I think you may not be watching good horror films at all. You have to look for them. I recommend a French film named "Martyrs" to see what actual fear feels like. Also check out Hereditary. But even for Hollywood, 2022 was considered a good year for horror films.
BAZINGA is the one I really relate to. My mom loved Big Bang Theory and I never did. Only once or twice did it make me chuckle genuinely and I was surprised.
What really kills me about that animation is the fact that the father may not love Big Bang Theory at all. Just that he's grown accustomed to it because he realizes that him and his daughter are dead if they stop laughing. He saw that his daughter never laughed at it, so he had to make the sacrifice to save them both. That's why he laughs in his sleep. He's trained himself to keep Sheldon at bay, even when unconscious.
Edit: The other theory my friend posed to me the other day was that the dad GENUINELY loves Big Bang Theory and thus is immune to Sheldon. However, because the daughter was only pretending to laugh and didn't actually find Sheldon charming, she would be subject to his torture. I like that theory A LOT.
Meatcanyon makes the best animations on youtube. By far. Full of depth and emotional depravity to top off the comedy.
