It was a nightmare on so many levels. I feel the same way about the 14 tho. I knew they were done after the Lions game. I've seen this happen too many times.
Same here. I kept in on in the other room, went back and checked it the :04 second mark of the third quarter, went back to spending time with the family and an hour plus later checked the itrawebs for the score. If we had pulled off the miracle, I could have went back and watched it... Fun season, that ended poorly. SKOL!
With teams constantly having to account for JJ and Addison it should be so easy to setup quick passing plays for first downs. I can't count how many of those Darnold missed.
I really hope KO is mature enough to build a complete offense around JJ. Doesn't have to be flashy, or set passing records, just win games. Build something that can't be beat.
I think KOC being such a young HC is just scared to make the mistakes so he plays way to caustious and doesnt wanna look stupid which in turn makes us all look stupid lol
"Scared"? O-line was scared & scattered to the wind- not the Coach- just an observation and no, I shut the 2nd half off and never looked back! 50 years of waiting for championship play and denied by the Yikes Vikes everytime🎉😂
When that defensive lineman jump high in the air like the undertaker onto darnold during a sack. why wasn’t unnecessary roughness called? If that was pat mahomes 5 flags would have been thrown.
Don't forget we had time at the end of two different quarters when we were behind to run plays and we sat at the line and didn't run either play. Our coaches clock management skills are horrifically bad
Of course Wes hasn't got any interiews, he doesnt seem to do much from a play-calling stance. If this team's offence wants to take the next step, they need to Hire an OC who has a huge input on the Run and O-Line synergy. Even some-one inexperienced but shows alot of creativity, someone that can balance KOCs heavy pass scheme. Then they can maybe take the play-calling in a year or 2
Not so sure about koc. 4th & 2 and he sends all but one receiver 15 yds out? That's pitiful. Not having plays that gets the ball out of darnolds hands in less then 4 seconds. That's easy common sense stuff. Like so easy he must be laughably inefficient at other things
Not putting Mullins in was the right call. He would not have done better - likely worse - then everyone would be asking why the heck KOC put Mullins in when Sam carried the team all year. It was damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Anyway, that is just noise. We didn't lose that game because of Darnold. The Rams were ready and had a much better plan. They predicted our strategy on both sides of the ball and they were right. This is a learning opportunity for our coaching staff - I hope they use it. Hats off to the entire team for the 2nd best season record in franchise history (#2 of 63), but let's re-focus on winning big games.
We 100% lost the game because of Darnold. Darnold was a disaster. Behind in his reads, often not even starting his progressions until after his drop. He only got the ball out on time two or three times the whole game. He was panicky and his footwork was terrible as a result. He couldn’t even complete screen passes. He missed a ton of open receivers. There were easy answers to every sack. Only one sack was less than three seconds and that was a zero blitz with Hock running free behind the blitzing MLB. Throwing it at the blitz is routine stuff taught in high school. He had opportunities to throw the ball away and still just ate sacks. If your QB cannot see the field, can’t get through his progressions, is scattershot with accuracy, takes sacks for no damn reason, and cannot even complete screen passes, there is almost nothing a coaching staff can do. Nobody tanks a game faster than a QB out of his depth. 100% KOC should have benched Darnold at halftime. He was awful and tanking any chance at winning.
We should have all seen this coming from a mile away. Each week... Addison & Jefferson were leaping way over their heads for catches or missed opportunities. Hockenson wasn't even targeted, even when he was wide open. No contingency plans for teams with pressure rushes... coach problem there. Why was there no dump passes to a running back as a fail safe... like the Tommy Kramer years. Or... a well designed screen pass? Maybe a quarterback roll out? Coach problem here. Looked like the team two years ago... ended same way.
Because there were? Every play where Darnold took a sack had a wide open receiver that Sam just didn’t see. Jets wide open in the flat, Jones on the checkdown, Hock behind the blitzing LB, Nailor on the dig, Addison on the slant, Oliver curled over the middle. Or damn, he could have just thrown the ball away. Instead, he panicked, ran away like a chicken with happy feet and zero base resulting in accuracy so poor that he misfired on two screen passes. He ate nine sacks for no reason. It was an absolute meltdown and one of the worst QB performances I’ve ever watched. At least the Freeman game was entertaining.
His play calling is too generic and old-fashioned. I think the best team play calling is the Lions. Their play calling is so unpredictable and fun to watch.
