Love how Pat has kept his mistakes in the video. This might be an oversight but for a video that is explicitly about how you can start in this space, it is humbling to know that even the ones you look upto make small mistakes. On purpose or not, I for one am inspired. Love ya Pat.

Your motivation was why I started my show 4 months back. My SEO has sky rocketed which is a fantastic bonus which people don't realise. Just past 125,000 downloads and am in the top 99 percentile. But more than that, people now know I truly care about my niche. I've helped thousands more than I could have managed without this. Thank you from me and my listeners

Years ago my impression was: Probably I should start a podcast. In January 2020 I did. My experiences with only 3 episodes so far: Compared to UA-cam my impression is, that I am gaining followers/listeners a lot faster than with UA-cam (in my beginnings).

Pat, I want to thank you, and a few other podcasters, for being such an encouragement to me to stay with it. I immigrated to the USA in 2018 and didn't know anyone here, but I wanted to get my message out. That's when I found your podcast and decided I want to do this too. I faced a few challenges that year with my youngest son being diagnosed with cancer and journeying with him to health and a huge disappointment during that time. But I stayed with it. I kept listening and watching and even when I felt I couldn't do another episode, nearly in tears, I would stay with it. I just celebrated 6000 listens. Not a big audience but every day I just hop on to inspire people all over the world. What an amazing privilege. Thank you for your message. (Sorry for the long comment.)

Seth's The Podcasting Fellowship is one of the most valuable experiences of my life. My podcast Beyond Networking was born in TPF with the help and guidance of an incredible community. I've seen featured and built relationships with dozens of legends and leaders of industries. Not only am I able to contribute to a global conversation (in my case around building a sustainable career and life in an unpredictable world), but I've also massively expanded my network of high level relationships, which is serving my business. You cannot NOT have a podcast in 2020.

I listen to Dan Bongino, California Streaming, the Messy Minimalists, the Adam Corolla Show, and any podcasts which feature James Clear-as well as some others. Subscriptions change during the season (spring and summer I add gardening and canning podcasts for motivation). Podcasting seemed too complicated for me- so I tried starting a blog. But blogging was a PITA, what with typing slower than I think or speak, and not being able to speak at length about any one topic. So podcasting is being researched again. I’ve been a part of podcasts before- but life got in the way so we took it down to save on Libsyn costs. If I can figure out how to do it on my own, I’ll bring them all back under my own account.

I've 2 Qs. My first is do you think it's a wise choice to start a podcast in English when you aren't a native speaker? I plan to start the podcast in a few months and I'm wondering if it's better to start it in my own language( I don't actually want to do that ) that's why I'm improving my English with private lessons.
Second question: I'm stuck with naming the podcast, I have a lot of ideas for the episodes but naming is a pain. Any advice on how to do that, or how did you come up with your name?
Thank you in advance! I also plan to join you two months from now(max) cause If I'm taking a course I want to be yours! I found a lot of value in the podcast Cheat Sheet so I can't imagine what's in the course!
I write and talk a lot. ... Sorry for the long message

It was surprising how much the Sports & exercise Science area are wanting this and that we have talked at different conferences which just feels bizarre where someone talks about heir PhD research and there is us talking about a podcast. The main barrier we have is the preconceived stereotypes of social media by the practitioners as they belive as just rants, social commentary and lack of scientific rigour, combined with a skepticism of social media platforms.

i'd like to add podcasts as another income stream, but i'm not sure how i can do that with a crafting niche (emphasis on scrapbooking & tear bears); it's more of a visual learning process. anyone have any suggestions?

I am starting to build an audience on UA-cam, and I was inspired by you to start a podcast. I bought some equipment, but I haven't started yet. I have a part-time job still, so it's hard to find extra time. I have made the commitment to post one UA-cam video every Sunday and continue to update my blog. I will find a way to make podcasting a part of my brand. I have been watching your videos on podcasting to learn as much as I can. I was at VidSummit. Thanks for the SwitchPod; it has come in handy with my projects.

The reason I haven't started podcasting yet is because it seems there's no solid way for organic growth other than being featured in the recommended section and guest podcasting. Your blog can be found passively through search and a UA-cam channel through search and recommended sections. The UI for the podcasting recommended section simply isn't as good as these other platforms imo. Am I missing something here?

I would like to know the answer as well. but I was surprised, I got interviewed by a podcast that has like 35 average listeners. after that interview I sold a couple of books. I was so surprised how strong his listeners were

So close to starting my podcast. Best way for me is to do it from my car and use my iphone. Kind of makes me nervous.

You've got some serious convincing to do, brother! I've sworn up and down that I won't (despite many people telling me to start one for years). I've been on radio/podcasts dozens of times being interviewed. I host a TV show and a UA-cam series, and it's the latter that has the best chance of a podcast spinoff. I'm eager to hear what else you have to say... maybe you can change my mind to invest the time.

There's an audience of podcast listeners who will never know about you, never have the chance to discover you or get to know you or become your fan because they'll only listen to podcasts. If you've got the machine going on all of your other stuff, than I'd definitely recommend giving a podcast a shot.

Pat Flynn Thanks Pat. I’ve already got the equipment and know-how to start one. It’s just the investment of time. My biggest concern is getting the guests to interview and scheduling them for a Skype call recording. That can be the most time consuming part of all!

@@patflynn Also I would love to hear your recommendations for remote interviews other than Skype. I've heard of Zencastr recently... but is it any good, or is there something else to allow anyone from around the world to jump in on your recording?
