Billy Zambidis Some countries' languages are just extremely difficult to listen to song-wise. I believe English is the best language to sing in because more people understand it and voting will be fair, not just to whichever song was easiest to listen to.

They did not have to "persuade" anybody, nor the jury or the audience. Their level was too high. Not just the classicaly trained voices. But the song, the energy, the youthfulness, the charm, their presence on stage. The perfect combination of classic and contemporary, given with so much simplicity, and tenderness. They SHOULD have won.
Only weakness is the posh vibes, but they are of absolute highest quality like anything Italia sends. I liked more experimental songs that year: 4 Loïc and 6 Aminata.

***** Måns did have an amazing voice (and not so hard to look at either), great choreography, very cool effects, which were very well integrated into said choreography, and meaningful lyrics. Il Volo had three gorgeous guys singing stunningly well, and a background that resembled a opera house/museum with smoke coming out of the sides. I don't really know italian, but i'm assuming they're singing love, or someone they love. There are obvious differences with the song, the most obvious one being the lack of choreography in Italy's song. Don't get me wrong, this song is absolutely wonderful in every sense of the word, but I understand why the jurys chose what they chose. I couldn't vote since i didn't have access to anything which enabled me to do so at that moment, but I would definitely vote for this song, Latvia's song, and Russia's song if I could.
This was the most undeserved win for Sweden. Idk why they’re so overrated.. Even this year. It’s actually very rare when the public vote weighs more than the Jurys vote and that’s sad.

Italy should have won this year, no question. BUT I did get tickets for the grand final in Stockholm the following year, which was the best ever final. Plus it gave me the chance to travel from London to Stockholm by train (3 days) which I had always wanted to do. So a silver lining…… looking forward to Rome? Next year COVID allowing.
It actually shocked me that this came 3rd place. It’s a really strong performance and one of my favourite songs from Italy. Even last year, Italy was the runner up.
They released new album and played lots of gigs. From February till April they did almost 40 concerts around US, so they're definitely very popular over there. After that they went to Central and South America to perform there and now they're back in Europe for another few gigs.

They won the public vote by a mile. However, Sweden and Russia got enough votes from the juries to beat them overall. God knows why. The juries are supposed to vote on vocal performance and neither Sweden nor Russia could compare to Italy for that. The only other country whose singer came close vocally was Australia.

Eric Duv Up to 1997 almost every country used a jury and no televoting to award points. They used televoting exclusively from 1998 to 2009. I think the combined system is better, because it diminishes the advantage certain countries have due to large migratory populations (Russia, Romania, Albania, Armenia,...). So be glad televoting was taken into account, otherwise Italy would have been 6th.

They have too many standard voting alliances, but I think Swden would win anyway but by a narrower margin with Italy second. Andget Ho I think it's a great song, and this is gonna be a dick move, but if it was in English it might have gotten more votes. I know that shouldn't be the case, but really. Also, don't pay attention to the millions of vote. It's not a fair measure of who likes what. maybe all 36 million voters were from Italy. It's very unlikely but it's still possible. Televoting results doesn't tell you who Europe wants, it only tells who the choice of those who were ABLE to vote. Maybe there are countries where the only means of televoting is to text their votes, or call in, or go online and tweet. You are only getting the votes of the people who have phones, computers, internet, these are things that not everybody have. It would be unfair to a country whose people doesn't have that privilege. By giving each country a jury and each country gets an equal amount of votes, it would be more fair to all countries involved.
Some win, some are remembered, some forgotten and some become legendary. Maybe the over all worthiest contestant since 2000, considering how "outdated" the genre is.
Though televote votes aren't as fair as you think. You can call 20 times/phone. Which means richer people can vote more times for their personal favorite. To vote you also need to have a phone, which not everyone owns and therefore it is not said that it is fair voting. Another thing is that neighbour-voting is really common around Europe. It is known that countries with neigbouring countries tend to get high points from those countries nearby. A third thing to mention is also that the jury has educated musicians. Where's the ones voting from phone can be deaf or not that good in music. I am from Sweden, but I really loved this song from Italy and actually I got sad when I heard about this. Though I'm glad Sweden and Måns won. I still didn't think he should've been the winner. Not even in the Swedish cualification competition "Melodifestivalen". I didn't like the similar song and rather wanted Jon Henrik to represent Sweden since his song meant something for more than just a ordinary pop song. But anyway this is my opinion! :P

They did not have to "persuade" anybody, nor the jury or the audience. Their level was too high. Not just the classicaly trained voices. But the song, the energy, the youthfulness, the charm, their presence on stage. The perfect combination of classic and contemporary, given with so much simplicity, and tenderness. They SHOULD have won.

Aghh!! Words can't express how angry I am right now; Italy was obviously the most beautiful song ESC has had in years. Sure, Sweden's performance was great, but the was cliche and not to mention kinda tacky. Italy will always be my winner 3

***** Måns did have an amazing voice (and not so hard to look at either), great choreography, very cool effects, which were very well integrated into said choreography, and meaningful lyrics. Il Volo had three gorgeous guys singing stunningly well, and a background that resembled a opera house/museum with smoke coming out of the sides. I don't really know italian, but i'm assuming they're singing love, or someone they love.
There are obvious differences with the song, the most obvious one being the lack of choreography in Italy's song. Don't get me wrong, this song is absolutely wonderful in every sense of the word, but I understand why the jurys chose what they chose. I couldn't vote since i didn't have access to anything which enabled me to do so at that moment, but I would definitely vote for this song, Latvia's song, and Russia's song if I could.

