  • The Qantas board has announced its slashing former CEO Alan Joyce's long and short-term bonus payout by $9 million.
It follows a review into the management of Qantas which found mistakes were made which led to significant reputational damage and customer service issues for Australia's biggest airline.
Mr Joyce departed the airline in September last year following a string of controversies, including the illegal sacking of about 1700 workers, the selling of tickets on already cancelled flights and allegations of anti-competitive behaviour.
The decision comes as the carrier has committed to implementing all 23 recommendations made in the scathing review of the airline's management.
The former CEO will be left with $1.8 million for his 2023 bonus, and walks away with $125 million in total over his 15-year career with the airline.
While the more than $9 million docked bonus is one of the largest ever clawbacks in corporate pay, some say that's still not enough.
