Honestly, as a lifeling Vikings fan from L.A., I feel TERRIBLE for Sam. He went from written off bust, to on top of the NFL world, just to fall off in 15 days back to being considered a "bust". He played bad the last 2 games and it IS definitely what ultimatley cost the Vikings. BUT, he is also greatly responsible for the 14 games the Vikings won this season as well. Grateful for him, and I wish him nothing but the best in the future. My heart honestly hurts for him right now.
So Im an old school Sports Broadcaster born and bred in St. Small, cut my teeth at KSTP. Just want to send a BIG compliment to your blog game. Obtuse references with decent comic sauce. Great job Son. Keep doing that thing!
It feels like every year where we need IOL, DT/NT, and CB in the draft or free agency. If Smith retires and/or Bynum leaves, then move Safety up the list, too. That's realistically about 5 new starters, hopefully 1-2 first-day draft picks to develop on the fly then the rest experienced vets ready to start immediately. Big order, but much less drastic than last year's overhaul, I feel like Kwesi can do this
Judd from Purple Daily is right about Addison. Trade him NOW for a couple high draft picks. He has had off field issues the last two years and will still be suspended for a few games next year anyway.
People were giving me shit when I said after the Packers game, let's wait and see how Darnold does to decide if we should resign him. Everyone wanted to resign him after that Game!! Told y'all to wait and see how he plays in the Big Games. Sucks it didn't work out but now we're all on the same page.
@ he is a serviceable backup, spot start. How often do the Vikings o line get injured and derail the season? Robinson was the 2nd best lineman we had. These LTs don’t grow on trees. Probably would have lost 4 more regular season games if we didn’t pick him up in FA.
@user-di5ye5hr3b why would he take that deal? Someone will pay more money and offer starting role which will help him get more contracts. He was a rental starter. That's all
KOC needs to take a MAJOR step up or no matter what the team looks like it will crumble just like this year. He needs to be held accountable and look around the league to see how he can improve his play calling. Absolutely got embarrassed and looked pathetic those last two games.
@ true, we missed quite a few, but also my god our offense has been one dimensional. Need to throw in more quick passes, screens, and take away the sheer amount of long developing routes downfield. Not completely but they just take too long and sacks/interceptions have been so common on those.
1. Andy. Thanks for showing the Vikes' 'Thug Life' accounting genius! That always makes my day, and a good chuckle is really needed today! 2. A follow-up: Brandel, Bradbury & Risner need to be turned into Free Agents this week! lol 3. Andy! Lets turn your graphic with your three 'dream-team iOL free agents' into a billboard sign for a location near the team offices! 4. *IF* Kwesi A-M significantly upgrades the entire iOL, and *IF* McCarthy and/or Jones look to be the real deal next year, then - given all the talent the Vikes have at WR & TE - having the same RB room as this year will be more than enough to control the ball & score a lot of points. 5. Also, hopefully KOC will modify his playbook to take even more advantage of the pass-catching skills of Jones, Akers & Chandler. 6. Bynum's lack of open-field tackling reflects his roots as a college CB. I would be happy to have him back, especially if the other safety is a physical guy who can blitz (Yes, Harrison Smith played pretty well this year, but - I hate to say it - I'm not sure if his declining speed won't be a liability next year)
Spotrac is still showing Darnold's market value is $40 million. That seems insane to me, but if it's accurate then a tag and trade might still be an option. And if I'm a team thinking about bringing in Darnold, I definitely wouldn't want to commit to anything longer than a year until I see if he can do it again.
not a vikes fan but jus watching some of the games I would attack DB and physical interior olineman that can set a tone and give y’all a consistent run game
Risner was the only bright spot on the interior and he's here on backup level money, I'd keep him as a depth piece. Likewise, Tillery, Bullard, and Powell are all guys who play a roll, but are replaceable. I think we might bring them back for camp, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are cut at the 53. Hell of a year for the Vikes, I'm proud despite the finish.
Much rather have Jimmy garopollo than Daniel jones. Good knowledge base working with Brady, Belicheck, Shannahan, and Mcvay. Good resource for JJ McCarthy.
Bynum has to be back - great player first and foremost, great locker room guy, and with the churn expected in the secondary it would be good to have some consistency. Also having watched Harry in the post-game interview there is no chance he's coming back. You don't get a 10+ year vet crying over a wild card round loss.