Italy should have won this year, no question. BUT I did get tickets for the grand final in Stockholm the following year, which was the best ever final. Plus it gave me the chance to travel from London to Stockholm by train (3 days) which I had always wanted to do. So a silver lining…… looking forward to Rome? Next year COVID allowing.

They released new album and played lots of gigs. From February till April they did almost 40 concerts around US, so they're definitely very popular over there. After that they went to Central and South America to perform there and now they're back in Europe for another few gigs.

Lara García Villa The theme this year was building bridges, in this case they built a bridge between Europe and Australia by inviting us to participate. As for why they chose us, well for one we could probably be called European what with all the European culture we have (it's not like they were inviting china or japan). Two Australia has been following Eurovision for a long time, it's pretty popular here, especially among the a fore mentioned Europeans. Of course we never had a chance of winning.

They won the public vote by a mile. However, Sweden and Russia got enough votes from the juries to beat them overall. God knows why. The juries are supposed to vote on vocal performance and neither Sweden nor Russia could compare to Italy for that. The only other country whose singer came close vocally was Australia.

Eric Duv Up to 1997 almost every country used a jury and no televoting to award points. They used televoting exclusively from 1998 to 2009. I think the combined system is better, because it diminishes the advantage certain countries have due to large migratory populations (Russia, Romania, Albania, Armenia,...). So be glad televoting was taken into account, otherwise Italy would have been 6th.

This is a joke, no? God, I can't believe they are on the 3rd place! They were the best, they had the most gorgeous voices and the most beautiful song. When I heard their representation, I had no doubt with idea that Italy will be on the first place. Just wow! The best song ever in Eurovision didn't win! I'm shocked! Italy diserved the first place for their perfect show, voices, song and for originality. I think one reason for their failure is the order, Italy was the last to perform. Btw, for me they are the winners and I hope they know that they are the best! I'm glad because my country gave 12 points to Italy, proud to be romanian now! Love you, the real winner! They have too many standard voting alliances, but I think Swden would win anyway but by a narrower margin with Italy second.
Sweden had a pretty good song (though Italy was the best) but overall Sweden had the best on scene performance so I can accept it as the winning performance but the winning song was Italy as well.

Andget Ho I think it's a great song, and this is gonna be a dick move, but if it was in English it might have gotten more votes. I know that shouldn't be the case, but really.
Also, don't pay attention to the millions of vote. It's not a fair measure of who likes what. maybe all 36 million voters were from Italy. It's very unlikely but it's still possible. Televoting results doesn't tell you who Europe wants, it only tells who the choice of those who were ABLE to vote. Maybe there are countries where the only means of televoting is to text their votes, or call in, or go online and tweet. You are only getting the votes of the people who have phones, computers, internet, these are things that not everybody have. It would be unfair to a country whose people doesn't have that privilege. By giving each country a jury and each country gets an equal amount of votes, it would be more fair to all countries involved.
Anthony Co Italy could not vote for Italy as any other country could not vote or their country. Those televotes would be rejected by computers.

Some win, some are remembered, some forgotten and some become legendary. Maybe the over all worthiest contestant since 2000, considering how "outdated" the genre is.

liona5 Yep Italy should of won 3 out of the last 6 eurovisions there entries have been brilliant, was sure the'd do it this year.
Though televote votes aren't as fair as you think. You can call 20 times/phone. Which means richer people can vote more times for their personal favorite. To vote you also need to have a phone, which not everyone owns and therefore it is not said that it is fair voting.
Another thing is that neighbour-voting is really common around Europe. It is known that countries with neigbouring countries tend to get high points from those countries nearby.
A third thing to mention is also that the jury has educated musicians. Where's the ones voting from phone can be deaf or not that good in music.
I am from Sweden, but I really loved this song from Italy and actually I got sad when I heard about this. Though I'm glad Sweden and Måns won. I still didn't think he should've been the winner. Not even in the Swedish cualification competition "Melodifestivalen". I didn't like the similar song and rather wanted Jon Henrik to represent Sweden since his song meant something for more than just a ordinary pop song.
But anyway this is my opinion! :P

So i've been seeing some comments here saying they are outdated and cheesy. Yeah, Billy Eilish and that crap computer music is much better. God, most of you have NO ideea what good music is.

TheZinsChannel I Agree! Sweden was nothing more than a cheap pop song with good visuals to upgrade the performance. This was real music, with a real soul. It touched me, while sweden's song did nothing with me. It's a shame that the so called experts didn't recognised the beauty of the italian performance.

I'm from the USA - California … When II Volo won in San Remo - No one could beat them … Italy had the most incredible entry for Eurovision … I'm a fan and still believe they should have won the competition. II Volo are so great that they will continue to be successful and win the world wide audience. Bravo II Volo!

I'm still shocked and always will be of what CRIME juries did, I'L Volo were the CLEAR winners of Europe and finished only 3rd because of 200 paid juries !!! Sweden finished only 3rd in Televoting and Italy won Televoting comfortably !!! Grande Amore is masterpiece and in my opinion the 2nd best Eurovision song behind Molitva !!!!