I’m very okay with KOC continuing to call plays while being head coach. He’s great, but needs work and I truly expect him to grow into one of the best in the game for a very long time. Let’s all be patient with him while he grows with us. He wants to be in Minnesota and we are lucky for that
Not using a excuse But Sammy D was playing w injured finger past 6 weeks nobody seem to care ..he definitely had long as bandaid on there stretching from wrist to inside of hand js but yea SKOL FOREVER 💯💯♥️
Why do you vikings fans get so discouraged over a season where nobody expexted this, not even yourselves, now blame has to go around? Blame for playing above your potential? I dont get it at all. You guys start 5-0 then expect to win the superbowl overnight. Yall had a great season and you should celebrate it if anything considering koc got absolutely the most out of this team that was possible
All year long Sam ran occasionally for good gains and first downs. That option keeps a defense honest and suddenly receivers are getting open, backs run harder, etc. etc. So why stand back there and pat the ball every single time? After the first possession, the Rams knew just where to find Sam on every play, because he was standing in the same place on every play. Infuriating. It's almost like the NFL needed the Rams to kick somebodys a$$.
These Viking problems reminds me of the problems the Panthers have had. That is a weak offensive line. Bryce Young could not even get off the ground but even was left running for his life right after the snap because of the flimsy Panthers offensive line. Darnold's a great quarterback but the Vikings should have been mindful of his capacity to collapse occasionally. And that period appeared with the Lions game. O'Connell should have gone with Mullins at that point seeing Darnold starting to lose it, momentarily. I think KOC should have played Mullins in the first half then go with Darnold in the second half, in order to see if that collapse period could have been ended at that juncture.. Anyway, some years back Detroit traded Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles and Los Angeles sent Goff to Detroit. And the possibility Detroit and Los Angeles could be squaring off in the NFC championship game is real. That trade is a win win situation for both teams. A little funny that they both could wind up in the NFC championship game. With that unusual trade of exchanging quarterbacks.
I don’t think koc thought out running offense was good enough, so he crossed his fingers waiting for darnold and trusted him to much I hate saying this but mullens would’ve been better and darnold needs to run more and get rid of that ball his in experience showed so jj mcarthy may not solve everything but mcarthy wouldn’t play like that
KOC is horrible in play calling and with managing big games. He's finesse, and heady, but not a winner in tight situations. Last two games showed how weak he is in the clutch. The rest of the team should be pissed at KOC.
The Vikings are the flukiest NFL teem.....just look at their history! Case Keenum in 2017 Minneapolis Miracle, then two years ago getting beat down by Daniel Jones and now this! Its who they are. If you understand the history expect a drop off next year, followed by another fluky 11 plus winning season two years from now.
So glad I didn't watch the second half. I've seen this movie before. Grateful for 14 wins.
Turned off the game when KOC kept running the ball down 18 points with 6 minutes left
It was a nightmare on so many levels. I feel the same way about the 14 tho. I knew they were done after the Lions game. I've seen this happen too many times.
Yup, been watching this team since 1977…I turned off the game in the first half, frick’n horrible play.
Same here. Someone got paid off
I really hope KO is mature enough to build a complete offense around JJ. Doesn't have to be flashy, or set passing records, just win games. Build something that can't be beat.
FACTZ😈🔥😉💭🥂🙌🏻💜💛
All in on the FA interior line. We also have some good projects on their rookie deals in Rouse and Jurgens for depth.
I miss the days where games didn't feel so rigged. 😅
@jarrollin ? Do you mean intentional grounding?
There are issues, and they need to be addressed honestly. They should be tired of being a good team, when they could be great.
I agree with the "vanilla offense". I thought the same thing. 😅
When that defensive lineman jump high in the air like the undertaker onto darnold during a sack. why wasn’t unnecessary roughness called? If that was pat mahomes 5 flags would have been thrown.
I 100% feel like Daniel jones (with playoff experience) should have been put in at least at the second half
Sam missed Aaron on a screen by 3 yards....... thats not being preasured......
KOC needs to game plan better, "1-0" how about more strategy!
agree, and be able to make in-game adjustments
Don't forget we had time at the end of two different quarters when we were behind to run plays and we sat at the line and didn't run either play. Our coaches clock management skills are horrifically bad
Jeffersons prime is going to waste. Get an offensive line and turn both JJ‘s loose.
Really wondering if something is wrong with Darnolds finger.
BEEN SAYING THIS PROBABLY WHY!!!!💯💯