That screenshot of the top paid safeties APY is slightly telling. A lot of those guys are on good teams, but how many of them are on teams playing this weekend… one (Marcus Williams).
Let’s see if any team can find themselves a quarterback for 10 millions and win them a SB ? If The Vikings wanted a SB win, they need to pay out Mahomes contract. The Vikings had lucked out this season! Instead of appreciation, Sam Darnold and the O line got crucified. They’ve only played with each other for 1 season. It’s never enough. Human behavior is terrifying
I agree with most of your decisions, but this team has to get younger to remain competitive and have some year-to-year continuity. The Vikings have virtually no reliable young depth behind the starters and have drafted poorly. In last night's game, only 7 of the 22 starters were originally signed by the Vikings.
1. We MUST upgrade the O line no matter who the QB will be, and concentrate on the run game (control) A old fashioned FULL BACK !!! Yes. 2. Settle the QB . if JJ as a starter better have someone who has talent AND experience as who knows, JJ could turn out to be a C Ponder. My pick is D Jones as the backup. Thoughts 2.
Probably only the Jones’ and Murphy, I really don’t want most of them back. We need speed in coverage, our DBs were just too gassed and old end of season.
O line seems excluded in all the hype, therefore unmotivated maybe? Seemed like a contagion in the frontline that no one cared to fight for Darnold. Need dawgs, BIG dawgs, to fight for our QB.. FIGHT for him !
Jones was a decent help and such a massive running game improvement but..whoever..The Deep Routes need time. Time means blocking. What a poor display no ar donald to block.
KOC gets out coach every big game. There is no need to keep him proven loser! (In the real world, he has no job) facts! How many decades does it take the vikings to find a franchise quarterback?
I love me some hitman but his play the last three years has dropped off. He is not the hitman anymore and his coverage has gotten worse. He was never a great coverage saftey, he was our last run stopper and blitzer off the edge. If you really look at his play you can see he does not stick his head in there like he use too. Age?, rule changes?, whatever his play has gone down and he should retire.
Well, unfortunately … I’ll be back. 😭
I feel this lol.
True, and we're not even under contract to do so
Honestly, as a lifeling Vikings fan from L.A., I feel TERRIBLE for Sam. He went from written off bust, to on top of the NFL world, just to fall off in 15 days back to being considered a "bust". Here's at least one moderately knowledgable fan who agrees with you, Mr Reign! Sam Darnold's tale is the stuff of Greek tragedy.
So Im an old school Sports Broadcaster born and bred in St. Small, cut my teeth at KSTP. Just want to send a BIG compliment to your blog game. Obtuse references with decent comic sauce. Great job Son. Keep doing that thing!
7 years ago today was the Mnneapolis Miracle
Hiring a OC who has an emphasis on Running schemes and O-line synergy even inexperienced could be the check to KOC heavy pass play calling.

Beezy feels like a Tennessee titan.
I just happy that the Vikings weren’t “slaves to the moment” with Darnold.
People were giving me shit when I said after the Packers game, let's wait and see how Darnold does to decide if we should resign him. Everyone wanted to resign him after that Game!! Told y'all to wait and see how he plays in the Big Games. Sucks it didn't work out but now we're all on the same page.
Am I the only one who’s worried they will bring Darnold back???
PACKERS PAYING LOVE 55 MILLION A YEAR 😮😮😮 DARNOLD BEAT HIM TWICE
been coming back since 1968. I shall return.
Ok ready to lock into the best part of being a Vikings fan. The offseason! It’s all we got.
It would be worth it to keep Robinson at 10-15 million a year to backup Darrisaw and O’Neil if an injury occurs.
Hell no
@ he is a serviceable backup, spot start. How often do the Vikings o line get injured and derail the season? Robinson was the 2nd best lineman we had. These LTs don’t grow on trees. Probably would have lost 4 more regular season games if we didn’t pick him up in FA.
We could use that money on starting players before backups... We need secondary and guards in the worst way
@ 10 million a year over 2 years with cap adjustments won’t put a dent in the cap
When the plays are there, the players need to make them.
@ true, we missed quite a few, but also my god our offense has been one dimensional. Need to throw in more quick passes, screens, and take away the sheer amount of long developing routes downfield. Not completely but they just take too long and sacks/interceptions have been so common on those.
I think KOC probably needs to hand off playcalling at this point. It's obvious to me he struggles to be good enough at both.
Powell muffed too many times. We need to draft another K-A returner with a late pick.
