Really strange now to see the title of this video after reading her memoir... her grandmother was anything but "cute". I'm glad to see that Jennette is now doing a lot better.
i was looking for this comment. it feels so surreal to see stuff like this after reading the book, it’s all so sugar coated and no one had any idea.. i wish we could know what she was thinking at times like these where she just had to smile and talk about her family like nothing was wrong. makes you wonder how many celebs like her are going through a similar situation and we wouldn’t ever know unless they stood up like jennette did

@@ficameron9902 Me too! Best book I've read in a loooong time as a counsellor. That book is REMARKABLE, I hope Jennette knows how powerful, hilarious and actually helpful and hopeful it is!
I also think she didn't really like Kevin Spacey considering the allegations of sexual assault he had going on for him and the fact Jennette herself was abused when she was younger... Basically from her book I think we can safely say the front she put up for the media back then was just that a front, a facade not her real self.

***** In Icarly, one of the shows that Jeanette did, she had a twin sister named Melanie who was the opposite of her character, Sam. Melanie was nice, cheerful, and adorable, while Sam was Tomboyish, rude, and mean.
It was sam snd cat where jm played twin melanie. One of the best sam and cat episodes, very clever writing.

Seeing how her demeanor changed from this very giddy, kind of nervous behavior, to a more decisive and steady personality is amazing when having read the book.
Jennette is a wonderful perso, and an even more wonderful writer. I used to love her when playing Sam as a child because her character comforted me (I was a pushover child and looked up to her), but reading Jennette's autobiography has made me love the person so much more.
Thank you for speaking up and validating so many people's messed up childhood experiences ❤️
The grandfather, Bob, based on my analysis of the book is actually more aware of the dysfunctionality of the household but I guess couldn't do much due to the overpowering nature of the mother and grandmother. I appreciate how the grandpa was able to tell that something's up with Jennette when she was doing OCD-type of rituals.
Yes, her interactions with her grandparent in the book seem so important and nurturing for her. I’m glad she had a safe person in the midst of everything she went through

Watching this after reading her memoir really hits different. Her grandpa seemed fine for the most part, and was probably the family member she had the closest genuine relationship with. Her grandma on the other hand, was a complete psycho who mistreated her so badly, even when she was a child. Definitely where her mom got her narcissistic personality from.

I did some research on what she went through and why she's not coming back for the 'iCarly' reboot. I am honestly so glad she is doing better. And she seems like such a sweet human being. Struggling with mental health myself I know how important it is.

Now we know from the book her grandmother was essentially an older crotchety version of her mom. Good for her taking control of her life and helping out others from dysfunctional upbringings giving them something to relate to.