I’d promote McCown if he doesn’t get a HC job. I’d give him play calling.m so KOC can focus on the whiole team.
I refuse to listen to aikman and buck, so i turn on the fan.
You missed some wisdom this game. Aikman wasn’t afraid to call Darnold out repeatedly for his poor play. It was pure gold.
Not so sure about koc. 4th & 2 and he sends all but one receiver 15 yds out? That's pitiful. Not having plays that gets the ball out of darnolds hands in less then 4 seconds. That's easy common sense stuff. Like so easy he must be laughably inefficient at other things
Fixed!

No man he would of scored 👍👍
Have teams figured out koc?
He got out-coached in the last 2 games.

Today is the worst. The Vikings lost so bag my company decided to eliminate my position. I wish I was joking. What a day....
Turned the channel at halftime, couldn't watch David Carr anymore.
His play calling is too generic and old-fashioned.
I think the best team play calling is the Lions.
Their play calling is so unpredictable and fun to watch.
Run the same play as the bills lions chiefs ravens skins packers etc copy the teams that have an offense that moves the ball
KOCs playbook NEEDS a top 5 offensive line. We'd straight chunk teams.
I’m very okay with KOC continuing to call plays while being head coach. He’s great, but needs work and I truly expect him to grow into one of the best in the game for a very long time.
Let’s all be patient with him while he grows with us. He wants to be in Minnesota and we are lucky for that
It doesn't matter how many wins you have in the regular season, but if you're 2 one and done, that's a choke job😅
Not using a excuse But Sammy D was playing w injured finger past 6 weeks nobody seem to care ..he definitely had long as bandaid on there stretching from wrist to inside of hand js but yea SKOL FOREVER 💯💯♥️
KOC thinks he is still playing so he talks to Sam for too long
He doesn't feel the actual pressure like darnold
I think we need to fix our running room and trust them more before a legit run in the playoffs
SAM is mostly to blame 🙏🏻 Prayed for him
I think the falcons center is also a free agent so hom too.
Darnold was avoiding the short pass because he saw what happened to Cousins lmao
KOC called plays like we have the Steelers personnel

You know that you have a superbowl contending team before expecting a superbowl

This was set up for vikes to loos , you could tell by KOC s face from the beggining
We need an offensive coordinator
Koc. Is 🗑️

I was calling for Mullins early in the second half and I bet Jefferson was too!
KOC looked like he checked out on Darnold. Seemed receivers were open enough. Just my opinion, ….
I don’t think koc thought out running offense was good enough, so he crossed his fingers waiting for darnold and trusted him to much I hate saying this but mullens would’ve been better and darnold needs to run more and get rid of that ball his in experience showed so jj mcarthy may not solve everything but mcarthy wouldn’t play like that
I knew that loss was coming for a week. had no doubt Rams were going to win.
You guys aren't winning a superbowl ever. JJ isn't the answer. You guys have a horrible coach, who disappears in playoff games
Would at least two new guards make Bradberry passable?
Absolutely NOT! Bradberry hast to go.
No look at his arms boy looks like a whole ass T- Rex out there
KOC is the worst head coach I’ve ever seen! And Darn-OLD is USELESS in big pressure games! Get rid of them both!
KOC is horrible in play calling and with managing big games. He's finesse, and heady, but not a winner in tight situations. Last two games showed how weak he is in the clutch. The rest of the team should be pissed at KOC.
This team is just average will never b elite.