Bring back Murphy, Ward, Aaron Jones and Beezy
1. Andy. Thanks for showing the Vikes' 'Thug Life' accounting genius! That always makes my day, and a good chuckle is really needed today!

The "other physical safety" you want is likely Metellus, who I think worked well this year.
Risner being a backup and staying would be solid
Spotrac is still showing Darnold's market value is $40 million. That seems insane to me, but if it's accurate then a tag and trade might still be an option. And if I'm a team thinking about bringing in Darnold, I definitely wouldn't want to commit to anything longer than a year until I see if he can do it again.
Look into Western Michigan CB Bilhal Kone, great outside zone corner who is also good in man. Home grown talent, I hope we draft him!!
I honestly think you’ll let Aaron Jones walk
We need a new RB & O-line coach and please draft a Mauler G in the first round. Don't care if it's not a "sexy" pick.
Make a list of wants and how much ud pay
not a vikes fan but jus watching some of the games I would attack DB and physical interior olineman that can set a tone and give y’all a consistent run game
Harry, Bynum, Murphy. Draft some linemen and press physical corners
Address the needs in free agency and draft best available player
Risner was the only bright spot on the interior and he's here on backup level money, I'd keep him as a depth piece. Likewise, Tillery, Bullard, and Powell are all guys who play a roll, but are replaceable. I think we might bring them back for camp, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are cut at the 53. Need pages out of those styles of play books though.. sometimes I feel like KOC calls plays like 10 year old me playing Madden.. 😏😢😩🤷
I’d say yes to Bullard until the unacceptable offsides penalty. That was the first of many implosions to come
I think Risner could be solid depth for a good price. Not a starter though
Thats more than half our 53 😭 i loved this team.. this demolition is gonna be a rough one.. 😢
Was hoping we wouldn’t get these till next week but Sammy d had other plans😭😭😂
Do you think we will try to front or back load these contracts? Or use both to balance out
Bynum has to be back - great player first and foremost, great locker room guy, and with the churn expected in the secondary it would be good to have some consistency. O-LINE,O-LINE,O-LINE! DRAFT ANOTHER RUNNING BACK AND GET o-line!!!
Thoughts
2.
Shaq………… no! Jones also. Could draft a better RB.
Aaron Jones is an awesome dude and was pretty solid this year but we should let him go. We need to get younger and more explosive at RB
KOC needs to stop calling the offense line
Kwazis lotto numbers.. 76,78,65 Mn pick Tag Sam trade get picks. Harry as a coach,Byron young enough for a few godo years.
So about how much will we have after signing are in house guys?
Probably only the Jones’ and Murphy, I really don’t want most of them back. We need speed in coverage, our DBs were just too gassed and old end of season.
Jones should be on a vet minimum next season since the Giants are paying him something like $22M next year
Lmao. I don't care how good KoC is. You guys are on drugs if you think Jones will be good, even in this offense.
@@durant3248 Lmao. Reading comprehension or are you on drugs? I’m a Giants fan I know how bad he is.
Let the whole interior Oline walk. Bynum can come back but we’re not gonna overpay. We know Patrick Jones is out.
O line seems excluded in all the hype, therefore unmotivated maybe? Seemed like a contagion in the frontline that no one cared to fight for Darnold. Need dawgs, BIG dawgs, to fight for our QB.. FIGHT for him !
To me I want bymum back
The spoon of truth
Let everyone go
Jones was a decent help and such a massive running game improvement but..whoever..The Deep Routes need time. Time means blocking. What a poor display no ar donald to block.
They should sign najee harris cam akers and jones
not so fun fact we broke a record for most first round losses 🙂
Mock draft time
Of MN does not revamp the OL then this team is really ok with just being average. Just good enough not great team
One year rental Aaron Rodgers.
lol good luck vikes!~
Jonathan Bullard..is a hard NO !! Gifting LA an early TD ..is not a good look. Also he is rated VERY low on PFF analytics.
Move from shaq unless he’s gonna be a back up!
KOC gets out coach every big game. There is no need to keep him proven loser! (In the real world, he has no job) facts!
How many decades does it take the vikings to find a franchise quarterback?
replace KOC play calling--he's a problem.
Bye! Bye! Bad throws Darnold. Bye! Bye! Tourists Byron and Bynum. They need new physical corners and safetys.
Rule changes. It was a different game when he entered the league
That play he made last night blocking the TE from making a big catch was good. He can still play.
That crap was horrible
