better than the first iteration. Between all the I/O and the pads and the SD card and even the onboard speakers, it truly is an amazing alternative to a laptop and DAW.
I use mother ducker in place of transient. All else the same. On parametric EQ I squeeze the mid’s -11dB at 871hz and 1.84 bandwidth, which gives a more natural and professional boosted sound without distorting the signal because the highest peak is at or below 0dB.
This is very helpful. When I go to the mix section and then up to the mixer, I don’t seem to have a masters option. I have midi tracks, Audio tracks, programs, returns, sub mixes and Maine outputs. Any suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?
Yeah so you need to goto the Main outputs section and then select the “Inserts” as if you were going to add a plugin and then at the top of that section will be a button for preset plugins.
make sure you update to newest release and also if you just go to the crown icon in the mixer that is the master channel then you click the akai folder and scroll down to mastering
This is a great video - really clear, measured and informative. Thank you!! A lot of UA-camrs could learn a thing or two from you.
I appreciate the kind words and glad to help!
Great tutorial I may replace transient with maybe saturation or mpc emulation or stereo widening but awesome advice thank you!
Yeah that’s a solid choice for sure. Glad to help!

Thanks for the tip! Everyone’s EQ needs vary from song to song and I should have made that a bit clearer in the vid.
So to get your sounds to stay loud but without clipping I would use parametric EQ or would that be with the compressor ?
This would have been masterclass if we could have seen your screen the whole time. Thanks though.
Fantastic video and thanks for sharing
Glad to help!
Baseline not bass line made me laugh. Great video I learned something new
Haha glad to help!

@@Ponchy ! Perfect thanks so much for the really fast replay and great tips!
I just came across this same issue. I guess the menu changed some with some of the updates. Thanks for this info, Ponchy.
Hi when i go mix, masters and inserts there is no presets available at the top of screen like there is on yours. Any idea why that might be?

yeah definitely agree with Jae on this one, thanks Jae.
