She was so poised and mature and sophisticated for a 14yr old! I laugh so much at that song! I really like her and Frank Zappa their whole family is awesome. She’s super witty and hilarious
Moon recently filmed an interview in which she reflects on the 40th anniversary of "Valley Girl." She has some interesting observations regarding her father and that era. Search for it on UA-cam.
@@charlesnicholson7539 It's not really an idea. More of an inclination. You're either cynical about something or your not. It's not like picking out an outfit. The point he's making is that if you're not cynical, you're not paying attention.
@@charlesnicholson7539 I'd agree with that to a point. You can certainly change your mindset/out look on life so that you're not cynical (or as cynical,) but cynicism itself is more a reaction than a choice. It's not like we look at situations and think "Well, I could be cynical about that, but nah, I'll be positive about it instead." It doesn't quite work that way. Still, you can train yourself to not be cynical. I'd concede that.
Novelty song or not this is one of my top 5 of all time. Moon was brilliant and way beyond her age here. And how awesome that Frank had a scanimate analog video computer in his studio.
Don’t remember this movie I was 7yrs old when Valley Girl (1983 ) came out in Theaters. I remember Zappa as an old man but this interview Frank looks way different lol.
Went to Antelope Valley High School with Frank Zappa, sat behind me in Spanish class. He doesn't look he has changed much except hair is a little shorter.
with all of the music Zappa put out it's surprising that, in retrospect, "Valley Girl" is his most accomplished piece. Val's didn't sound like anyone I'd ever heard at the time of its release but now the vernacular is peppered into the language.
Frank was ahead of his time. He would be such a geek today with all of the amazing software available. I can only wonder what he would have created. Frank was a hardcore Democrat back then just like I was. But I guarantee he would have abandoned the party just like I did in the past few years when they went insane.
I think he should have done more commercial music to get the success he deserved. He could have easily done a twin track approach and had hits with other ideas. He had the musicians to help create any hit records. Sometimes it's better to deal with the devil 🤘😈 and enjoy the success that it can bring.
@@benjaminturkalj4415 Yeah, selling out to live a “luxurious” life is probably the last thing Zappa ever wanted. He made what he wanted to make. As pure as an artist can get. It’s why Frank is the GOAT P.S. You know he had a huge house with a studio in the back yard, Frank did very well for him and his family.

I was I court today with Zappa's daughter, apparently she has a stalker looking to hurt her for having the lyrics of this song stolen from him.
Whatever., gag me with a toilet brush .
Like wow, punch me with a rotting corpse, eat me with a spoon.
😂😂
Even the interviewer got into the Zappa vibe. The whole piece is playful and presents Zappa in a very real way.

Nope. Cynicism is a terrible idea.

@@somersetcace1 I get his point. All I’m saying is that cynicism is a voluntary perspective that doesn’t lead to a good mindset or outlook on life.

What...a...great...interview! Gold, please, please, reflect in the title how much more this contains than Valley Girl Zappa stuff.

We could sure use Frank now....
I was wondering what George Carlin's repertoire would be in our current political environment.
It surprises me that Frank lived in Hollywood.

Happy to have been steeped in this era and his music. My heart aches when I think of how early he left us. Missing him.
Love Frank Zappa
Its a nice piece of entertainment
Not stayed in this video 📹. As a boy 👦, Dweezil hung out with the late Eddie van Halen. Dweezil learned a few things! 😃
Dweez learned from Steve Vai as well. He’s a titan

I love Zappa's attitude and cynicism.
Giants like Zappa drive art forward. Like all of them his time was too short
Moons really smart 😮
Ladies and gentlemen
Watch Ruth.
Can you imagine what FZ could do music and video wise in today's digital world? Sigh...
WWE’s Seth Rollins could play him in a movie
Show me one composer that stands with Frank
He jammed with Pink Floyd once. I know there was a composer that Frank got along with in his later years, but I forget who
Tons.
Aaron Copeland. Fanfare for the Common Man, Grand Canyon Suite are two really good ones. But do I love Frank? YES!!!
Vai
Moon Zappa did a great job on the song though!

Did frank play the piano? Self taught?

Do you consider the Synclavier a piano? That defined his later work...
I grew up in that era. I thought Zappa's music sucked. And so did everyone I knew. Nobody listened to it.
yes, there were plenty of squares in his era🤣
That says much about you and your friends. Go back and listen to Peaches En Regalia and Watermelon In Easter Hay. See if things have changed.
